The morning of the engagement fled away like a fly on fire. So fast i could barely keep track of the makeup artist stuffing hairpins into Tara's hair.

She looked gorgeous in her purple velvet lehenga. Her makeup was already done all that was left was the hair.

My makeup was being done my another makeup artist, the one who doesnt touch the bride, and i had to admit i looked pretty good.

My hair was simple. Straightened and curled at the ends. My pink lehenga identical to dhriti's flowed on the floor.

Dhriti was clicking a gazzilion selfies me barely in 4 or 5 of them. It was just 4 in the afternoon we were getting ready this early bcoz... you know.. we are girls.. we take time.

The grooms party had yet to arrive. They had called and told that they had left the morning and it would hours to reach here.

I was getting sick from the smell of hairsprays and the sound of hairpins cackling. I sat up from the bed where i was sitting and walked out to the room where the boys were getting dressed. I passed my other cousins and aunts who were also done getting ready and posed with them for selfies.

I slowly started to the boys room but the loud honk of horns lead me to the window.

I saw a traveller bus entering our drive way. The groom was here.

And behind that traveller was the most gorgeous black car I've ever seen.

And then i saw it. It was not just a black car. It was The car.

It was a black cheverlot impala 1967. Dean winchester's baby.

"Son of a bitch" it left my mouth without me even knowing.

The groom's family started getting down from the bus and there was no one to greet them.

I dashed accross the corridoor and banged on jeevan uncle's door.

"Uncle.... the groom and family is here. You need to go down there" i yelled through the door.

I heared a curse from the other side.

"Maya. Im not ready yet honey. You go down there and give them the key to the outhouse. Let them rest and freshen up there" he slid the key set through the door and i picked it up and rushed to the door.

A lot of women and kids draped in silk sarees and colorful frocks and head covered in jasmine flowers stood in the drive way. Waving there pallu at their faces indicting it was hot.

The men though were all dressed in casuals. And i saw my brother in law leaning against the car.

"Hiii. Sorry for the delay everyone's getting ready. Im maya. Im the bride's cousin. You guys can go and freshen up in the outhouse over there. Let me take you" i led them towards the house.

We provided them with necessary items. Snacks and drinks were brought by dhriti and pooja followingly. A little girl ran upto me and pulled on my dhupptta.

"Hello" i knelt beside her.

"You're so pretty" she poked at my cheeks.

"Thank you. But you're prettier." I poked her cheek in return and she giggled.

"What's your name?"

"Arya. Im 9." she started picking at the stones in my duppatta.

"Okay arya sweetie. Aunty has to go now. I'll meet you soon okay." I held my hand up for a high five but she wrapped her arms around my neck.

"Okay...." i waved to her and walked out the house.

I saw arjun talking loudly at someone. A few guys were still in the bus unloading the luggage.

I walked upto him "Nice ride". I patted on the car hood.

"Like it?" He asked. A brotherly smile passing on his face.

"Chevy impala 67 right?"

"You know cars?"

"I know Supernatural." i smirked.

He smiled. "That explains it. So... You're one of my cousin's in law to be?"

"Yup. Maya" i held out my hand and he shaked it. "Nice to meet you brother".

A loud thud rang behind us. I turned back and saw someone ducking out of my line of vision. Huh... strange.

"Maya... I've heard lots. Tara wont shut up about you"

"Shes precious like that. I will never let anything bad happen to her" I dropped my voice a few deeper. "Do i need to give you the speech?"

"Nope. Im clear. If i hurt her you'll hunt me down and kick my ass. Right?"

An amused chuckle left my lips. This guy is good. I could see why tara was so smitten.

A shiver ran up my spine as i felt someone watching me i turned around but there was nobody.

"You okay?" Arjun asked looking over my shoulder to see what i was looking at.

"Im fine. Well then bro you should go ahead and get freshened up. It must have been a long ride. " i waved at him and walked back to the house.

Turning back again to search for the source of my unnecessary fear.

The stage was set all the decoration in place. Jeevan uncle spared no expense in his daughters engagement.

