O N E:
The days always start off the same for Jungkook. Nothing was out of the ordinary and he wasn't planning for major changes any time soon. Jungkook woke up as soon as the first ring of his alarm went off, and he sits up in his bed, his dark brown hair sticking up in different places. Tiredly, he drags his body out of his bedroom and into the bathroom where he almost trips over his baby sister, "Minnie! Watch out!" Jungkook groans, picking her up and taking her to his parents room.
"Mum...Minnie keeps crawling everywhere!" Minnie gurgles, and tries to pull off Jungkook's nose before hiccuping and giggling. Jungkook ruffles the slight hair that she does have and hands her over his dad. "I'm sorry Jungkook, she's going to want to crawl. You were the exact same." Jungkook's father chuckles at the memory of Jungkook barely learning how to crawl.
"Thanks dad," Jungkook days dryly before leaving the room. But before he leaves, he kisses his sister and waves his parents goodbye. "Bye Mum!" Jungkook hears a groan in response, and snickers. His mum never was an early bird.
Walking over the bathroom, he finally begins to start his day. First by brushing his teeth.
By the time Jungkook was done, the sun had fully come up, and the day was looking brighter than before. He smiles brightly when he hears the sound of tweeting birds. Ever since he was a child he had found the sound of morning chirps so relaxing. Jungkook then begins to pack his bag, placing all of his books neatly in, and then making sure that his inhaler was in his bag.
Asthma was an issue Jungkook has had to deal with ever since he was a child, amongst many others in the world. He had always believed that shortness of breath was such an inconvenient thing to have as it always restricted him from doing even the simplest of things, such as sports or even talk to fast.
Sighing, he starts to move downstairs, trying not to slip on the banisters of the staircase. "Jungkook? Baby are you leaving already?" Jungkook turns around to the sound of his mother, she is wearing a wooly bathrobe with fluffy slippers, and just like Jungkook's, her hair was sticking up in many different directions.
Jungkook walks back up the stairs slowly, and places a kiss against his mother's cheek, "no mum. I need to eat and then I'll be leaving for school." She nods with tired eyes before handing him some lunch money, "be safe and study hard." He smiles at his mother before walking downstairs and into the dark kitchen.
He begins by opening all of the blinds, bringing some light into the room, and then he opens the garden door; allowing fresh air to enter the house. Jungkook makes some toast, and pours himself a hearty glass of orange juice before standing at the doorway of his garden.
Fresh air in the morning was also very important to the brown haired boy, he believes that fresh air first thing in the morning could brighten up a person's day.

After he finishes, he cleans up, locking the garden door and putting everything away. With one more glance towards his kitchen, he leaves and is on his way to school.
---
As much as Jungkook loves winter, walking to school in the cold weather was something he had always disliked. Especially when the cold would first attack his fingers, trailing up to around everywhere else on his body like a harsh plague. Shivering, he sighs in relief at seeing his school, "finally some warmth," he mutters to himself, rushing in.
On his way in, harsh shoulders nudge past him, making him slam into the door. Raising his shocked eyes, he sees the broad back of Kim Taehyung. Jungkook looks down to his feet and continues walking.
"The reason why that boy turned into an asshole, I can never understand," Jungkook's friend Kyungsoo walks over next to Jungkook, putting his arm around the small boy. Jungkook laughs sheepishly, "yeah, I guess so."
"I mean, how is it that ten years ago you were best friends with that idiotic thick headed egomaniac?" Kyungsoo chuckles loudly as he walks Jungkook to his first period. Jungkook just shrugs as a reply, tightening his hold on his bag handles.
It was true. Ten years ago, Kim Taehyung and Jeon Jungkook were the best of friends. No one could separate them. Where one went, the other one followed. However, their friendship had a nasty downfall after Taehyung's parents got divorced. After that it was like Taehyung didn't even know Jungkook. He didn't want to speak to his friend, he distanced himself and he started to behave badly. They were only children but Jungkook knew that Taehyung was never going to be the same after losing his father to someone else.
Sighing, Jungkook snaps out of his thoughts and waves Kyungsoo goodbye before heading into his classroom.
Jungkook was never super confident but he was also never super shy. He just preferred to have lesser friends than most and speak a little less. He never wanted the spotlight on himself.
The small boy heads over to his usual seat next to a girl called "Wendy."
Wendy smiles at him before looking back at her work and scribbling away. Jungkook gets out his books and a pen, but as he did that, a large hand swipes in front of his desk and all of his books go toppling to the ground. Jungkook's eyes trail from thick combat boots to a silver chain to Taehyung's cold eyes.
Jungkook never considered himself to be bullied by Taehyung, even with the constant picking on him, it was in a way that no one else could even point and laugh at Jungkook. It was a sick, twisted way but just sometimes Jungkook was grateful. He almost goes into believing that Taehyung just might care for Jungkook just a little bit, but then he remembers that if Taehyung really cared, he would've thought about the last ten years and protected him like a real friend, not a wannabe bully.
He watches as the tall boy donned in leather, rushes past to his own seat at the back, where his head immediately falls down onto the desk, and his breathing regulates signalling that he's already sleeping. "the teacher hasn't even came yet and he's already gone," Wendy mutters with disgust.

