I rolled my eyes, wondering why Mason was being so passive-aggressive. A hello would be just fine you know, Mason!
I clicked off of the chat and navigated my way towards Brandon's number. I clicked onto our chat and sighed deeply before typing up a message.
😕
I turned my phone off and slipped it into my pocket before rolling off my bed. I decided that I should probably raid the cupboard for some snacks since I've been here for an hour already and I haven't eaten anything since lunch.
I made my way into the kitchen and stopped dead in my tracks at the sight of my mother. "You know I still don't like that hairstyle right?" She said and disapproval and I shrugged my shoulder nonchalantly, "and I still have no care for your opinion." I said and she frowned deeply before shaking her head in disbelief and strutting out of the kitchen.
I made my way towards the fridge and retrieved a can of coke. Then I got my jar of Nutella out of the cupboard, along with a bag of popcorn and a packet of skittles. When I snack, I mean I'm having a full course meal - of junk.
I ripped open my packet of skittles and leaned against the counter, preparing to pop one into my mouth before a loud bang sent them flying out of my hands. I frowned deeply and cried out when my skittles toppled onto the floor.
You've got to be kidding me.
"Michelle, open the gate!" A muffled voice exclaimed, followed by the same demand, just with more swearing.
Mason.
I stormed out of the house and slammed the door shut behind me before marching down the path that led to the gate.
Mason was standing on the other side with a very annoyed Tristan and I rolled my eyes as I made my way towards the guard's post and unlocked the gate. Where the hell are those idiots anyways! "Mason, what the hell!?"
suddenly he grabbed my cheeks in his hands and smashed his lips down onto mine desperately. I gasped and hesitantly placed my arms around his waist as I willed myself to pull away. But even so, I could feel the desperation in that kiss and I wondered what the hell was going on.
I pulled my head back and peered up at him, flabbergasted. "What the hell was that for!?" I screamed and he ran his hands through his hair frantically, "we need to talk."

I snapped my head towards Tristan who eyed us peculiarly before he motioned towards his house and cleared his throat, "I'm just gonna go back inside." He said, his eyes flickering away from me before he pivoted on his heels and left.
My heart broke a little, knowing that Tristan probably still has feelings for me.
I haven't spoken to him in such a long time and honestly, I'm missing my best friend. "Let's go, Michelle," Mason mumbled as he intertwined our hands and tugged me down the path leading towards the house.
"What was that all about Mason?" My mother scolded as she appeared before us. He groaned loudly and shut the door behind him, ignoring my mother.
Without letting go of my hands he pulled me up the stairs and dragged me towards his room.
He slammed the door behind me and I slumped down onto his bed, peering up at him in confusion.
"Mason what's wr-"
"Kaleb's back and he's looking for you."
You know when it's Winter and you step outside into the cold air with little clothes to keep you warm and then that chill runs down your spine, takes control of your fingers, your ears, your face. . .every part of your body seizes from the biting cold weather.
Yeah, that's how I felt.
"Mason I - how the hell do you know about Kaleb?" I whispered and silence enveloped the room before a sigh escaped his lips.
"I know enough to know that you're not the person you portray to everyone. I know you more than you think I do."
He knows.
"What do you know?" I mumbled, dreading to hear the words escape his lips.
"I know that you were involved in the murder of Faye Mcflare that has yet to be solved. I know that you committed many felonies and you should be imprisoned right now. I know everything Michelle. . .I know Kaleb because he's my broth- he's like a brother to me." He said.
I pursed my lips in a thin line and lowered my face into my hands. Mason lowered himself down beside me and wrapped a hand around my wrist before pulling it away from my face. I was forced to look into his eyes and he frowned deeply as he peered into mine.
"Do you trust me?" He asked
Do I trust you?
You never told me you knew Kaleb. You hinted at the fact that you knew more about me than others but ignored me for weeks when I caught onto you. Who's to say you aren't working for Kaleb.

"I-I don't know." I whispered and he nodded his head as he intertwined our hands, "you should because I won't let Kaleb hurt you. I know the shit he's done, and despite what you may think of me I'm nothing like my br- I'm nothing like that asshole. I won't let him hurt you, okay?" He reassured me and I frowned deeply as I peered deeply into his eyes.
I tried to find it. . .find the deceit behind them but no matter how hard I looked it seemed sincere. As if he weren't lying.
Before I could answer my phone blared in my pocket and I flickered my eyes away from Mason as I retrieved it from my pocket.
❤️❤️
"Who's that?" Mason asked, snatching my phone away from my hands and ignoring my calls of protest. He furrowed his eyebrows as his eyes flickered to each message.
"Oh, your boyfriend," He spat.
"Mason give me my phone!"
"You saved me as crackhead?!" He muttered in disbelief as his eyes slid towards me. A chuckle escaped my lips as I slapped a hand over my mouth the prevent myself from laughing.
"I'm sorry but the idea came to my head when you called me a crackhead!"
He sauntered towards me and I squealed as he shoved me back onto the bed and crawled over me. He trapped both my hands over my head and lowered his face down towards mine before hissing lowly, "change my name."
"No."
"Change it or I break your phone." He threatened and I chuckled humorlessly before kicking him in the stomach with my knee and shoving him off of me. He groaned in pain and I rolled off the bed before grabbing it from his grasp.
"That's what you get for being an asshole!" I spat before rushing out of his room before he could retaliate.
I made my way back into the kitchen and decided that I'd find something to distract me from what just happened. Kaleb's back and he's looking for me. Mason knows everything about me that I've tried to keep buried from the public and. . .God.
I grabbed all the snacks I initially prepared before getting interrupted. Along with two glasses, a now popped bag of popcorn and a few more bags of chips; I made my way back up the stairs with it and towards Mason's room.
I dropped everything onto his bed and propped myself onto it.
The shower was running from his bathroom and I ignored it as I grabbed the remote and turned on the television. I navigated my way towards Netflix and for the next ten minutes scrolled through the app trying to decide what to watch.
Why is it so hard to pick a decent movie!?
I paused on the conjuring and sighed deeply before clicking onto it. Well, a horror movie it is I guess.
At first, I didn't realize that the shower had stopped running until Mason strolled out of the bathroom with only a towel covering everything. . .down below.
I trailed my eyes away from his torso and blushed deeply as he eyed me in amusement. He rolled his eyes and sauntered towards his closet before disappearing inside.
After five minutes of trying to collect myself, Mason reappeared, dressed in only a pair of grey basketball shorts and a vest. "You okay, dollface?" He inquired as he made his way towards me, a smirk plastered onto his face.
I shook my head side to side rapidly and turned my gaze towards the television as I tried ignoring him.
"Want me to kiss it better?"
I gawked at him and chuckled nervously as I shook my head, "I-I don't want to kiss you, pssht I have a boyfriend and you've kissed me many times without my permission since then."
"And you kissed back." He stated matter of factly and I frowned deeply, knowing it was true. "Well I mean as a reflex not intentio-" before I could reply his lips were already on mine and I sucked in a harsh breath as he pulled me closer towards him.
Shit.
I flickered my eyes shut and kissed him back, ignoring the voice in my head that screamed at me to not do it. That reminded me that I'm going down a dark path that I won't be able to escape from. A dark road I went down once and fought so hard to pull my way out of when Kaleb ran away.
But. . .
It's true what they told me before all of this happened.
Love can kill you.
I mean it almost did with Kaleb and look where it got me, a dead sister and a tainted heart.
All I know is that I'll kill for this love.
But it won't kill me.
