《Fate》Chapter 35

"Yah! Jungkook-ah! Careful!" Jin's yell echoed in the hallway as the concerned later ran downstairs giving a small nod.
"Don't know why these maknaes are getting so unpredictable as they are aging." Jin sat with a huff beside Hoseok, who was peeling a banana to eat. They just rehearsed their main song's choreography for the upcoming album. Currently, they were in their practice room where everyone was scattered in their free time.
"Just as you are getting young day by day?" He commented offering the fruit in his hand. Jin refused it as he went,
"So you are saying you are glad that this worldwide handsome is sitting beside you?" he gave his mischievous grin face.
"This reminds me I should better sit with someone else." Hoseok stood up and went to Jimin who was reading something on his phone, with his back facing the mirror.
"Yahhh! Youngers are getting unpredictable." Jin's face broke into displeased expression as he eyed the latter.
The whole practice room was mixed up with chaotic and weird vibes.
Meanwhile...
The scene was little different downstairs,
Jungkook's pov.
"Break!" Hobi hyung announced.
Time to go downstairs.
I had offered Y/N to help her with her project, which I am going to do right now as well. I picked up my jacket and saw my wristwatch,
3:45?!
We are supposed to start at 4??
I rushed downstairs and first went into my bathroom to freshen up. Thinking about what I am doing right now...
To be honest I don't know why I offered to help her at first. It's just when we were talking yesterday, this weird being inside me got me to say that.
And when she accepted the offer...I felt happy?
Of course happy as I was able to help a little. By this time, we have kind of became acquainted with each other. Friends may be the correct word, but I don't share that bond with her right now to call it friendship? Like I haven't talked that much with her or known her.
What I know from living under the same roof is, she is certainly a nice person. It's weird to think the very first I saw her versus now.
It's just...
I feel happy around her. I like to talk to her.
I get these weird butterflies when she is near me, and it feels different?
Don't know why but last night when she called me "Jung Koo" it still stuck in my head. I wasn't sure if it just slipped from her tongue or was on purpose...?
It's just...I want to know her more.

I quickened my pace and now I stood in front of her door at 4:15
I softly knocked on the door.
Why are you getting this nervous Jungkook? This is your 'Own' home for god's sake.
An acknowledgment came from inside, and the door opened.
Eunji?
"Jungkook? You here?" She asked. I was expecting...
"What happened?" She asked me with a curious gaze. Before I could speak, Y/N appeared behind her.
From closet?
"Oh! You here, come in. Eunji" She signaled her as I entered the room.
"Sit, and give me a minute." She said and started arranging the papers on her desk. I sat on the edge of the bed with the support of a headboard.
Eunji spoke something in Y/N's ears as she glanced over my side.
Why does this feel scary?
Unexpectedly, she went out of the room as Y/N approached me with her laptop and sheets.
"Here are the things, wait, markers." She picked markers from her table and came back.
"We can start now, we are almost done," I murmured as I picked up her assignment copy. I was looking at the copy on purpose until she settles down.
Why she isn't sitting?
I looked up and found her staring at me with requesting eyes?
What happened to her?
"Um, You can sit here." She gestured me to sit on the opposite side.
"Ah, It's okay, I'm fine." I smiled at her.
"Ani, you are sitting on my jacket.." She trailed off apologetically.
Oh?!
"Oh, I-I'm sorry." I gave her a quick nod as shifted immediately.
"Sorry if I sounded rude," She apologized as she folded the jacket.
"No no, it's fine. Where were we by the way?" I tried to change the topic.
"Oh, we were on the fourth dialect." She said as we started on our work.
Y/N POV
I can't thank Jungkook enough for how he is helping me.
He came right after practice as he had said.
man of his words.
I forgot to tell Eunji about that, so when he came she was confused. I sent her away saying she should not disturb us as I don't do when she be with Taehyung. I mean for the project of course.
I mean, Won't you feel weird when the group you have been staning for long, you start living with them suddenly and the person who used to be your celebrity crush is helping in your project...
I have stopped thinking so much to be at ease and concentrate on what's present. I
It was close to evening and we were still in my room.

