《Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (Arjuhi Fiction)》Part 17

Arohi slipped the DVD into the DVD player and sat down cross legged on the sectional waiting for the movie to start. A full bowl of popcorn sat in her lap. It had been a long week at work and she was happy her friend Sophia had canceled their dinner plans. Arohi just wanted to sit and do nothing. Arjun was meeting some friends after work, so she knew he'd be home late.
Thinking about Arjun brought an instant smile to Arohi's face. A secret smile that she reserved only for thoughts of Arjun. It had been 6 weeks since she's moved in and they had started seeing eachother. A gloriously wonderful 6 weeks. Among other things, these weeks had been filled with romantic dates. She had been shocked to find out just how romantic Arjun was. There was a surprise catered dinner on the beach. A midnight picnic by candlelight. And one morning he even woke her up at 4:00 am and whisked her away for a long drive to a beautiful beach where they watched the most beautiful sunrise she's ever seen. It was just the two of them at the time of the morning as Arjun wrapped his arms around her from behind and they watched the sunrise together. She had thought to herself life couldn't be better then this. Even everyday activities like watching movies, shopping, lazy afternoons just hanging out at home or on the patio or even hanging out with friends were more fun having Arjun with her. Arjun's friends were great and she felt like she was a part of the group.
Ofcourse they still fought. But even fighting with Arjun was fun because with fighting came the making up, and Arjun was alittle too good at the making up she thought blushing. The hotel was progressing nicely and Arohi was busy working out the layout and interior design. She loved her work.
Arohi shook her head. Miss Arohi Ahluwalia get your head out of the clouds she said as she switched her attention back to the tv screen and started watching her movie.
Arjun walked into the house and was almost at the staircase when he stopped. Was that crying he heard?! He listened carefully. What the hell he thought as he walked towards the back of the house towards the family room. As he walked into the room he stopped. There sat Arohi sobbing.
He was by her side in seconds, his heart beating so fast he thought it was going to come out of this chest. "What's wrong Arohi?" he asked. "Are you hurt?' he asked in a panic as he checked her over himself. "No" Arohi answered with a sob. "Baby don't cry, whatever it is, it'll be okay." he said as he lifted her up and sat her in his lap wrapping his arms around her. "Did something happen with your friend Sophia?" "No," Arohi said sniffling as she laid her head down on his shoulder. Then he heard her say "why did Aman have to die?" "He loved Naina so much." Arjun wrinkled his forehead. He didn't remember Arohi ever mentioning an Aman. Arohi continued with another sob. "Even though Naina married Rohit, she could never love him like she loved Aman." "How could she ever get over her first true love?"
"Arohi who are these people, are they friends of yours?" "I've never heard you mention them before." Arohi lifted her head and looked at Arjun with teary eyes and said with a hiccup. "They aren't my friends." Seeing Arjun's confused look she pointed at the TV where the end of Kal ho na ho was playing.

Arjun looked at the TV and then back at Arohi with shock. "You're crying like this because of a movie?!" he shouted. Arohi glared back at him. "Don't shout Arjun. It's not just any movie it's Kal ho na ho" she snapped. Arjun shook his head. What was he going to do with his pagal Arohi. Arohi put her head back onto Arjun's shoulder and drew circles on his chest with her finger. Smiling a little. Arjun's reaction at seeing her cry was so sweet she thought happily.
Arjun clicked the TV off with the remote. "Are you feeling better now?" he asked softly. Arohi looked up at him with her beautiful eyes still wet from her tears and nodded. "Good. I'm sure Naina and Aman will be together in their next life." he said with a straight face. Arohi stared at him suspiciously. "Arjun, are you laughing at me?" she asked. "No, he said with a laugh. Not laughing at you, not at all," he answered with a chuckle. As Arjun let out another laugh, Arohi grabbed a pillow and hit him with it. Ajrun laughed harder as he tried to dodge the pillow. "I hate you Arjun Singhania." Arohi said pouting and trying to hit him again.
Arjun managed to get the pillow away from her and push her down until she was lying on the sectional and he was on top. Both were laughing hard by this time and out of breath. Arjun looked down at Arohi at her beautiful laughing face and right then he realized what he maybe knew all a long. He was in love with Arohi. Arohi looked into Arjun's eyes and stopped laughing. There was something in his eyes, something different. The way he was looking at her. She couldn't look away. As the two of them stared at eachother, Arjun moved Arohi's hair out her face and traced his finger down her face to her lips outlining her lips with his finger.
