《Big Brothers | Completed ✔》Chapter 5

"Mom, open the door! We know Harper is in there!" Leo exclaimed from behind the door while banging on it.
"Honey, I really don't know what you're talking about!" Mom replied back and sending me a quick wink as I smiled.
"We're not afraid to break down the door!" Leo said and I rolled my eyes.
"If you do young man you're grounded," mom said calmly. This is one of the reasons I love my mom ladies and gentlemen.
The knocking suddenely stopped and we also heard, what seemed like it, retreating footsteps. Mom and I sighed simultaneously.
"Thanks, mom," I said smiling and she happily returned it.
▫▫▫
It's been a while since the boys have bothered me and my mom but I'm still cautious of going outside.
Though I'm literally dying of boredom.
"Honey it's okay if they try to get your phone from you, just shout out to me, alright?" Mom reassured me, it didn't work though, but nonetheless, I nodded slowly.
I got out of my chair and walked towards the door, I opened it a bit to peak outside and surprisingly nobody was there.
I opened the door fully and walked out, closing the door behind me. I kind of felt like I was in a movie, you know? When the main character tries to get away from the enemies.
I knew the twins were mad at me because whenever my brothers get mad at me, they call me by my full name and don't use my nickname.
Which is great and all, not the 'mad' part though. When my brothers want to be scary, they can be scary.
I silently made myself to the living room, and no one was there so I hurriedly ran up the stairs.
I didn't make it all the way upstairs because since I was so fast I literally tripped over my feet and fell flat on my face.

Curse my clumsiness.
I covered my mouth to not cry out in pain so that no one will hear. As I stood up on both feet, pain shot through my left ankle and I fell right back down.
I sighed in annoyance and prayed that none of my brothers or their friend left their rooms because that would be a disaster.
So I only had one option left.
I crawled on all fours to my room (aka safety) and as I reached my room I slammed it shut.
I slithered my way to the bed and sat on it lifting my left leg over so I could examine the damage that has been done. I lifted up my tights and gasped when I saw my ankle.
It was freakin purple.
Not like violet purple, just a light shade of it. Does that make sense? Hopefully.
I sighed and leaned my head on the bed frame, lost on what to do now. Should I call mom? No, then I'm going to make her more stressed than she already is. Maybe my brothers. I snorted myself at that, like am I stupid? Wait, I am.
Before I could think of more possible decisions, the door burst open to reveal Hayden and Neil. Luckily, I tucked my tights before they could see my ankle.
"Can I help you two?" I asked getting straight to the point.
They both shrugged, "Nah we're good." Hayden said.
"Then leave," I said pointing to the door.
They both shook their heads coming closer to me and I widen my eyes, "Hey! Wait I didn't do anything to you two, leave me alone!"
Neil grabbed my forearm and I squealed as he swiftly made me stand and I hissed in pain quietly, but they didn't notice.

He began to pull me downstairs and I was lipping slightly and I almost wanted to cry at how much it hurt, but I have never cried in front of my brothers because they're going to tease me about it.
Once we got downstairs I noticed all my brothers (including Aaron there) and I knew this was a trap. I just couldn't take it in anymore.
"Neil let me go! It hurts!" I screamed in pain and he snapped his head towards me and instantly let go. I fell on the ground and clutched my ankle.
Then I started crying.
Ugh, I'm pathetic.
"Holy shoot!" I heard either Lee or Leo exclaim but knowing them they said a word similar to it.
Someone scooped me up in their arm and I looked at them with a blurry vision, and it was Leo carrying me.
I was gently put down on a couch as I was calming down, I gulped and looked at everyone with worried expressions.
It was kind of funny since they never care about me.
That sounded depressing.
Conner sighed and sat at the end, "What happened?" He asked and I awkwardly chuckled.
"I tripped?" I said but it sounded more of a question, he shook his head slightly and went to the bathroom.
It was dead silent and I didn't like it. Conner came back with a gauze and he wrapped it around my ankle.
"Get some sleep, kiddo," he smiled gently wiping away some tears. I smiled too and laid down, thinking one thing.
Guess who's my favourite brother? ;)

