going by quickly. Christmas and the New Year had come and gone, and it was now Flo's final night with her friends before her return to Hogwarts.
Although she was dying to tell someone, she kept her friendship- or, alliance, with Regulus, a secret. He had begged her to tell no one of their plans... if the wrong person heard, Regulus would be personally killed by You Know Who.
Flo had returned to Remus and Pete's apartment for the last night. She sat on their small couch, sipping away at her hot chocolate with her feet propped up on Sirius' lap.
"How're you and Remus?" Flo asks, resting her head against the couch.
Sirius smiles, a blush creeping onto his cheeks.
"We're all right. Anyone more special than myself happen to find their way into your life?" Sirius questions back.
For a split second, Regulus' face pops into Flo's mind. She pushes his face aside, deciding that that was from all the firewhiskey she had drunk earlier that day.
"Nope, no one will ever replace you as the number one boy in my heart." Flo smiles, taking another sip of her hot chocolate.
Sirius stays quiet for a few moments, before continuing the conversation.
"Have you seen much of Regulus lately?" He asks quietly, not looking at Flo as he asks.
Flo grins.
"I've seen him enough to know that he is doing just fine," Flo assures him, resting her hand on his shoulder and squeezing it assuringly. "How about you lot?"
Sirius looks at her in confusion. Flo rolls her eyes.
"Don't think I haven't noticed the new scars, scratches and bruises on you all."
Sirius sighs.
"We've been fighting... but I think you knew that already, and I have a feeling the second you graduate you're gonna be fighting right along side us."
"Indeed I am," Flo smiles. "This is our fight to win, you know. A few years from now the war will be over, and we'll get to live without the fear from You Know Who and his followers."
"Yeah... I just hope we'll all stick around to see that day come."

Awakening
A potent tale of self-discovery. Centuries ago, the prophetic Golden Age ended in war, and history spiraled into darkness... Now, only scholars retain the last portent of the mythic city A'lara, concealed in a distant glade for the advent of the dragon mage. At the edge of the Known World, the slave Larin escapes her new lord before she meets his dark masters. Deep in the mountains, the legendary elf Kingard awaits his call to battle. When young Darek flees imperial mages tasked to exterminate shape-shifters, he launches them all on a voyage to redeem their unsought destiny. United by fate and guided by prophesy, their growing band of fugitives journey for A'lara to fight the ancient evil infiltrating the capital. But looming over the gears of fate, their enemies follow the same prophesies. With the unknown close upon them, Kingard and his allies face a mortal quest to restore their infected empire. Praise for Awakening: If you love Anne McCaffrey, J.R.R. Tolkien and Tad Williams, then Awakening is a novel you will surely want to pick up. D.N.Frost is a consummate world-builder with a knack for creating characters that are complex and three-dimensional. Frost writes with graceful prose that is descriptive and well-edited. The plot is fast-paced and entertaining. What really sets this novel apart is the cartography, which is a spectacular accomplishment. Incredible world-building! - M.L. Spencer, author of The Rhenwars Saga ★★★★★ This novel was published in 2014, and it includes 19 antique watercolor maps! Check them out: Maps of Awakening: an atlas directory

Demon Hunters
Far in the future, the last two viable cities in the western hemisphere – Technoburbia and New Baravia – struggle for control over a vast and largely desolate land. Officially they are at war. In practice, the war has been a stalemate for a generation, the disputed frontier between the two city-states never moving. In the city of New Baravia itself, a vast circular concrete wall keeps its inhabitants in, and its refugees out. For its citizens, life is monotonous and unequal, with enormous wealth in the hands of nobles, criminal gangs, and entertainment bosses. It is the last of these that control the hit entertainment show, “Demon Hunters”. A chance, perhaps, for the ordinary man or woman to rise up, and change their fate... This LitRPG novella is based around a futuristic battle-royale situation, partly set in VR, and partly in a post-apocalyptic city. The story features combat and action, some strong language, and lots of great characters that will stick with you! [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
