《Law of God (Book 1)》eight

It has already been five hours since Jacob was brought into the interrogation room. Jacob was getting tired, and I was literally getting a headache over this. But if Jacob is into some kind of trouble, it is very important for Jacob to answer Detective James questions.
I wanted to just walk out of the interrogation room, and Jacob had just got finished saying that David did tell Jacob that he did apologize for being jealous. Jacob sighed, and Detective James cleared his throat, he asked Jacob if he wanted anything to drink? Jacob shook his head no, feeling like he was not being believed. "Jacob, we found one a knife, covered in blood," Detective James laid down the knife that was in a plastic bag due to it to belong to a crime.
"It has your fingerprints on it," I oh my gosh, leaning against the table, and I was now starting to see that Jacob is the one who murdered Izza. Jacob sighed, "I....I can, I can explain," Jacob said.
"Nah, you don't need to, you are obviously the murderer here, Jacob." Jacob didn't know what else to say, I was speechless.
"I-I- I..." Jacob then got up from his seat, and he walked towards the wall. "Can I please have a moment with my brother?" Jacob asked, softly in the tone of voice. Detective James sighed, he and his partner Evan left the interrogation room one last time, and I was just speechless still, that Jacob is the one who murdered Izza.

"Why?" I asked. Jacob then turned, and he shrugged, sighing. I looked at Jacob, and he just stood there against the wall, not giving me an answer due to my question. "I can't, I didn't do it," Jacob said.

I sighed, "Please, stop lying." Jacob swallowed hard, he then walked back to his seat, sat down and I just couldn't move. "I didn't do it." I chuckled, closing my eyes. I couldn't believe him, I couldn't believe Jacob. Jacob then tried to hold my hand, and I just stood up from the chair, walking up to the wall. "Why, Jac?" I asked. Jacob sighed, shrugging.
I crossed my arms, turning. "Why did you do it?" I asked, a little bit loudly. Jacob sighed, "Why are you accusing me of doing this?." I chuckled, shaking my head no, "No, you did it on purpose did you? You killed her on purpose, Jacob, now they're gonna send you to a prison, where you may never come out."
Jacob understood, shaking his head. "What? You're just gonna be selfish about it?" I asked. Jacob frowned, "I am not selfish," Jacob said, kind of angrily.
I sighed, shaking my head, understanding my brother. "Okay, "I said, softly, about to feel like I am gonna be sick. Until Detective James comes back inside the interrogation room and Jacob is off to be sent to prison. Detective Evans took Jacob himself, and I was just standing there by the wall, feeling all confused, stressed out, and Detective James could tell I didn't look so good.
*****
"Are you okay?"
"N-no, I am just, " I chuckled, and Detective James laid his hand on top of my shoulder. "I know this is something you didn't want to hear, but I am so sorry, " Detective James said.
I started to feel sicker, as I was hyperventilating, I felt a wave of nausea. "Where's your bathroom?" I asked. Detective James told me it was down the hall to the left. I immediately ran out of the interrogation room, and Detective James had left as well.
Until I had flushed the toilet, and unlocked the bathroom stall and walked up to the sink. I turned on the sink, and cold water was running. I rinsed my mouth, and I just looked at myself in the mirror.

An Unwavering Craftsman
Given the hereditary nature of classes, everyone expects Damien—the child of two high-tiered adventurers—to be granted a high-tier combat class of his own. Expectations are betrayed, however, when Damien finds himself instead saddled with a crafting class of the lowest possible tier: [Neophyte Tailor]. Left practically crippled compared to those with better classes, Damien wants to avoid becoming a pawn in the machinations of the nobility, desiring only to grind his level in peace while wondering why the usual rules of inheritance were broken. Was it his desire to excel by his own effort, rather than an unearned blessing from a god? Did the Five take offence at his opinions on the unfairness of hereditary classes? Or maybe it was something to do with the alien voice that intruded on his ceremony? A voice that offers great power, and freedom from the tyranny of the Five, but that never names its price. This story is litRPG-lite. While the class someone possesses controls most of their lives, people don't get dinged at for every level they gain, nor can they see their status without undergoing a special ritual. The MC has no romantic interest. Crafting is merely a way to game the system, and doesn't feature heavily in the story, aside from a few descriptions on how they're carrying out the system abuse. There is, on one unfortunate occasion, maths. The pace is quick. This was a participant in the Spring 2022 writathon. (i.e. it was posted as-written at high speed. I may give it another editing pass in the future.)
