Arohi came out of her room. Her hair still wet from her shower. She wanted to wish Rashi a happy birthday before anyone else. Rashi had been so good to her, and in the past few months she had become a little sister to her. As she rushed out of her room she almost collided with Arjun. He looked up as Arohi's wet hair slapped against his face. "Ow" he yelled. Arohi stopped long enough to shrug her shoulders and hurry away to Rashi's room. "Happy Birthday!" she yelled as Rashi opened her bedroom door yawning. "Arohi, you remembered" she said smiling. "You're the best." Arohi threw her arms around her and squeezed her tight. "Of course I remembered." "What kind of friend would I be if I had forgotten your birthday." "I have the most amazing gift for you." "You will love it." "Get ready and come down. I'm having your favorite dishes made for breakfast." Rashi squealed and ran back into her room.

Arjun had heard everything. DAMN it was Rashi's birthday today. He'd been so preoccupied with his anger towards Arohi that he'd forgotten Rashi's birthday altogether. Arohi walked by him swinging her hips. Ignoring him completely. If Arohi gave Rashi a gift at breakfast and he didn't, he was going to look like a complete ass. But where was he going to find a gift at this time of morning. He went back to his room to get ready and to curse Arohi for being so organized.

Arohi got ready, wearing a buttercup yellow sleeveless fitted cotton suit with white thread work around the the deep neck and scattered throughout. She wore a white sheer pajami with it and a yellow and white duppata hung around her neck. She had taken parts of her hair, braiding it from each side and then bringing it all together in a low ponytail in the back. . She wore yellow and white glass chooria on both arms, they jingled as she ran around putting a bouquet of pink roses into a vase for Rashi.

Arjun came down the stairs and stopped. Arohi hadn't seen him yet so he could have a good long look. She looked gorgeous.. She was rushing around making everything perfect for Rashi. Why was she working so hard when she had made it clear that there was no future for them, he thought bitterly. Arohi looked at Arjun as he walked towards her and looked away. He looked so handsome, wearing a pair of cargo khaki shorts and a pink Ralph Lauren polo. The collars up. "Just what do you think you're doing?" Arjun snapped. "What does it look like I'm doing?" Arohi snapped back. "It looks to me that you're trying a little too hard to impress Rashi. " "Why, I'm not quite sure." "Why are you working so hard at being friendly with my sister?"

Arohi was livid. "How dare you." she yelled,. "Rashi is my friend. I think of her as a little sister." "Birthdays are special and they should be done right!" "I want to do this for Rashi because I care about her." "The world doesn't revolve around you, and besides Rashi was my friend even before I fell in love with you!" Then Arohi stopped. Arjun stared back at her. "Yeah but will Rashi still be your friend now that you've fallen out of love with me?" With that he turned around and stalked to the family room. Arohi pulled out a chair and sat down. Every confrontation with Arjun was taking a toll. She didn't know how much of this she could take.

Rashi ran down the stairs with a big smile on her face. "This is all for me?" she giggled happily looking at the balloons and flowers around the breakfast table. "All for the birthday girl." Arohi said smiling. Arjun sauntered back into the dining room. "Happy Birthday little sis." he said, giving Rashi a big hug. "Thanks Bhai." They all took a seat around the table. Arjun tried to shove the balloon next to his chair out of his face. Was it necessary to have so many balloons he thought glaring at Arohi. "Yummy, all my favorites." Rashi said looking at the different dishes. "I told you, today is all about you." Arohi said taking a sip of her coffee. "Thanks...bhabhi" Rashi said cheerfully. Arohi and Arjun both choked on their drinks. "Bhabhi?" Arohi said looking at Rashi. "Yes bhabhi, I don't know why I didn't call you that before, but it just seems right." "I'm sure you and bhai will be getting married soon." Arohi heard Arjun drop his cutlery onto his plate with a big clang.