Arohi felt her stomach drop and instant warmth spread through her body. Arjun leaned down and kissed her. And the kiss was like no other they had shared. There was so much emotion in it from the second Arjun's lips touched Arohi's. Arjun poured everything he felt for her into that kiss. Feeling Arohi's heart beating so fast, her hands in his hair pulling him closer. He was kissing the woman he loved and he wanted her to feel that love. When Arjun finally did pull away he sat up and pulled Arohi up with him. Arohi put her arms around him and held him close.
Things had suddenly changed between the two of them. She could feel it. But she couldn't put in into words. The energy between them was different. She pushed the thought out of her mind and hugged Arjun tighter she didn't want to think about this anymore. Arjun smiled and pulled Arohi closer. Now wasn't the time to tell her. She wasn't ready, he could tell. But he had a feeling that Arohi felt something too. Something that was bigger than the both of them. She's realize it herself he thought to himself.
Arohi woke up late the next morning. Looking at the time, she leisurely stretched and got out of bed. Her and Arjun were going to an Art exhibit that evening. She wanted to go shopping to buy something new to wear to it. Rashi was coming with her. By now Rashi knew that Arjun and Arohi were seeing eachother and seemed quite happy about it. Arohi took a quick shower and put on a pair of khaki shorts and a turquoise tank top. She pulled her hair into a loose braid. Mumbai was getting unbearably hot now. As she descended the stairs she saw Arjun and Rashi were having brunch. "Good morning." she said as she sat down. "Morning" they both answered. "Rashi, where should we go shopping?" Arohi asked as she buttered a peice of toast for herself. There's a really great mall that has some fabulous boutiques. We'll go there and then we can go for lunch at leopolds.

Arjun listened to their happy chatter and rolled his eyes. What was it with girls and their shopping he thought to himself. "Arohi, what's that on your neck?" he heard Rashi ask. "It looks like a...bite." Arohi choked on her juice. A bite she repeated as she touched her neck and felt her face turning red. "Yeah it's on the right side." Arohi quickly covered her neck and sent Arjun a murderous glare. Arjun was trying not to laugh. "It's actually from my hot iron" Arohi said quickly. "I burnt myself." Rashi smirked at both Arohi and Arjun and said "Hot iron...yeah I'm sure that's what it is." Arohi suddenly stood up, "I forgot something in my room. I'll just go grab it. I'll meet you in a few minutes and then we can leave. " And then she ran out of the room as fast as she could.
She was going to kill Arjun she thought as she applied foundation to "the bite" he had given her last night. No shame what so ever. He hadn't looked the least bit embarrassed either. Not even infront of his own sister.
Arohi and Rashi spent the afternoon shopping and Arohi found a beautiful midnight blue raw silk knee length sheath dress which zipped in the back and fit her like it had been made with her in mind.
Arjun stood next to Arohi as they waited for the elevator that would take them up to the art exhibit. Arohi looked breath taking he thought as he slipped his arm around her waist. "You sure you don't want to skip the exhibit?" he asked for the third time. "Arjun! Please get your mind out of the gutter." Arohi admonished. "We're going and that's final" as she pulled Arjun into the elevator. "Fine" he said as he backed her in to a corner. Before she could react he was kissing her. Arjun pulled away and looked at Arohi's dazed expression, which matched his own. "1 hour he said and then we're leaving" as he grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the elevator.
They ended up staying for four hours. The artist was a friend of Arjun's and as more and more friends and acquaintances arrived the harder it became to leave. Infact, Arohi and Arjun were separated most of the evening as they talked and mingled with different groups of people. But every once in awhile Arohi would catch sight of Arjun and smile to herself.
But at one point during the evening, Arohi who was talking to the artist's parent's glanced over at Arjun and her heart skipped a beat. Arjun stood in a crowd of people, everyone talking around him. He held a drink in his hand and he was staring right at her. The intensity and fire in his eyes turned his eyes an even lighter brown then they already were. The same intensity making her weak in the knees. He was in a crowd of people but he might as well have been the only one there. Arohi couldn't make out any other person. They were all a blur around Arjun. He slowly smiled, that smooth sexy smile of his and raised his glass to her before taking a slow drink. Arohi quickly turned away suddenly feeling like she was burning up.
