My dear, did you know that

I once wanted to leave the country,

That I was set to leave you here

To study college overseas

To make something of myself

Since during those times

I felt that I wasn't worth it

Especially in your eyes

Since when I saw thee

I told myself that you deserved the best

And only the very best

For you didn't know what I see

That's why please forgive me

For I felt I needed to prove something to you

For you to accept me back then

But that was the old me

Because the new me

Realized that I also don't know

What you see in me

Because in reality, the best that I see others has

Which I was searching for

Yearning to have, all those years ago

We're just a fantasy

Since the one that I needed the most

Was already standing right in front of me

Aside from you, my dearest, it's also me

For maybe yours truly

Can be the best for thee

For, in the end, we both deserve the best

And only the very best

Because our hearts have a lot to give

Especially towards the world,

And this fact, others, and God can attest