The front courtyarnd of the house was completely used for the set. It was an open party model. The mandap was set in the middle of the courtyard which was elavated and fourpoles arranged in a cube shaped held pink material draped with flowers arranged in in them.

The courtyard was full of chairs and the path to the mandap was decorated with rose petals. The view behind the mandap of the overlooking cliff was extrodinary.

The grooms family were seated on the left and the bride's on the right.

Amumma was seated in the first row treated like the queen she is.

I saw my mom and dad sitting in one of the front rows besides my aunts and uncles. I waved at them. Us cousins were standimg on either sides of chair as the hosts. After the ring exchange there will be a party.

When geetha aunty asked me to distribute the welcome drink to everyone something tickled the back of my brain.

There was something im forgetting. But i couldnt put my finger in it.

As i continued giving drinks i saw arjun descending down the rose petalled path. He was wearing a light blue kurta looking handsome as ever. An older version of arjun was walking beside him. Again the familiarity struck me again. Ive seen this man before too. But where??

All my confusion faded away when i saw varun gesturing me to execute the grant entrance for the bride.

We 4 cousins me, varun, dhriti and vivek held up a red netted scarf as a canopy over Tara's head and led her down the rose carpet. She was walking with her hands on jeevan uncle's arms.

Her bridal song kabira reprise was playing in the speakers and i swear to god i saw vivek wiping at his eyes.

It was hard for me to not cry too. Our crazy tara is getting engaged. In just 2 weeks she's getting married. Something about the stars alingning on the perfect moment to tie the knot bullshit. The grooms family will propably stay here until the wedding.

When we reached the mandap jeevan uncle led tara to sit beside arjun. The pandit began the pooja and all i could see was the delighted look on the couple face who were trying so hard not to hold each other hands

They are soo cuteeeeeee. I found myself smiling.

The tingling sensation came again. I was positive that someone was watching me. And my doubts fled away like dried leaves on a storm when i found the source.

My throat dried out. My hands started sweating and a drop ran down My spine.

Adhi was staring at me from accross the courtyard.

He was dressed in the same royal blue which all the male cousins of the groom wore. The wheels started turning in my head.

The similiarity, the man on the mandap. It clicked into place.

Adhi was Arjun's brother.

No no no no.

This is not happening.

Arjun is not that arjun.

God!!! I dont know what to do.

I looked at the front row on the grooms side and saw adhi's mom standing there. She was wearing sindhoor and a mangalsutra.

I thought she was divorced.

She was holding someones hands. I looked at the owner of the hand and received the biggest shock of my life.

It was my principal in college. It was Ajay malhotra.

Dark spots started dancing behind ny ears. I needed to sit down propably drink something. I excused myself and went to the kitchen area.

The caterers were busy cooking the sadhya for the evening party.

I asked one of the workers "Uncle im not feeling well can i get some water please?"

"Water is very hot. It was just boiled dear." The man replied.

"Ohh.Where is the welcome drink then?" I asked my throat dry as a desert.

"Its in the fridge dear. The first vessel is almost empty. You can open the second one. Do you want me to help you?" Genuine concern laced his features.

"No uncle. I'll manage. Thank you" i smiled at him and sprinted towards the fridge.

There at the bottom a huge steel vessel covered with a steel lid full of rasna was waiting for me. I grabbed one of the paper glasses and gulped down a drink.

This doesnt taste right. It is orange flavoured juice but it is also a little bit bitter. Almost like. . . VODKA!!!

Memories from last night flashed down in my eyes. Holy crap!! I had spiked the entire welcome drink for the engagement.

Drunk maya is such a trouble maker.

What am i gonna do??

This day just keeps getting better and better.

My sister is getting engaged to my ex's brother, i spiked the drink on the above said engagement with Vodka and my ex just showed up too.

Grabbing at my hair i swallowed a scream. I turned and collided with a strong chest and fell backwards. But a hand captured me around my waist and pulled me to that chest.

I looked up and stared into my once favourite shade of brown. Adhi.

"We need to talk " adhi grumbled.
