《Camille Lupin the Unicorn》Snape's Severe Disappointment

Camille's POV
After dinner, I focused on Sirius and Harry. I was able to see more of the vision. They would survive the attack, but Sirius would be caught. I had to go to Dumbledore. Only he could help. My parents agreed and told me Sirius is always welcome. I hugged them tightly before flooing to Dumbledore's office.
"Ah Miss Lupin, I trust you've heard about Sirius" he says.
"He's innocent Dumbledore, he can't die" I tell him.
"He's the father isn't he?" he asks.
"Like you had to ask" I state.
"Don't worry, I have a plan to save him" he assures me. "Do you trust me?" he asks me.
"Of course" I tell him.
"Then turn into Professor Prewett and follow me" he instructs. I do so and he leads me to the hospital wing. Where we find Hermione an Harry arguing with Snape & Fudge. While Ron is on a hospital bed with his leg in a cast. Madame Pomfrey was trying to ease the tension in the room.
"Professor Prewett Professor Dumbledore, Sirius Black..." Harry starts to say when he sees us.
"For heaven's sake!" Madame Pomfrey exclaims. "Is this a hospital wing or not? Headmaster, I must insist..." she tries to say.
"My apologies, Poppy. But Melody and I need a word with Mr. Potter and Miss Granger" Dumbledore tells her calmly. "I have just been talking to Sirius Black" he adds. I look at him surprised, that was news to me. Must of been just before I arrived.
"I suppose he's told you the same fairy tale he's planted in Potter's mind?" Snape demands. I glare at him. "Something about a rat, and Pettigrew being alive" he drawls.
"That, indeed, is Black's story" Dumbledore states.
"And does my evidence count for nothing?" Snape asks with a snarl. "Peter Pettigrew was not in the Shrieking Shack, nor did I see any sign of him on the grounds" he states.
"That was because you were knocked out, Professor!" Hermione states.
"Miss Granger, HOLD YOUR TONGUE!" Snape snaps.
"Don't speak to her in that tone Snape" I snap back.
"I would like to speak to Harry and Hermione alone, with Melody" Dumbledore states. "Cornelius, Severus, Poppy. Please leave us" he instructs.
"Headmaster! They need treatment, they need rest" Pomfrey tells him earnestly.
"It won't take long Poppy and I'll help you tend to them" I assure her.
"This cannot wait, I must insist" Dumbledore adds. Madam Pomfrey pursed her lips and strode away into her office at the end of the ward, slamming the door behind her. Fudge consulted the large gold pocket watch dangling from his waistcoat.

"The Dementors should have arrived by now, I'll go and meet them. Dumbledore, I'll see you upstairs" Fudge states before leaving. I stiffened at the mention of the dementors. I hope Dumbledore's plan works.
"You surely don't believe a word of Black's story?" Snape whispers in Dumbledore's ear.
"I wish to speak to Harry and Hermione alone" Dumbledore tells him.
"Sirius Black showed he was capable of murder at the age of sixteen" Snape states. "You haven't forgotten that, Headmaster? You haven't forgotten that he once tried to kill me?" he asks.
"Honestly it was your fault for snooping, besides you wouldn't of died" I state.
"My memory is as good as it ever was, Severus" Dumbledore adds. Snape turned on his heel and marched through the door Fudge was still holding. It closed behind them.
"Finally" I say and let my illusion fall turning back into myself. Harry and Hermione start to rant. "Enough you two, listen to Dumbledore and don't interrupt" I tell them. They go silent.
"There is not a shred of proof to support Black's story, except your word -- and the word of two thirteen-year-old wizards will not convince anybody. A street full of eyewitnesses swore they saw Sirius murder Pettigrew. I myself gave evidence to the Ministry that Sirius had been the Potters' Secret-Keeper" Dumbledore explains.
"Professor Lupin can tell you..." Harry starts to say.
"Professor Lupin is currently deep in the forest, unable to tell anyone anything. By the time he is human again, it will be too late, Sirius will be worse than dead. I might add that werewolves are so mistrusted by most of our kind that his support will count for very little and the fact that he and Sirius are old friends" Dumbledore states.
"But.." Harry says desperately.
"Listen to me, Harry. It is too late, you understand me? You must see that Professor Snape's version of events is far more convincing than yours" Dumbledore tells him.
"He hates Sirius, all because of some stupid trick Sirius played on him" Hermione states.
"Sirius has not acted like an innocent man. The attack on the Fat Lady, entering Gryffindor Tower with a knife. Without Pettigrew, alive or dead, we have no chance of overturning Sirius's sentence" Dumbledore tells them.
"But you believe us" they say.
"Yes, we do" I tell them.
"But I have no power to make other men see the truth, or to overrule the Minister of Magic" Dumbledore adds. "What we need, is more time" he states looking at Hermione.
"But, OH!" Hermione says in realization.
"Sirius is locked in Professor Flitwick's office on the seventh floor. Thirteenth window from the right of the West Tower. If all goes well, you will be able to save more than one innocent life tonight. But remember this, both of you: you must not be seen. Miss Granger, you know the law -- you know what is at stake. . . You -- must -- not -- be --seen" Dumbledore tells them.