"Yeah, about that," Arjun began slowly. But Rashi interrupted. "I'm so happy that Arohi is going to be my bhabhi. I can't wait until your part of our family." "That'll be the best birthday present ever." Turning to Arjun, Rashi said "Bhai why don't you propose to Bhabhi?" "That would be such an awesome gift for me." "Yeah about that, he tried again and Arohi cut him off. "Rashi how can Arjun propose to me on your day?' "This day is about you. He can propose to me some other time." "Now here open your gift she said trying to distract her." "OOOH my gift." Rashi squealed. Arjun glared at Arohi. Why did she lie to Rashi? "Bhai if you're not proposing to Bhabhi as a gift to me, then where is my real gift.?" Arjun gulped. "Yeah about that," he began again. "Rashi this gift is from Arjun and I." "He chose it especially for you." Arjun stared at Arohi as Rashi opened her gift. Inside was a beautiful wooden hand crafted jewelery box. "This is so pretty" Rashi squealed again looking at Arjun. "I thought you would like it" he said to her. Arohi rolled her eyes. "Open the box.' Arohi said. Rashi opened the box and found a beautiful silver necklace with a diamond pendant hanging from it. "This is so lovely" she said with tears in her eyes. Arohi also got a little teary eyed. "You deserve it." she said, as Rashi got up and hugged her. "Thanks Bhai" as she hugged Arjun next. Arjun continued to stare at Arohi. Just when he thought he had her figured out she would do something that would throw him right off.

"So tonight is my birthday party and you're both coming." Arohi looked at Arjun and then back at Rashi. "Rashi I don't think I'm going to be able to make it. I have so much to do tonight." "You go and have a great time with your friends. " "No way" Rashi cut in. "I'm not going without you." "But Rashi." " No Bhabhi it's my birthday, and I want you to come. I won't celebrate with out you. " Arohi bit her bottom lip and sneaked a peak at Arjun. Why didn't he say something so she could get out of this. But nope he was busy shoveling food into his mouth. Giving Rashi a small smile and nodded. "YEAH!" "We are going to have a fabulous time. We're going for dinner to Indigo." "Have you been there yet?" she said looking at Arohi. Arohi and Arjun stared at eachother. Indigo had been where Arjun had taken her for their first date. One of the best nights of Arohi's life. "Um, yes I think I might have been there before." "Okay great. so be ready to go at 7:00 tonight." "After dinner we're heading for a club." With that Rashi jumped out of her chair, gathered her gifts and ran upstairs.

Arohi waited a minute and left for her room too. Arjun stared after her. He wasn't going to let her go so easily he thought. He finished eating his breakfast and thought about what just happened at the breakfast table. To anyone else it looked like a loving family celebrating a birthday, but in reality it was nothing of the sort and he didn't like Arohi showing Rashi a family that will never exist, because of her own stubbornness. Arohi would be gone soon enough he thought angrily and then who will be left to make the excuses and give explanations---HIM.

