《My Humble Adobe Of Short Stories》Wrecked

This is it, my time to go. Everything is over, my life, my family, my three year old sister who saw me as her inspiration, her idol. What would she think of her brother when she grows up and get to know me. I am not the superhero whom she would look up to with admiration, she won't even see me as a normal human being who gave her those piggie back rides when she was young. The world is saying many things about me, things I don't even want to hear, they did not care to ask me what led to that situation. But you know what, the world doesn't matter, my family does, that also not anymore because now I have broken their trust. It was a mistake, a huge one I admit and I am not at all pleased with what happened that night, a week ago. This particular incident has led me to the depths of guilt where many nights I wake up with a terrible nightmare the events repeatedly playing in my mind like a stuck CD player.
The sirens from the police cars brought me out of my thoughts and then a rattle on my door. I picked up my crumbled courage, took a couple of deep breaths and walked towards the wooden door. First I unlocked the wooden door and then the glass one until there appeared two figures standing in front of me.
“Mr Asher?” Two policemen clad in their blue uniforms were standing in front of me, One plump and the other muscular. The plump one had a donut in his hands which I found very weird that he was eating on duty while he asked me questions, in the meantime the other one took down notes.
“Yes that's me, officer” I replied, my amethyst eyes projected guilt which I am sure the two of them failed two catch on because it led to this next question.
“So, where's the culprit? You said you knew about his whereabouts.”
I pursed my lips and a chill ran down my entire body, because right now what I was about to do was gonna change my life forever.
“Come on son, hurry up. We don't have all day. Don't you see we have work to do.”Another question was thrown at me while he stuffed his face with the first bite. The crumbles of Death By Chocolate hit the ground slowly, with every single bite. I first eyed the now half eaten donut and then his face wondering what on Earth was I letting myself into.
My head hung low and my eyes closed on their own as I turned my hands into fists until my knuckles fell pale. “I am the one you are looking for officer. I am the culprit, the destroyer of lives.” The words just stumbled our of my mouth, slow and heavy. The sentences felt like lead in my throat, raising a searing pain which was enough to make a person choke. My eyes were now open and trained on my sports shoes as I wriggled my toes out of so many emotions running through my veins. Out of the corner of my eye I saw confusion lace through their features as they tried to make sense of my words. As soon as the information seeped in they shared a look with each other, the process of eating stopped for the time being. I brought my hands forward, my knuckles white with all the pressure with which I held them close. With the last bite of the Death By Chocolate the cool metal of the handcuffs embraced my wrists.

The muscular one named Liam pushed my body forward and lowered my head so that it didn't hit the roof of the police car. I let the cool and sticky leather relax me as I closed my eyes and went back to the incident which all started this, that one day. There was some indistinct chattering going on through the radio but by this time I had already reached to 'one year ago'.
It all started on that one unfortunate day, the 4th of December, Saturday when my life turned upside down.
11:00pm : Dad and his 15 year old boy were returning from the most wonderful evening of the week-the movie night. Dad mimicked a scene from the ridiculous movie we spent watching the past 2 hours. I pushed my head back laying it on the headrest of our grey Mercedes Benz as I broke into a fit of laughter on his mimicry. The cool air entered through the rolled down window and blew my rich honey brown hair back from my forehead.
This used to be our thing going for a ridiculous movie with dad and then having a challenge that who could pick the most ridiculous movie. That day I had won even though dad wasn't ready to admit it, now I wish maybe I would have accepted defeat. I wasn't like the other kids my age, I did not get drunk on weekends or smoke or do drugs, instead I used to spend time with my younger sister, have these wonderful nights with dad or help mom cook dinner. Everything was perfect.
I looked at Dad who was still talking about the movie and saw the sparkle with which his sterling gray eyes lit up. He scratched his fine cut jawline which was exactly like mine the only difference being a stubble growing on his face. I burst into another round of hysterics when he imitated the neigh of a horse. I knew it was kind of lame but the way he tapped his hands on the steering wheel like the hooves of the horses hitting the ground could not stop me from grinning wildly.
The road was empty and the warm yellow street lights acted as our very own spotlights falling from both sides of the roads while the trees on the sides swayed gently from the night breeze. Suddenly dad started providing more fuel to our Mercedes as it started picking up speed and in no time our dear little Mercedes Benz was no less than a Tesla Roadster. The wind pierced through the rolled down windows hitting my honey brown and dad's blond head with all the coolness it could muster.
What happened in the next few minutes was enough to make my life crumble like a weak brick wall after an earthquake. Before I knew it, dad was turning the steering wheel to the right towards the turn of our house and out of nowhere a truck appeared blinding us with its headlights. There was a loud crash and the shining grey object overturned taking us along with it. The seatbelt dug into my chest cutting my air supply. My head went and hit the windshield which was already broken from the crash and the glass rained over me making many scars on my skin. The impact made me feel dizzy, my body ached and I was not able to move my left arm. Slowly my eyes started closing and before I could check on dad’s condition, blackness had engulfed me.
Two days later I woke up in a hospital where I got to know that my father had died on the spot. The air bags had also failed to open and so our injuries were very deep. The truck driver had called the ambulance and that was the only reason I was alive. The death of my father was enough to put me in grief and devastation and this lead to my habit of drinking. I fell into bad company after that and started doing minor crimes. Fortunately I was never arrested even though my consciousness kept on stopping me from doing all of that stuff. For the sake of my family I should have stood tall as a pillar after the loss as I were the only male member left. But no, I let my guard down and in a place where women are considered weak I guess my mother was the strongest among the three of us.