He takes out a key. "I am going to lock you in. It is five minutes to midnight. Miss Granger, three turns should do it. Good luck" Dumbledore says before leaving the room.
"Tell Sirius I'll see him at the den when school finishes" I tell Hermione.
"Yes" she says as she throws the chain of her time turner around Harry's neck.
"Three turns, good luck" I tell her before she turns it three times. She and Harry disappeared. Not even ten seconds later they enter the room and I hear the door lock. "On bed you two" I tell them as Pomfrey appears. I turn back in Melody and help her tend to the three students.
Soon we hear a distant roar of fury echoing from somewhere above us. "What was that?" said Madam Pomfrey in alarm. I shrug at her. We can hear angry voices, growing louder and louder. Madam Pomfrey was staring at the door. "Really -- they'll wake everybody up! What do they think they're doing?" she mutters.
"He must have Disapparated, Severus. We should have left somebody in the room with him" Fudge states.
"YOU CAN'T APPARATE OR DISAPPARATE INSIDE THIS CASTLE! THIS -- HAS -- SOMETHING -- TO -- DO -- WITH -- POTTER!" Snape roars from outside the door.
"Severus -- be reasonable -- Harry has been locked up" Fudge tells them. BAM. The door of the hospital wing burst open. Fudge, Snape, and Dumbledore came striding into the ward. Dumbledore alone looked calm. Indeed, he looked as though he was quite enjoying himself. Fudge appeared angry. But Snape was beside himself.
"Out with it Potter! What did you do?!" Snape demands.
"Professor Snape, control yourself" Poppy tells him.
"See here, Snape, be reasonable" Fudge says. "This door's been locked, we just saw" he states.
"THEY HELPED HIM ESCAPE, I KNOW IT!" Snape howls. Pointing at Hermione and Harry. His face was twisted; spit was flying from his mouth.
"That will do, Severus" Dumbledore tells him calmly. "Think about what you are saying. This door has been locked since I left the ward ten minutes ago. Madam Pomfrey, Professor Prewett have these students left their beds?" he asks us.
"Of course not! I would of heard them" Poppy states.
"Besides, we've been with them the whole time since you left" I add. Poppy nods her head in agreement.
"Well, there you have it, Severus" Dumbledore says calmly. "Unless you are suggesting that Harry and Hermione are able to be in two places at once, I'm afraid I don't see any point in troubling them further" he states.
Snape stood there, seething, staring from Fudge, who looked thoroughly shocked at his behavior, to Dumbledore, whose eyes were twinkling behind his glasses. Snape whirled about, robes swishing behind him, and stormed out of the ward. "Fellow seems quite unbalanced" Fudge tells Dumbledore.
"Oh, he's not unbalanced" Dumbledore assures him. "He's just suffered a severe disappointment" he states.
"He's not the only one" Fudge mutters. "The Daily Prophet's going to have a field day! We had Black cornered and he slipped through our fingers yet again! All it needs now is for the story of that Hippogriff's escape to get out, and I'll be a laughingstock! Well. . . I'd better go and notify the Ministry" he states.
"And the dementors?" I ask.
"They'll be removed from the school, I trust?" Dumbledore asks.
"Oh yes, they'll have to go" Fudge tells us. "Never dreamed they'd attempt to administer the Kiss on an innocent boy. . . Completely out of control. . . no, I'll have them packed off back to Azkaban tonight . . . Perhaps we should think about dragons at the school entrance" he suggests.
"Hagrid would like that" Dumbledore tells him. He left with Fudge. Poppy locks the door again and we finished tending to the teens.
"Now you should rest" she tells me. "All that stress is not good for the baby" she states. I don't argue with her and lay on a free bed. I fall asleep quickly.
(Time skip)
Gryffindor won the House Cup. Remus resigned after Snape told his students about his furry little problem. Honestly, I wanted to hex him. But Remus told me he wasn't worth it. Anyway I arrive at my parents house with Remus and am greeted by Sirius.
"I'm so glad you're alright" I tell him.
"I'm fine, are you and Roxana ok?" he asks me.
"We're fine" I assure him. We all sit down and have a family dinner. Before Sirius and I called it a night. Falling asleep in each others arms.

8 160Almost a Good Person
A memory, a memory of a boy who wanted more than pain, of a girl who wanted more than death, and an Isle that should not exist. The Isle of Red is a small, unassuming, quiet place. It is just large enough for a college, a small town, and maybe even a few more unusual sorts of places. Of course, the townsfolk practically know each other as family. Flush-faced regulars can be found toasting just about anything in the Briar's Brew, then, a few streets away, the same haggle of older women stationed themselves on their perch as they did every day from one of the few balconies in Central Square. They fuss away now, spouting the usual gossip as they watch us all from on high. Then there is the College here on the Isle of Red. My college. It has been often described as an unusual place by a good deal of people on the mainland. If they only would visit -why I am sure they'll soon have a change of heart, they may even come to find it a quaint sort of place, odd but in the same way a tattered old quilt can be both odd looking and warm, and especially soft. We teach mostly the same sort of disciplines here, with fantastic and absolutely normal professors.I must conclude that I am quite smitten with myself. The stage is set with a level of perfection that would have astonished me in my youth. They are coming. Derek will follow her. He knows the weight of reality too intimately, but she will be his true north if only for a short time. A beacon in the storm to show him the stunning pastels and brightness the sun may yet refract through his thinner, sharper pieces. Theoline will lead as she always has- well not always, not yet. She holds onto questions feverishly tight, that one. Lights them up inside like a new type of fuel without the slightest worry of being burned. She knows... There is but a certain few who can look at a map and find nothing where I stand but the Atlantic Ocean. And still, there is earth beneath me, a noisy pub down the road from me, and several people clucking conspiratorially on a balcony above me. She knows... that the Isle of Red doesn't belong here. Neither, technically, do I. (Hello! Chapters will be posted regularly on this website and also at Booksie: Almost a Good Person, book by KenjaminButton (booksie.com)Stay tuned for Chapter 3 to be uploaded on 5/28/2022!)
