《Big Brothers | Completed ✔》Chapter 39

"Good morning Emery students! It's pizza day tomorrow, so be sure to bring your money. Girls basketball club is today at lunch, eat in the gym. Boys basketball club is next week, so remember..."
I mentally squealed as I listened to the announcements. I can't wait for basketball! I also plan on apologizing to Alex today, I feel like I was too harsh on him.
I glance over at him and see him talking to Nate and Dylan. Now, I know I kind of sound creepy saying this, but all three of them are good looking. Nate sees me staring and his lips spread into a smirk, I quickly avert my eyes but I still see him tapping Dylan and Alex's shoulder, making them turn to him. Nate whispers something to them and they look at me.
I'm dead.
"Alright, everyone!" Mrs. Freizer exclaims, grinning happily. "Good morning! Now, hopefully, you all studied for the quiz today. Clear your desks and just have a pencil in your hand."
Everyone groaned, but nonetheless, everyone did what they were told. Now, you're probably thinking 'why the hell are they having a quiz already?' Well, to answer that question, it's just something we always do every year. Just to jog our memory since we've been on summer vacation.
Mrs. Freizer moved around, handing everyone their quiz. She had said that the quiz is only a page long, so that's good.
She gave me mine and smiled slightly, I could tell it was fake. She used to have Drake in her class, so she know automatically thinks I'm like him. I hate it when teachers think that, especially when they're nothing alike.
I looked down at the quiz and nodded, it looked easy enough. I'm not exaggerating or bragging, but, I think an 11-year-old can do this.

"Okay everyone, turn your sheets over. Pack everything, we have three minutes left of class. I'll come around and collect all your quizzes," Mrs. Frezier announced. I put down my book since I finished early and I'm sure everyone did too.
I already packed up everything as I put away my book in my backpack. I just waited for the bell to ring and once it did, all the kids rushed out. One poor kid fell and I swear her glasses cracked, I shook my head and crouched down and helped her and gave her glasses back. She smiled at me, her braces shining through the sunlight. I think I've seen her around before, Hope.
"Thanks, Harper," she said and I couldn't but smile. Before I could say anything else, she got shoved into me. I grabbed her shoulders as her cheeks redden slightly.
"Watch where you're going glasses," Dylan sneered at her. I looked at him with disbelief, as Hope looked down.
"I think you should watch where you're going. You shoved her into me!" I scowled at Dylan. Did I mention that Dylan and Nate were bullies? Well, I think now you know.
Dylan stared at me, "Why are you defending this loser?"
"I-I think I should leave," Hope quietly muttered. She walked off before I could stop her. I sighed angrily and glared at Dylan.
"You shouldn't be rude to people," I told him. I then noticed that the bell rang. I glanced at Nate and Alex who were watching with amusement, I'll just apologize to Alex later.
"Well, why didn't you just mind-,"
He couldn't finish his sentence since I was already off running to my next class. I hope lunch rolls by soon...
▫▫
Yay! It's finally lunch, I've been waiting for this moment right when I woke up this morning! I was the first to hurry out my math class as I raced to my locker. I opened it quickly and Emily was already there, fixing her hair.

"Where you going, Harper?" She asked as if we were friends. I shrugged and shut my locker, turning to face her.
"You don't need to know," I said. With that, I was off, walking to the gym. I don't know why I've been feeling extra salty ever since Dylan shoved Hope into me. It just seems so... rude.
Once I got into the gym, it was already packed. I saw someone that brightened my mood, it was Hope. There weren't many girls and I hope other girls were joining
I waved at Coach Kendall and at Hope. I walked into the changing room and sighed of relief when I saw other girls changing. I quickly threw off my shirt and pants and changed into my sweatpants and a random blue shirt that are my gym clothes.
I walked out of the changing room and sat next to Hope. "Hey, are you okay?"
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" She asked, looking back at me. Hope is adorable, and she really is. I'm serious, I'll go gay for this girl. She has silky light brown hair, freckles running across her nose to both her cheeks, has huge black glasses, and ocean blue eyes. Usually, she has her head buried in a book, and I don't mind, that's awesome.
"Nevermind," I said, chuckling. She looked at me for a second and then smiled. After a few minutes of chatting, Coach Kendall started talking when she noticed everyone was here.
"Hello, girls! Welcome to the official basketball club!" Coach Kendal announced and everyone started clapping. She started talking about last years girls basketball team and the basic rules about basketball, she even showed us some examples with us.
"Alright, now why don't we split you guys in half? This is the most girls we have ever had," she said smiling. She kind of just split us, like, literally. The girls that were sitting on the right were together and the ones on the left were together. She counted all of us and had Ms. Levi help her. (Ms. Levi is the assistant teacher who helps Coach Kendall).
"Alright, now we're even. The left team and the right team! Ms. Levi will coach team left and I'll coach team right," Coach Kendall walked towards us. I'm glad I have her as a coach, she's an awesome coach.
"Okay, gather around girls. Since you all know the basic rules, let's play a normal game. Who wants to start the tip-off?" I raised my hand a bunch of other girls did too. Hope got picked to throw the ball in the air, and two other girls I didn't know got picked. It was five against five, and Hope and I were on the same team. The other girls are watching on the bench.
We all got into positions and coach blew the whistle. Hope threw the basketball into the air and the opposing team smacked the ball to their team.
I guarded the girl who caught the ball, and she threw it under me but I caught it quickly. I threw the ball at a girl, I think her name is Julie, and she dribbled it to their basketball net. She threw it, but it bounced off it and Hope quickly caught it and the basketball swiftly landed through the net. Coach blew her whistle and we got the point!
I think this year with basketball is going to be more fun than I thought it would be. :)