Those crimes were nothing. Even if we were arrested for them we wouldn't have been charged very severely maybe a fine or two or a trip to the jail, but that's it I never thought that I would ever get a death sentence.
That night which destroyed my fate was the night I was out with my gang, the four of us getting wasted and partying till we were barely in our senses. Drinking was something I had developed a habit of over the year. Tell me, is there some harm to forget your worries for a while, to smile and laugh again. We had already been thrown out of the club in the past 2 hours and currently we were sitting on the dusty pavement by a lonely road facing the back of an old and empty garage. The garage had been abandoned by the owners and hardly anybody visited that place which resulted in it being our regular hangout.
The single yellow light from the building illuminated the whole place and on the pavement we relaxed on. We were waiting outside for the person inside the garage to leave so that we could have some time to ourselves. Tyler, Caleb and Riley were engrossed in some conversation, about which I wasn't even a bit interested. I stretched my legs out, lying on my back on the floor with one hand behind my head as I looked up towards the starry sky. The stars shone in the dead of the night as I took another sip from the beer bottle in my hand. My ripped jeans scraped along the floor as I tried to adjust myself in a comfortable position, my royal blue shirt riding up a bit showing a part of my skin from all the shifting and turning.
It was only after a few moments that I realized that the gossip around me had stopped. I craned my neck up to look at them only to find them staring at something in a distance. I focused my vision in the direction of their stare and saw that the lights of the garage had been switched off. There was a lean figure closing the gates of the motoring building and hurrying out of the main entrance. I heard a lot of rustling near me and when I checked the cause of the noise, the three other figures were already walking towards the lean one, with lust filled eyes. I was confused, the person hasn't left yet so why were they going towards the hangout usually we went there only after the person was far out of sight.
My eyes were again trained on that lean figure, and now I noticed the sharp features of the person, a girl to be precise. My eyes widened in horror when I realized their motives. It wasn't a good feeling, I gulped, my Adam's apple bobbing up and down. Quickly jumping to my feet I dusted my jeans before running towards them to see that they do not do something bad. Obviously I wasn't as drunk as they were, they were stumbling on their feet while I could still keep my balance.
They surrounded the tiny frame, towering over her while she moved backwards trying to get away from the three devils. She looked frantically at me, sending constant pleads through her eyes and with one look I knew her body was screaming for help. But I was frozen unable to move, unable to do anything. The girl’s back touched the black gate of the garage trapping her from any exit. Slowly I was able to move myself from the frozen state, ready to stop them.
“Are you guys in your senses” I went over to the trio to stop them.
“Move aside, we haven't done this in a long while and now I am desperate.” Came Caleb’s reply.
I was shocked with the words that left Caleb's mouth, “So you guys have done this before too?”
“yeah, we have done this two or three times. You have no idea how good it is.”
“What!!! Tyler please this is not like you.”
But he didn't listen to me instead he grabbed the girl’s hands while Caleb took hold of her feet so that she could not be free. She trashed about even tried to scream but a hand on her mouth silenced her. Tears broke free from her deep intense eyes as one by one Riley took of her clothes. It wasn't long before she stood there naked with just the wind trying its hardest to cover her with the invisible blanket but nothing could be done. Riley unzipped his trousers and forced himself on her. And what did I do, I just stood there and watched the horrifying scene unfold in front of my eyes. She must have felt a searing pain because the eyelids which had fluttered closed were now wide open showing the agony she was on. One by one the boys took their turn and the little hope that was left in the tiny body was also lost.
The next thing I remember is running away from the scene leaving the female alone to deal with those devils. What a coward I was not to fight those monsters when I could have saved somebody's dignity. What if it would have been my sister in her place, the mere thought of it shook me to my core. I feel that I am strong and powerful but actually I am just the same creature as they are. Although I was not part of that rape but I was not even the person who stopped it, I let it happen. I did not take her feelings into account.
The car stopped and I was back to the present ready to be hanged. I knew that the punishment won't be less. I had to give my statement and then only my fate would be decided, and I wasn't looking forward to it now facing the same girl who I let this happen.

Polyrhythm Time -- A Bard's Tail
Have you ever met someone who loves what they do so much that they'll skip sleep, food, love and safety to pursue it? What happens if that kind of person encounters a different dimension, yet holds on to their love of music, and specifically of rock drumming. When the world ended at the end of 2057, Kevin Snackenbridge slept through it. He'd been drumming all night. tl;dr-- System eats world -- Monsters and magic ---- LitRpg -- Practice, not levels and stats ---- MC Bard -- support class -- low power ---- MC chooses music over survival skills --tl;dr Kevin trips into the Internal Strength Dimension where Thaumaturgy is king. With the help of a talking plant and several vicious monkeys he learns that the rule is "Change or die." Kevin changes, but remains firmly a drummer/Bard in this high fantasy setting. This is Kevin's adventure, and that of the friends he meets. Kevin has the soul of a real musician. He loves music, specifically rhythm and drumming, and would give his left nut if it would help him drum better. He's a rock drummer, and his language is that of a rock drummer: slanged, duded, and frequently laced with profanity. He focuses on music, and makes decisions that even the author doesn't approve of. However, that means all his decisions are Kevin's decisions, not those of a system-optimizing power-gamer. There's points (All of Arc 2) where he wanders aimlessly. Goals seem foreign to him at points. What would you do if you were a musician, and the world fell apart and you no longer had an audience or band-mates. You'd be kinda lost. Kevin is. Arc 2 is a lot of Kevin not knowing what to do, going with the flow, and not being articulate enough to know that he doesn't know what to do. 1. Chapters start short near 500 words, and grow to 12-1500 by ch.100 2. Chapters daily