"Pyojuneo is another name for seoulmal, right?" I asked. [ Seoul accent]
"Ah, geurae." He nodded. [right]
I revised my notes again when the phone rang. I saw the caller Id as I got confused.
Why halmeoni is calling me?
I signaled Jungkook to which he nodded and I stood up to attend the call.
"Yeobosyeo halmeoni."
"Yeobosyeo. How are you Y/N?"
"I am good, you? Restaurant?"
"Nice. Everything is going fine. Since it's the holiday season, I am planning on going to the old house at Gyeongsang-si." she chirped on another side.
She had her own house back in Gyeongsang, her hometown.
"Oh, That's great halmeoni. You may be able to see your granddaughter." I said.
"Correct. One reason is my granddaughter only. Her professor had complained to me that she wasn't attending any classes. I need to check what is going on there. She has only me after all." She sighed.
Halmeoni only had her granddaughter in the name of family. Her son and his wife had died in an accident, but her granddaughter survived the crash somehow. Granny is very protective and soft for her.
I know how she loves and cherishes her only family. She raised her after all.
"Oh no. Let me know if I can do anything Halmeoni." I sympathized.
"Hmm. I let you know beforehand so you don't get worried." She laughed a bit.
"Ah, You still remember?"
"Of course, you told me to let you know. I need to pack now. Take care dear." She said sweetly.
"You too. Bye."
She hang up the call as I turned back to my place.
"Was it the owner of Granny Snack Point?" Jungkook suddenly asked.
"Ah, yes. How you know though?" I asked surprised as I kept the phone on the side table.
"You were saying Halmeoni so...Well, I didn't listen on purpose, I just-"
"Hey, chill, the room is already small and I was in the room so it's obvious you must have heard it." I chuckled a bit. He gave an awkward bunny laugh as hide his face in his palm.
Is he blushing?
But it was so cute though,
I shook my head as he removed his hand and looked back again.
"You are close with her?" He asked, which caught me off guard.
"Ah, yes I am." I smiled genuinely.
"Well, it's quite like, you know-
"Weird?"
"Ah no, Not weird but..."
"I see what you are trying to say. You are saying that how can I be that close with her when I am a mere regular customer that too a foreigner?" I said.
"Ah, yes." He agreed.
"Well...It's a long story.." I paused, chuckling.
"I am willing to listen you know." He said sitting upright.
I looked over him in disbelief, whereas he just took a cushion from the side and kept it in his lap.
"You can start." He said cutely, his face resting on his hand, which rested on his palm.
[Like this, like kinda xD
]
"Okay, so when I came to Seoul the very first, it was really hard to adjust. First because of climate, second food, and third, university schedule. I hadn't thought that it will gonna be that difficult. Since Halmeoni's restaurant was very near my institute, I used to go there and order only rice. Since I am a vegetarian, as you know. But Halmeoni noticed it and started making some vegetarian versions for me. I was so glad for her. I became..like a regular customer? Just like that we started getting more acquainted and had brief conversations about my college and stuff.
One day I visited her restaurant quite late due to extra class. It was strange because the lights were off and the gates were open. I still went inside and there was no one. I started getting those weird feeling inside me. When I was going out, I saw granny unconscious on the other side of the counter. I seriously got afraid. I took her to the hospital somehow. I was new in the city and didn't even know the routes.
She was so drained out that she got up two days later. I came to know there that she didn't have any family besides her granddaughter. I tried contacting her, but she was unreachable. So, I used to visit her and look after her with the help of Eunji.
That's how she started trusting me and developed a faith in me..." I ended my story and met eyes with the person in front of me.
He was looking right into my eyes, and I felt a little bizarre.
I waved my hand in front of him.
"Oh, you are really nice Y/N. I am happy you aren't a person to leave when seeing someone in difficulty. He said, a small smile forming on his lips.
"That's sweet of you..." I could only say that.
His notification dinged the moment after. He read something, and then looked over me.
"We are getting called. Let's go." He said.
"Okay," I got up, and we made our way out together.

“Hello! My humble audience! I, the Bard of the North, am going to tell you a tale. Nothing new, nothing old. A story of a hero, some may say, others a poor boy who was hated by the world.” The storyteller paused as he waited, right timing was everything when telling a story. Pacing… Too slow and the audience became bored then left without tossing even the smallest of coins. If he spoke too fast and rushed the story. It would leave the audience confused and having no reason to be impressed. So like any good storyteller, the Bard has to do a balancing act of sorts. Not too slow, not too fast. Just perfectly in the middle. “In a shattered country in the south, a novice princeling has the ambition to mend a torn tapestry that is his birthplace. Struggling to fend off those who would usurp the throne in an unending civil war spanning centuries. A mercenary that left only death in his wake, unable to stave off the monotony and peace of life. He looks back at the path laden with bodies, wondering if it was all worth it. Wandering souls summoned by a madman, travel away from a wasteland in a foreign land, the first alone, the others as companions. A deity, ancient in her years, waiting to be freed from a duty she no longer enjoys. For all these people and their stories, none are the hero of this tale. No, the hero is not grand, not wise, not ready.. he was punished for nothing of his doing, who was an outcast that was unloved by many, including his father.” This was always the big reveal novices use to jump off into their story. He did not start here, instead, like any good fishermen, he set the bait and waited until the fish bit before pulling. As he saw the audience's eyes focus, he then started the backstory. The harness, that stopped the listeners from having metaphorical whiplash. The foreshadowing. “But that is not where the story starts. No, not even the hero's birth. Where the story begins, is the boredom of the deity, a deity many know of. She who hunts for the impossible, the guide for those who have lost the path, the Huntress of Mallon--” A small pause, a short breath. “--All old names for a single powerful being that has roamed the grounds of this continent longer than any line of kings or queens, lords or ladies. A being of worship for many an individual…” One last breath. And he began singing the first verse.