Arohi stood outside on the balcony looking out at the city, lost in her own thoughts when she felt a pair of arms wrap around her from behind. "Hi gorgeous" Arjun said softly as he reached down and kissed her neck. "Hi yourself' she said turning to face him and wrapping her arms around his neck. "Are having a good time?" he asked. "Yes, your friends work is amazing and everyone's been super friendly." "Hmm, I feel like I've barely seen you tonight." he whispered into her hair. "Me too," Arohi said snuggling close to him. They stayed that way awhile longer before Arjun asked, should we go. "Arohi nodded as he took her hand and led her back inside. Arohi grabbed her shawl as they said goodbye to everyone. Once inside the car they were silent. Arjun finally looked over at Arohi. "Everything okay?" he asked he looked at her intently. "Yes everything is fine." she answered back. He continued to stare at her until she looked away herself. Everything was fine she thought to herself. More than fine. Then why did she have this feeling in the pit of her stomach. This something wrong feeling.
Arjun looked over at Arohi again. She wasn't her normal self tonight he thought,. But she didn't want to push her into talking about it. She'd tell him what was bothering her when she was ready. He decided the best thing to do was help her snap out of it. 'You want to go for ice cream?" he asked tempting her with her favorite treat. Arohi looked back at him smiling. "Mint chocolate chip?" she asked. "Anything you want" he answered. Okay she said excitedly. "2 scoops and this time get your own. Last time you ended up eating most of mine. " "No, I'm not getting any." he answered back. "I'll just have a taste later." "Later?" she asked. "When later?" "Later when I kiss you senseless." he answered nonchalantly. |Arjun! Arohi said hitting him on the arm. "Hey, I'm driving." he laughed. They fell back into their easy banter. Thie was his Arohi he thought, as he listened to her chatter. His Arohi.
The next week flew as work on the hotel really got underway. Arohi found herself spending half of every day on site. With work keeping her extremely busy she'd had no time for working out but since she wasn't a gym going type of girl she decided to take up kathak again. She had been learning the particular dance form from the age of 3. This class was not for learning, it was purely for the enjoyment she got from dancing and being surrounded by other talented individuals who also loved kathak. And as a added bonus she got a great workout. The class was 3 times a week in the evenings.
Arjun was extremely busy with not only the hotel project, which he had pretty much given her the reins too. But he was also busy with other very lucrative projects that demanded more and more of his attention. A few evening he would get home after she's already gone to bed.
Friday morning she walked into her office early and threw her things on her desk and then went and knocked on Arjun's office door. "Come in." Arjun looked up and smiled when he saw her. He had missed her this week he thought as she came around the desk and settled herself onto his lap. Winding her arms around his neck. "Mr,. Singhania, I have a complaint." she said pouting. "A complaint?" he asked. "Yes, your company is monopolizing all of my boyfriend's time." "He has no time for me." she pouted sweetly. "Oh" Arjun said pulling her closer to him. "We'll have to rectify that right away." "Would you like your boyfriend to take you out for dinner tonight?" Arohi pretended to think about it. "Yes and dancing too." she added. "Okay done I'll talk to him, but what do I get in return?" he asked raising his eyebrows at her. "Um, how about a hand shake?" Arohi asked, giggling as she made a move to get up from his lap.
But Arjun was too quick for her. "Not so fast." he said as he pulled her back and then brought her face close to his. "Not so fast." and then he gave her one of his smokin hot kisses. The ones that always left her dazed and confused. As he pulled away Arjun said "forget dinner I think we should go straight to dessert." Arohi looked at him and burst out laughing. Hearing a knock at the door Arohi jumped out of Arjun's lap so fast she almost fell. Arohi, you're forgetting your own boundaries at work rule Arohi said shaking her head at herself. As she straitened herself Arjun hid his laugh behind a cough and told whomever was at the door to come in.
