《L O S E R》-Chapter 5-

The last couple of days have been hard. I felt isolated and helpless and on top of that Xander and Leo had to help me with the simplest of things. I never thought I would have to ask Leo to help me shower, but they didn't care and helped me no matter what. I was so happy to have them in my life.

Senior year was starting on Monday so I was put on bed rest until then. And for someone used to being independent and going out, it was terrible. I crossed my fingers that by then I would hopefully have healed enough to go back by then.

Today was a Friday and after hours of nagging and a bit of yelling, I had managed to convince the boys to go to a friend's birthday party. I felt kind of bad since they have basically been babysitting me since I got out of the hospital and have been refusing to leave my side to take care of themselves. They really deserve to let loose and party tonight.

Before leaving both of them gave me a big hug before finally heading out the door. Luckily they had prepared dinner earlier so I didn't have to stress about it. I decided to make myself comfortable in bed with some snacks and Netflix and just enjoy some me-time.

After just a couple of minutes, my phone started buzzing and I paused the movie to answer it. The screen showed an unfamiliar number and I hesitantly picked it up before finally answering it.

"Hello?" I asked, but the person on the other side kept quiet.

"If this is some sort of prank it's not funny" I tried again, but the person on the other end just made some weird noises and it was starting to get a little creepy so I hung up and turned my attention back to the movie.

I downed another drink and I could already feel the alcohol in my system. It didn't take long before it was starting to make me dizzy. The atmosphere in the bar was loud and a bit too crowded for my liking, but the place wasn't too bad actually. I continued swaying my hips to the music while letting my eyes roam the crowd for my twin. I spotted Damon dancing with a pretty brunette, his hands placed firmly on her waist.

I maneuvered my way over to them and eventually found myself a girl to dance with. Her hair was dyed in a fake blonde color and I could tell her face was caked with makeup. She didn't have that natural I liked at all, but she would do. We continued dancing until I felt my phone continuously vibrate in my pocket.

I swiftly picked it up and my big brother's name popped up. I pushed away from the blonde and made my way through the crowded dance floor and towards a more quiet area.

"Carson where the fuck are you?!" Mason's voice beamed over the loud music.

"Chill out bro, I'm at the bar with Damon" I answered and he sighed before speaking again more now a bit calmer.

"find Damon and get the fuck back home, we are coming back right now. He ordered and at that moment I knew something was wrong.

I managed to get Damon and myself into an Uber before making our way back to the house. Mason's black Range Rover was already parked in the driveway and we made our way inside without any idea on what to expect inside.

In the living room sat Mason and Axel, both busy on their phones. The atmosphere in the room was weird and tense. I cleared my throat and they both looked up at us with a stern look.

Axel patted the seat next to him and everyone took the hint and got seated on the sofa. Axels was the first to speak up.

"As you might know me and Mason have been in New York for a business trip. Long story short, I went to this club and bumped into a girl. I guess she somehow reminded me of Alexandra, but I just thought I was just going insane so I decided to ignore it."

Damon's jaw clenched at the mention of our little sister. And I could tell that everyone in the was feeling the same way. It didn't take more than the mentioning of her name to make me swell up with guilt and pain. I know it's been years, but it feels like it was only yesterday that we lost her.

She was without question the purest and most caring little girl ever. The way she held on to me when she was scared or the little giggles that accidentally escaped her mouth when she saw something funny. The night she went missing was by far the worst day of my life.

I remember being told to watch her while my brothers went to Paris for work. The following day we took her to see a movie and her smile was so big when she held on to my hand. After the movie ended I was stupid enough to let Damon talk me into going to a party and I saw how Alexa's smile instantly dropped when I handed her money for a taxi home.

I forgot about leaving her home alone and just focused on myself. It wasn't until the following day when I walked home and she was gone that I realized what I had done. We searched everywhere, but she was nowhere to be found.

That day our life's changed forever. Gone was the light of our day and it was completely our fault. Everyone became distant and just the sight of her books or personal items would make us fall apart again. One day the police station called us in to tell us that they had found the body of a young girl around Alexandra's age burned in the woods a couple of miles away from our home.

That day I broke down completely, I screamed until my lungs couldn't take it anymore every night. They made us look at the little girl's body to see if we could identify her as Alexa or recognize any of her belongings. I was relieved to know that it wasn't her after all.

Axel cleared his throat again. " A couple of days ago I got a call from the hospital in New York saying that they got a girl in after an accident and that I was listed as her emergency contact." Tears were now streaming down his face. I swallowed the lump in my troth and urged him to continue.

"She was in a critical condition and they told us to get there ASAP. In that hospital bed lied a girl that was apparently named Alex. She was the same girl from the club and my thoughts were confirmed by a DNA test. She was our little sister."

I looked over at Damon and I found him in a state of pure shock. I tried to say come up with something to say, but couldn't get any words out.

Mason that had managed to stay silent the entire time now spoke." here is a picture of her now" he handed us a stack of pictures and I couldn't believe it. The girl in the picture had long black hair and blue piercing eyes, just like Alexandra. Except for her eyes, nothing reminded me of her.

What happened to Alexandra? Was the question that kept repeating itself in my head.
