The last couple of days have been like a living hell. I couldn't even close my eyes without seeing Alexandra. It felt just like the days after her disappearance, at that time I was in a very dark place in life. I couldn't sleep at night and that affected my mood and I distanced myself from everyone. Everyone tried to find something to distract them from thinking about it. I turned to alcohol and partying , while Mason buried himself in work.

I would subconsciously walk inside her room to ask her to play a game with me or go get some food, before realising that she was gone.

being the second eldest meant that when our parents died, I was 15 and she was just a baby, that meant that to me and Mason she became more of a daughter than sister. Suddenly we were responsible for our little siblings. I didn't think I was able to give Alexa the life she deserved, but when I first got to hold her in my arms, I promised her that no one would hurt her and that I would always keep her safe. It feels like I failed Alexa and I will never forgive myself for it.

I was just watching tv with Mason in our hotel room when my phone buzzed from the kitchen counter. I got up from the couch and ran to the kitchen to get it. On the other end of the phone, it was a woman.

"Hello, am I speaking to Axel?" The woman asked, her voice a bit shaky.

"Yes, why are you calling my private number?" I was confused to why she would have my number that only my closet friends use. The words she spoke next broke me.

"Your sister had you put up as her emergency contact and she is now admitted to hospital" she took a small a small breath.

"she might not make it so I suggest you come to St Andrew's if you want to see her before she might go"

She hung up on me and I dropped the phone. I held on to the kitchen counter as I felt sick to my stomach. Mason stood up and was now standing in front of me with a confused expression. How the hell was I supposed to tell him? I was now a sobbing mess as I tried desperately to find my car keys.

"Axel, what the hell is happening?" He shouted. "The ho- hospital called and Alexa" I cried. Mason's features softened, his eyes empty.

"They said we need to go see her... because she might not make it" Mason stood speechless in front of me. "Alexandra?" he whispered as tears stained his cheeks. I finally managed to find my keys and I drove as quickly as I could to the hospital.

As soon as I had parked, Mason ran inside and straight up to the counter.

" Where is Alexandra Mortelli?" He frantically asked. The nurse typed it in on her computer.

" I am sorry there is no one here with that name" she said and then I remembered the girl at the club and that guy. He called her Alex.

"Try Alex Morelli" she typed in and clicked before she finally found her. "Room 466"

Mason was in full parent mode as he searched for room 466. It didn't take long before he stormed into one of the many rooms in the corridor. I wanted to follow him, but my body stood still. I don't know if I can bear seeing her hurt in a hospital bed.

As I stood there in the hallway a girl approached me. Her eyes was a bit puffy like she had been crying and she had multiple bruises and cuts on her arms.

"Hi, are you Axel, Alex's brother?" She asked. I gave her a small nod.

"Yes I am"

She carefully grabbed my arm "come on." she led me down the corridor and towards a room and motioned for me to step inside. The girl let me know that she will be back later. In the middle of the room was a hospital bed with all kinds of wires and machines surrounding it. In the bed lied Alexa, but not the Alexa I knew. The girl had raven black hair and she was so small and fragile. On the right side of the bed sat Mason who was currently stroking her hair while whispering into ear.

Mason might not be her "real" dad, but still, he was the guardian who showed up to every school play and took her to the park to get ice cream every Sunday. Years have passed since then, but she would always be our little angel.

I slowly approached the bed and took a seat next to Mason. "What happened to her? She doesn't look like she used to." He muttered.

I looked at my little sister. Her skin was pale and bruised. Wires covering her hands small hands. The sound of the heart monitor being the only thing reassuring me she was in fact alive.

Out of nowhere a young man bursted through the door. He ignored our presence as he approached Alexandras bed. Mason was the first to speak up "Who the hell are you?!" He asked the young man confused.

The guy looked at him sternly "I am her brother"he said.

Mason rise from his chair "The hell you are, I am her brother!" He shouted back at him.

While the two were arguing, another young man identical to the first came inside the hospital room.

"Sweet pea?" he exclaimed as he rushed to her side. He gently grabbed hand and cherished it.

"Can someone tell me what the fuck is going on?" Mason shouted again. I flinched at his tone, I could tell he was pissed off.

They young man next to Alexa answered him calmly "What's happening is that Alex has been in an accident and you idiots are here arguing instead of leaving her alone like she wishes. You are not her family any more, we are. So I suggest that you leave our sister so she can get better."

His words made me that maybe she intact didn't want us here. She left us and now she had found someone better. Someone that would treat her like the angel she was. We hadn't been there for her when she needed us.

More people rushed into the room to stay with her and it didn't feel like I belonged there. So I started walking towards the exit along with Mason.