Sorcery in Boston
The timid daughter of some of the greatest spellcasters ever to have lived has found herself in another world, courtesy of magic gone awry. In Boston, Massachusetts, in the year 1935, she finds some kind souls in a hard era. In the heart of the Great Depression, as war looms around the corner, she seeks to find her place, and must come to terms with both who she is and what she truly desires. Author's Notes: Release Note: I recently realized what the hold up is. My current mental state is not compatible with the planned ending. If I wrote the ending according to what currently feels right, it will be a wretched, cruel ending that feels monstrously unfair and invalidates the work of the various characters... because that's how my life feels at the moment. The planned ending is coming out hollow and awkward, no matter how I write it, and so I've been bashing my head. I will finish it, once I manage to either brute force something decent out, or once my head gets screwed on straight. Audience: This story is not for young children - it contains some profanity, sexual content, violence, gore, and significant adult themes. Most of these are handled delicately enough not to upset teens or adults (hopefully), hence the lack of relevant tags, but it is nonetheless unsuitable for youth. It's fairly slow paced, and focused on the development of very human, very flawed individuals. Length / Completion Estimates: The outline currently involves two books. Book 1 is expected to be done with Chapter 43. It'll probably be completely finished by sometime in March of this year. I expect to move on to the far-more-lighthearted Of Gods and Dungeons (currently in progress / on hiatus). Afterwards, I may decide to redo Book 1, or write Book 2, or actually start sharing the story most dear to me, that I've been working on for several years now. Draft 1: Please be aware that this is first draft material. I do intend to come back to do a second draft after the story is complete. If anyone notices any issues whatsoever with the story, please let me know (pm, etc) so that I can improve the second draft. Writer's Pledge: I've taken the Writer's Pledge, meaning I'm commiting to completing this story. I'm a proud member of WriTE, a group dedicated to finishing stories. It will be done! Behind the Scenes notes: This picture was commissioned from an inked artist by the name of DanP. Up until the time of the protagonist's arrival, history has proceeded as before. Some places and characters have been borrowed from wikipedia entries of interesting figures from the time. I will make note in the chapter comments when such things come up. Naturally, I've taken a great deal of liberty with them. In interest of respecting individuals, I've either attempted to portray them as accurately as possible, or modified them sufficiently enough that they're simply an inspiration, instead of a real portrayal. I've attempted to be as accurate to the era as possible, but I'm not a historian. If you're aware of inaccuracies, please, bring them to my attention so that I can correct them.

Saga of Fallen Kings, Book I: The Revenant Prince
The Philosopher King once conquered the known world, his power seemingly unlimited and his armies inexhaustible. Since that time his might has slowly unravelled, and his once steadfast empire has begun to crack, splinter and devour itself. In the isolated Southern Realms, where even magic has abandoned them, none of that matters. For years it has been filled with warring kingdoms, where as many kings die to the blade as to old age, and constant battles tear apart the land. When one such kingdom invades its old enemy, the King and his heir, Prince Caden, are killed. Unable to accept the loss of his family Prince Arian is broken, and when the Philosopher King stretches out his hand in aid, Arian takes it without a second thought. When Caden wakes from death, he's different. His eyes and soul have changed, and he finds a world filled with friends who no longer trust he's even human. Suddenly thrust onto the throne and indebted to the Philosopher King, Caden has no choice but to keep going - he must finish what his father started, and try to survive the machinations of the figure who now owns his fealty. Meanwhile something beyond death stirs for him, desiring nothing more than to drag him back into its embrace. Author's Note: This story used to be known as "A King of his Own", but after some consideration I have decided to rebrand it. The first reason is that I was growing increasingly dissatisfied with the title. The second is that I have come increasingly to view this story as a 'saga' containing multiple 'books' rather than one long, continuous publication, and as I did so I realized that as I was quickly getting to a point in the story where I wanted the first 'book' to end. This doesn't mean I'm going back on the things I said below - they're just going to continue in the next book of the Saga of Fallen Kings. :) Also, be aware that I do plan to edit this at some point. Though I take care to squash out any obvious errors when I proof-read, and do simple edits in that process, at some point I'm almost certainly going to do large edits that might significantly change parts of the story. Old author's notes: This started as a completely random writing session. There was no purpose or direction, but as I kept typing an entire world began to form in my mind that I knew I had to write about. My plan is to turn this story into a veritable medieval fantasy epic that spans an entire world, follows multiple character and storylines, and takes place over many years. The story has quite a grounded, almost 'realistic' start, but many more fantastical elements will be introduced, expanded upon and become central to the narrative. I have ideas for this story that make me genuinely excited and I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy writing it, and join me on what will hopefully become a truly massive fantasy epic. If you do enjoy this story please consider following, rating and leaving a review. I'm also happy to answer any questions or comments you have.
