《Burn Archer》One- The Sun Called Moon

Know that place between dreaming and awake? That's where I was when I began hearing things.
"What do we tell her when she wakes up?" a young voice questioned.
"Oh, we'll just say that we performed an extremely dangerous process called astatine on her with no idea what the deadly side effects could be," a girl's voice explained. "No, you idiot! We tell her nothing!"
"Shut it, you two. Look at the girl," the third voice stated. His voice was one that could make every head in the room turn, a silky and rich tone. As if it controlled the world.
Look at the girl? They were probably watching me die.
Most people would think about the afterlife moments before their death or contemplate whether they were heading to hell or heaven.
Me on the other hand? Three words. Chunky Munky Milkshake. The delicious taste of the milk flowing into my mouth-
"Guys, I think she's a human, she keeps repeating that word- milkshake."
Suddenly, a gush of air filed inside my ear as someone brought their mouth close to it.
"My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard."
A whisper in my ear made me jerk awake to see a frowning boy leaning against my bed frame. I turned my head slightly to the right only to see another grown boy with pale blue skin staring at me from inches away.
I shrieked, stumbling out of the bed. Two women, wearing nurse gowns stared back at me with bewildered expressions.
"Juliette, go tell the doctor that she's woken up!" the older woman said.
The younger girl gasped while gawking at me and sprinted out of the room, knocking against a bed on the way.
"Stay away from me!" I screamed, pulling myself back aggressively until I felt the cool brick wall against my back.

"I understand you may be getting feelings of confusion and fright-"
"Just get back," I gritted my teeth.
I lunged forward, grabbing a springe from the tray beside the nurse and warned, "If you take another step forward, I swear I will hurt you."
The mood of the hospital wing quickly shifted as the boys swiftly had their guards up as they approached me.
"We aren't going to harm you," the boy said, his blue skin shining brighter than a smurf.
"Could you give me that in writing? That Astatine won't harm me?"
He cursed under his breath and began speaking again, "Be thankful that you aren't glowing anymore."
The younger boy, he was perfection in all the right hues. I stopped for a moment like anyone would when they saw his face for the first time. On either side of his straight nose were two blazing hazel eyes, flecks of silver in each. His face was framed by dark thick chocolate curls.
"Hey, listen," he said soothingly, as he took a step towards me.
"Don't come any closer."
Suddenly the girl from earlier ran in with a piece of paper cruising in her hand. "It's her! That's Burn Archer!"
I turned to face her. "How the hell do you know that?"
"You're wanted. Posters with your face on it are everywhere," she finished.
The boy glanced back at me and his features softened. "Your spaceship crashed on our planet. We put you through the astatine process as you had limited time left. And as for where you are- the City of Apex."
I lowered my springe slightly. "City of Apex? I'm safe here?"
"Yeah, for now. As long as your spaceship doesn't have a tracking device," the blue boy muttered.

"That's Brandon," the handsome boy said, gesturing to the blue boy and nodded at a girl with a similar blue skin tone. "And that's Emily."
I nodded my head at them, placing the springe cautiously by my side. "I'm Burn. But she already told you that."
The girl let out a squeak before hiding behind the older woman.
"Yeah, sorry about her, Burn."
It seemed too perfect the way my name rolled off of his tongue. "What race are you guys?"
"You really humans have no idea, do you?" replied Emily bluntly. "Exy. From the planet of Exes."
"I see where my ex was from now," I snorted, chuckling to myself. "You don't get it? Whatever."
I glanced around the infirmary. Its' high ceilings were covered with dazzling windows that let in rays of sunlight. Except it wasn't sunlight. Moonlight.
I wanted to see more. I had to.
My legs took off in a run, pushing past the tall boy on the way and knocking Brandon on the bed on the way. I heard my name being called out yet I kept running.
I'd seen this planet before. In my dreams. Many times. I even remember drawing it out when I was in the 6th grade. I vividly remembered dad snatching it from me and storing it away somewhere.
The drawing was set in the daytime. Yet it was dark in the picture. A dark sky with the moon acting as the sun with the rays shining on every rooftop. Every building in this picture shot up to the sky with people using superpowers.
But I drew a boy in the centre of a drawing. It was a boy with the most perfect hues. The first boy that was frowning when I'd opened my eyes today.
As I ran through the corridors, nurses with blue skin glanced at me, panic washed over their faces. I ignored the various kinds of hospital wings they had, each suited for their patients.
As I pushed myself through the sliding doors, the moonlight snatched my face. It was as if I'd finally accomplished my dream of reaching the stars.
Cars raced everywhere. But metres higher than me. They were zooming across buildings with too many windows and creatures of all sorts roamed the streets next to me.
A dream is only one until you see it happen.
I snapped my head to my right and saw the boy from earlier. I raised an eyebrow, frowning at him at how he communicated to me.
One of my abilities is telepathy. Try talking back to me.
I knew this handsome boy. His name was at the back of my head like a childhood memory stored deep inside me.
I tried squinting my eyes to talk to him through inside my head but there was no use. I shrugged as he 'said', Takes practice.
"What did you say your name was again?" I asked out loud.
I haven't told you yet.
"Well, what is it?"
"It's Carter."
A pause. Then came his voice again.
But you already knew that, didn't you?