"Maybe he just had a long night," Jungkook stupidly defends. He mentally scolds himself when Wendy gives him that look. "Yeah right! It's not like he goes out partying every night. He's a right solid student who studies until 3am." Jungkook smiles nervously.
Wendy was the most perfect student. Who thrived in pushing her education as the top priority.
She continues to take her notes as Jungkook takes a quick glance at Taehyung again, before averting his eyes to the front board, right as his teacher walks in.
"Good morning students!"
Not one student replies, leaving Jungkook's teacher to just sigh and turn to the board. She picks up her pen and starts to write on the board, ‘school trip’.
And just like that, the whole classroom comes alive, the students bustling, and people talking to their friends in excitement. "Alright students! I knew that would get you guys alive!" The classroom falls silent again.
"I was able to convince the principal to allow this class to go on a residential. And I know that you may be wondering, what kind of residential? Well, since last semester the grades you all have gotten were so excellent, I just had to allow you guys to celebrate."
Mrs. Wilson quickly begins to type on her computer, a PowerPoint opening up to say "natural habitat residential." She allows Jungkook and his peers to look closely at the different pictures on the slides. One was of a hike trail, another one was a small campfire, and another one was of bunkers.
After the PowerPoint finishes, Mrs. Wilson stands up, her hands clasped together. "And if you haven't realised by now, we're going on a month long trip to one of the best natural habitat resources in the country. Of course, you will need to sign a letter, along with your parents,"
Mrs. Wilson picks up a stack of papers from the front and slowly hands them out one by one, "however, I want to deeply express that this is an educational trip. We will be doing daily classes, some challenges, and weekly hikes up four different trails. And you will be writing weekly recounts."
Some students quietly groan but others bustle in further excitement.
Jungkook, however, was feeling doubt in his heart, he knew that going on a month long trip with peers that he rarely spoke to was absolutely daunting to him. And one thing he knew for sure was that he wasn't going to be able to back out because the letter states in bold words, ""
His parents would drool at the sight of ‘educational’ and send him on his merry way.
"Oh and another quick thing to add, you will be staying in cabins. They're are enough rooms to share for two each room. Boys and girls will be kept in different cabins and I will be assigning your roommate. You have until the end of this week to hand in the letters and like the letter says, next Sunday you arrive to school at 9am, ready to leave. This is so we can spend a night of rest and be up for the first hike of the month."
A few students, including Jungkook, whine when they find out roommates will be assigned. Jungkook fears who his partner is going to be. Slouching into his chair, he shoves the letter into his bag. Wendy leans over, "I don't know about you, but I'm definitely not ready to spend a whole month with these hormonal slobs." Jungkook sniggers quietly, and watches as Wendy rolls her eyes exaggeratedly.
She tries to mimick some of the students, "I really like him! But he likes my sister more! I'm just going to have to sleep with his best friend to get his attention." She whispers in a fake tone before gagging, "I can't stand the girls here so I don't know how I'm going to share a whole cabin with them."
Jungkook nods in agreement, "I mean I know of the boys but apparently I'm not ‘man’ enough for them. So it's going to be a wonder how we both survive." Wendy closes her notebook, sliding it over to Jungkook so he could take a look at her extra notes.
"Best case scenario we can hope for?" She asks Jungkook, watching him with attentive eyes. He pauses, talking his pen on his chin for a second or two before he looks back at her, "that we somehow end up as partners and have a room in the girls cabins because boys are ruthless and the girls wouldn't mind because I'm gay."
Wendy chuckles, doodling on her hand.
Now that Jungkook really thought about it, Wendy and him wouldn't even have become friend's if it wasn't for the seating plan. Two terms ago the seating plan changed, and Jungkook was placed next to Wendy. The two barely used to talk but after a few lessons they started talking and became good friends. Even though she spends all of her time in the library, Jungkook and Kyungsoo got used to spending their lunches in the library.
"Hey Jungkook," Wendy whispers over to him. Jungkook looks at Wendy, "what?" She quickly looks over at Mrs. Wilson who's writing in her calender before saying, "the library is shut today, so we're going to have to spend lunch in the cafeteria."
Jungkook's smile reaches his ears as the bell rings, "me and Kyungsoo have been waiting for this moment for months."
The two of them both pack up, and head out. But as they leave they hear Mrs. Wilson shout, "don't forget your letters! The earlier you hand them in, the better!"
Dread starts to pulse through Jungkook again, as he realises that he's totally done for.

Ghostified City
‘Ghostified City’ is a post-dystopian sci-fi tale, set in a fading world that might be a future version of ours, running out on autopilot into oblivion. Adaman Yimmand is a simple robofactory operator in The City who's working with robots and machines every day. He doesn’t even realise that he might not have met another actual human being in years. Everything begins when he breaks his routine for once and enters a bar where he meets Evelith. This pesky other person does not let him go after he has had his -rather terrible- beer, because according to her actual humans are much rarer than he’s aware of. And from then on ‘the genie is out of the bottle and won’t get back in’, to use her words: Adaman meets more people, and gradually he has no choice but to accept that the reality of The City is not what he always thought it was, and to face the darkness of a fading humanity on the brink of self-inflicted extinction. Is there any hope left for him, and for his species? I have selected 'sexual content' and 'traumatising content' to be on the safe side, because there is a stripclub-like venue in the background of the story, and an almost-extinct humanity that has institutionalised suicide which might be disturbing to some. Apart from that it's not really a heavy 'adult' story.('Ghostified City' is my first long story in English as opposed to my native language Dutch, and an earlier version was published on my fiction blog 'Oranderra' until I stopped updating. This is a slightly altered version of the first series.)

I am not professionally trained as a writer but I have tried my best to teach myself and make the chapters as clean as possible. I believe I have reached a point where my limited skills cannot improve the work or make any more corrections. It is very difficult to show this work, but if I do not, I fear I will never improve and learn. So here it is. To anyone who lends the time to read all of this and any of my chapters. Thank you.