Arjun got up from his seat and walked up the stairs to Arohi's room. She looked up from putting her earrings on as she saw Arjun at her door. He shut it quietly behind him. You wouldn't think anything was out of the ordinary if you didn't see Arjun's eyes. His eyes were on fire. He stalked towards her, but Arohi held her ground. "Why are you here Arjun?" she asked. "Why are you lying to my sister?" Arjun asked in a deceptively calm voice rivaling the anger in his eyes. "I'm not lying to Rashi." "Don't lie to me Arohi!" he said grabbing her arms and pulling her towards him. "You're showing her a family that doesn't exist. A happy loving brother and sister in law." "We aren't that couple." "Arjun, will you listen to me?" "It's Rashi's birthday, we can't tell her today that we broke up." "She'll be heart broken. " "I was thinking of telling her myself in a day or two." "And as for the gift! I didn't lie" "When I bought it a month ago I had bought it from you and I." "So it wasn't a lie." "You won't tell my sister anything. I'll tell her what needs to be told..understood?" Arjun asked squeezing her wrist. "Ow" Arohi said her eyes filling with tears. Arjun looked down and saw blood on his hand and on Arohi wrist. He had broken two of her glass chooria and cut her.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry" he said hoarsely. "Let me go, you big oaf." Arohi cried. Holding her wrist with her other hand. She hated blood. "Here let me have a look at it. We need to clean it." "No, you've done enough." Arohi said squeezing her eyes shut. ",Arohi come on, I know you don't like blood let me just see it." "No, No, No" she said in tears. Arjun forcibly took her arms trying to be gentle. Now the tears had started and she couldn't seem to stop them. "Arohi please don't cry." Arjun said hoarsely. "Please don't cry." he said again pleadingly as he leaned down and kissed her eyes one by one and then her cheeks, one by one and then he looked down at her lips and reaching down, kissed her lips. It was a gentle feather like caress. Pulling away he looked at Arohi's wet eyes and full lips and he groaned and pulled her towards him. Placing his lips on hers he proceeded to kiss her thoroughly. The kiss became more and more passionate as Arohi kissed him back. Arohi heard herself moan against Arjun as she pulled him closer. Arjun tugged Aroh's duppata from around her neck and let it slide to the ground. Pulling his lips away from hers and kissing her neck. Arohi arched her neck and pulled Arjun's shirt up touching his bare abs. Arjun kissed Arohi again, this time making her open her mouth for him as he applied more pressure. The kiss was sizzling hot and as Arjun gently pushed Arohi onto the bed, Arohi came back to her senses. "What are we doing?" she said in hoarse voice. "Something we should have done a long time ago." Arjun said reaching for her again.

"Are you crazy?" she said pushing away his hand. "Rashi is a few doors down from us, she could come in anytime." "And we are not together. Remember, you hate me." Arjun who had been in a foggy passionate haze was finally coming out of it and realizing what he almost did and with whom. He ran his hand through his hair and waited for his heart rate to get back to normal. He looked at Arohi, her lips were swollen, there were marks on her neck from his stubble and he was pretty sure she would need something tomorrow to hide the bite he'd given her. What the hell had gotten into him. This is what happens when she's around. Looking at her wrist he saw the blood. Damn, the cut he thought.

Arjun looked at Arohi and walked out of her room. Arohi stared after him. Her body still on fire. Her breathing still erratic. Arjun walked back in carrying a first aid kit. He sat down next to Arohi on the bed and carefully cleaned her cut and then put a bandage on it. "Thanks," Arohi said looking into his eyes. "Don't worry about it."with one last glance he walked out of the room.

Arohi was dreading Rashi's birthday party. Spending a whole evening with Arjun was going to be difficult. She forced herself to get ready. Maybe she could make an excuse and leave early. She chose a short white chiffon one shouldered dress to wear. It fit snugly in all the right places. Mumbai heat was killing her, she thought as she lifted her hair and tied it in a low bun. She put diamond studs in her ears. She took extra time doing her eyes creating a smoky look. She stepped back and critiqued herself. I wonder what Arjun will think she thought to herself. And then she caught herself. What was wrong with her? She didn't care what he thought, and maybe if she repeated it enough times she would believe it, she thought to herself ruefully.

Arjun shook his head and smiled reading a text from Romit. He didn't know how many times this guy needed to be rejected by a girl before he learned how to talk to them. Glancing up he saw Arohi and Rashi walk in. Looking at Arohi he couldn't help but stare. How could somebody look innocent and seductive all at the same time. "We're late let's go." Rashi said glancing at her watch. They walked outside and Arohi went to open the back door of the car. "Bhabhi where are you going? Rashi said giving her an odd look." "Aren't you sitting up front with bhai?" Arohi slowly nodded and got into the passenger side next to Arjun. Arjun looked over at Arohi. She was staring straight ahead ignoring him. Well two can play that game, he thought angrily, putting the car into drive.