"Hi Arjun," an attractive young girl about Arohi's age said as she walked into the office. She carried a large tote with her. Arohi looked at her and then looked back at Arjun. Maybe one of his clents she decided excusing herself. "Arohi, wait this is Megha. We went to school together." She's an interior designer and I thought you two could work together on the interior design of the hotel. Arohi looked at Arjun with disbelief. "Hi Arohi, Arjun has told me a lot about you." Megha said holding out her hand. "That's funny because Arjun hasn't told me anything about you ." she said shaking Megha's outstretched hand. Arjun gave Arohi a confused look. "Megha has been in the industry for the last 5 years. She knows all the ins and outs and has done some great work for us in the past." "I think she could really help you. " "Hmm" Arohi said not trusting herself to speak. She had a lump forming in her throat and if she even looked at him she knew she'd burst out crying. How dare he go behind her back to hire someone to "help her". Did she ask for anyone's help?! The hotel was her baby and by hiring this Megha he had basically told her she was an incompetant idiot. "Nice to meet you." Megha she managed to get out. Why don't you two continue talking. "I've got some work to do.| With that she rushed out ignoring Arjun calling out her name.
|
She walked into her own office and let the tears roll down her face before she roughly wiped them off. She didn't cry over stupid guys she reminded herself. Except Arjun's lack of faith in her made him the one stupid guy that could make her cry.
Arjun was completely baffled by Arohi's reaction to Megha. He hired Megha so that she could help Arohi. He tried to explain that. Arohi had in turn looked at him like he had punched her in the stomach. "Megha, I'm so sorry about that." "Arohi's just got a lot on her mind with the project." "Arjun, don't worry about it. I understand completely. " "These kind of projects can be really stressful. Why don't I leave some information for you and Arohi to look through and we'll talk tomorrow." Arjun nodded. He needed to go find out what was wrong with Arohi.
When he knocked on Arohi's door he got no answer. So he just opened the door and walked in . She was furiously working on something at her desk. "Yes," she said without looking up. "What's wrong?" Arohi he asked. "Nothing's wrong." she answered still not looking up. "Don't lie to me Arohi." he said harshly. Arohi ignored him and kept doing what she was doing. "Arohi can you please look at me?" he asked calmly. Arohi finally looked up. "What do you want?" "Can't you see I'm busy?" she said angrily. " I want to know what's wrong." Arohi glared at him. "What's wrong is that I don't like when someone goes behind my back and makes decisions for me." Arjun looked at her confused and irritated. "Arohi how did I got behind your back? "You did by hiring that Megha with her 5 years of experience because dumb little Arohi with no experience isn't getting the job done the way you wanted."
Arjun looked at Arohi like she's grown a second head. "What?!" he exclaimed in disbelief. " I hired Megha because she knows the industry and will be able to get you what you need at the prices you need it at. I've seen your sketches and have heard your fantastic ideas." :You're amazing and why do you think I've pretty much handed the project over to you?" "Because I can see the fantastic job you're doing." "I just hired Megha because I think she can make your job easier. This project will always be your baby but you don't need to do everything yourself." "The kind of things you want to put in this hotel, they're not easily attainable items. Megha can help you there she has the contacts and know how." "It's not wrong to ask for help sometimes Arohi. "
Arohi stared at him, and then slowly she said 'you think my ideas are fantastic?" "Hell yes" he snapped. "The sketches and plans you've made for the hotel guarantees to make it one of the most sought out hotels in Mumbai." "I've already started with the marketing strategy and have spoken to my contacts in New York." "We're going to make this hotel internationally known." "Our hotel is going to be amazing because my Arohi is going to make it amazing." Arohi bit her lip to stop from crying but the tears still came sliding down her face. "Babe, don't cry Arjun said as he came around her desk and pulled her into his arms. "I'm sorry." Arohi whispered. "I don't know what got into me. I've just been on edge lately." "It's okay" Arjun said in to her hair. "You can make it up to me." Arohi pulled back a little and looked up at him. "How?" she asked suspiciously. Then he leaned down and whispered into her ear exactly how she could make it up to him. Arohi's eyes widened and her face turned bright red as she pushed him away and hit him on the chest. "Arjun, you're just Shameless, Shameless, Shameless." she said. Arjun laughed as he pulled her back into his arms and wrapped his arms around her. Arohi smiled into his chest and thought naughitly and shameless is just the way I like you Arjun.
