Hawks' birthday was coming soon. Very soon. In fact, it was coming faster than you can plan a celebration for him. You weren't sure what he would like to do. You wanted to make sure his day was the best since it was his day. Instead of stressing about what to do for his day, you would ask what he wanted. It was better to get him what he wants rather than disappoint him with something he wasn't comfortable with.

You were lying in bed with him so you turned to face him. He was in your arms and you were in his. He was taking a light nap after lunch and you had woken up earlier than him. You lightly shook him and whispered his name, "Keigo?"

He hummed in response and waited for you to reply.

"What do you want to do for your birthday?" You asked as you hugged him.

His eyes finally opened and he looked at you. He looked unsure and slightly uncomfortable with the question. He shrugged and said, "I completely forgot my birthday was coming up."

"What? Really? Well, do you have anything in mind you want to do?" You asked as you shot up in bed. You almost didn't believe Hawks but seeing his expression made you believe it.

He nodded and said, "Well, I grew up with the hero commission. My birthday wasn't really... a time to celebrate, I guess I should say. When I grew up, I was so busy I never had time to pay attention to dates like my birthday."

"Oh...," was all you could say. Hawks had told you about his childhood, and how he had dedicated his life to his work with the heroes commission. For some reason, it never occurred to you that they would be linked to his birthday.

"Okay, I'm sorry," you finally replied as you thought about how it might have been a subject he wasn't comfortable with.

"It's okay, Babybird, you didn't do anything wrong. Were you planning something?" He asked as his hand reached for your ear and soft caressed the lobes.

"I was trying," you honestly replied to which he laughed at. It was slightly embarrassing seeing the way he was looking at you. Almost like you were caught in the act but there was never an act.

"I'm looking forward to it then," he said after his brief fit of laughter.

The days after went by fast. You spent an entire day planning out Hawks' birthday and the next spending the money to make it happen. Everything was going well and he didn't know what you were planning.

Until Hawks came home before you.

You were out shopping for Hawks' birthday items, and tried to make it home to decorate more than you already had and set everything up before he got home. The second you opened the door, Hawks was standing in the center of the room looking at the minimal decorations lacing the edges and corners.

A gasp escaped your throat and you almost dropped everything when you charged at him and tried pushing him.

"Wait! Don't look! It's not ready! What are you doing here?" You exclaimed as you trudged to move him but he barely moved a smidgen.

"What's wrong, my frantic Feather? Are you cheating on me," he asked with a teasing tone that was enjoying your current state of panic too much.

You didn't have the time to be embarrassed about the new nickname he made up for you, as you were occupied with getting the stubborn bird man out the room. "Hawks! You birdbrain, get out! You're not supposed to see it yet!"

All Hawks did was laugh at you and cracked up when you finally managed to make his foot move a step. "Alright, Songbird, I'll go," he finally said and let you shove him into the bedroom. You closed the door on him and hurried into finishing the decorations.

It took you a hurried 45-ish minutes to finish decorations and somehow creating enough space for Hawks' birthday cake. When you finished, you picked up the "birthday favor" and knocked on the door.

"Hello, Songbir—," Hawks tried to greet you but was interrupted by you putting his favor on.

On his head, was a cute party hat that said, "Baby's First Birthday". It did not match with the fuzz growing on his chin and it made you laugh so hard. To match his, you managed to put on your party hat through your laughing fit.

"Uh... what's this?" Hawks asked as he tried to take off the party hat. Your hands flew over to keep it on his head and you replied, "Don't take it off!"

You guided him into the kitchen to show off the now-finished decorations. The theme was "Baby's First Birthday", as the hat entailed. The room was covered in soft pallets of colors like baby blues and baby pinks. Hawks was all too amused and confused to really let everything sink in, which explained why he was letting you drag him around the house to show off the effort you put into his birthday.

You gave him his "birthday lunch" of a bouquet of an assortment of chicken and a movie. In his trance, he just let everything happen. He wasn't sure what to make of it. Never had he ever expected what you prepared nor expect the amount of effort you put into his birthday. He loved the bouquet and he got a laugh out do it, and the movie he didn't care for because he was too focused on cuddling and eating with you.

After the lunch and movie, you finally presented what you were most excited about. You pulled out the cake and stuck a single Number One candle to light. He laughed all throughout you singing him the Birthday Song, and you couldn't help but sneak a few new laughing verses as you sang. When you finished singing, you cupped his face in your hands and teased, "Happy Birthday, Birthday Boy!"

You let him blow out the candle and you clapped for him like he really was a child. He kissed you softly on the lips and whispered a thanks through a smile. You cut him a slice of cake and pulled out ice cream to give him a scoop. He only laughed at the paper plates you had in hand that matched the theme.

The rest of his birthday was spent cuddling and finishing his birthday cake. You spent quality time with Hawks and occasionally threw baby's first birthday jokes at him.

When the day finally reached midnight, you both were cleaning up his birthday decorations. You laughed upon seeing his party hat still on. As you took it off for him, you asked, "How was your first birthday?"

Hawks opened a trash bag for you to throw away the decorations in your hand as he teased, "It was something."

"Did you have fun, Sweetie?" You teased back.

"Yes, Baba, I had lots of fun," he countered in a tone that mocked your own.

He pulled you in by your hand and pressed his forehead on your own. "Jokes aside, though, I really appreciate what you've done for me. I didn't think you do this much. Thank you," he said in a soft voice.

"Why wouldn't I? Next year I'll plan something else, Baby's Second?" You teased once more then cleared your throat from the laugh that tried to come up. "You mean a lot to me Keigo. I wanted you to feel special on a day meant for you," you confessed and pressed your lips on his.

He smiled into the kiss and pulled away to say, "I don't deserve you."