Arohi got out of the car and looked at the restaurant. Memories of their perfect first date came rushing back to her. They were so happy last time they'd been here. She sneaked a peak at Arjun to see if he was just as affected as she was. He had a bored expression on his face as he waited for Rashi to get out of the car. I guess I'm the only one who remembers that date she thought sadly. Arjun watched Arohi walk into the restaurant. Thinking back to their last visit here, he couldn't help but think about how happy they'd been. And then Arohi destroyed that happiness with her stubbornness.

Dinner was long and tedious. Rashi's friends, most of whom Arohi had met before, were all very friendly. But sitting across from Arjun pretending they were a couple was torture. To make matters worse Rashi kept introducing them as her brother and bhabhi. Arohi winced everytime she head her say it. Oh well, soon enough, poor Rashi would know they weren't together anymore. Arjun sat brooding, across from her, not even pretending to be interested in keeping up their little happy couple charade. She was the one that would give him fake smiles and touch his hand lovingly. He for his part kept ordering his drinks and getting more and more surly.

The icing on the cake was when one of Rashi's musician friends decided to pull out his guitar and sing a song, as a gift to her. So Rashi had everyone couple up to dance. Arjun sat staring at her and then finally got up and held out his hand for her to take. Arohi looked up at him and placed her hand in his.

Te Amo Movie; Dum Maro Dum.

Arohi and Arjun moved together slowly to the music. The song was beautiful and the words made Arohi look up into Arjun's face. He was staring down at her intently. His eyes looking into her very soul. She couldn't stop herself from reaching out a hand and caressing his face. Pain flashed in his eyes, and Arohi felt tears form in her eyes as he twirled her to the music. Then pulling Arohi closer Arjun and Arohi moved as one to the music. The song came to an end and Arjun and Arohi continued to stare at eachother until they heard cheering. They pulled away and Arohi heard Rashi's friend say what a beautiful couple they made. Arohi looked at Arjun as he downed his drink, not looking back at her.

Thankfully dinner ended soon after. "Bhai I'm going to go with my friends. We'll meet you at the club." " Rashi, you'll see your friends at the club why don't you just ride with us. " Arjun gave Arohi a disgusted look and stalked to the car. "Bhabhi, try to understand, you know that musician, the one you just heard. He is definitely interested in me, I want to go with him so we can talk." Arohi nodded miserably and walked slowly to the car, letting herself in.

"You couldn't have made that any more obvious." Arjun said sarcastically. "What?" Arohi asked not looking at him. "Well since Rashi thinks we're in love and you're going to he her BHABHI, shouldn't you act the part instead of behaving like spending time alone with the man you supposedly love is going to kill you." Arohi glared at him. "You're one to talk, what was wrong with you at the restaurant?" "If you scowled for a second longer it was going to become your permanent expression." "Looking at you only makes me scowl." "Will you shut up! I don't want to hear any more of your smart alec remarks." "Too bad for you, you're going to hear then." "Be prepared for the worst 5 weeks of your life." Arohi looked at him and then turned her attention towards the window All of sudden she just felt exhausted. How much longer could they fight before one of them had a break down.

They got to the club and the first thing Arjun did was head for the bar and order a drink. Arohi watched him and couldn't believe how far away, they suddenly were. Physically they might be a few feet away, but emotionally they were miles and miles apart. Arjun was so cold and distant towards her. Well what did you expect, a little voice in her head said. Even when he did come close to her physically, emotionally he turned away from her. This wasn't what she wanted. For the first time in almost a month she was actually being truthful. She just missed him so much. His laugh, his wonderful laugh that she never heard anymore. His smile that was never directed at her. His shoulder which she could always lean on for anything, his easy going nature, his ability to make her laugh even when she didn't want to. His kisses and the feel of his arms around her whenever she wanted. She missed her Arjun. The Arjun that was left now was either glaring or scowling at her but the worst was when he showed no emotion at all. His eyes staring at her as if he didn't even see her.
