《Burn Archer》Fifteen- Didn't Look Back

I'm an orphan now. Both of my parents are dead.

Both of my parents are dead.

I tried to let it sink in but it only gave me panic attacks as Raven dragged me down another stairway. The past few minutes had consisted of him telling me about a secret hideout where I would be safe from the Oagles and his mother.

"Raven, I don't want to hide," I said slowly.

He turned around and stared at me. Those were the first words I'd said in a while. "You're not hiding. You're just delaying your return to save all of earth."

His smile brought warmth to my body and seemed like the only pure thing in the life I was stuck in.

"But I need to save it now," I whined. "They don't have much time left-"

He took both my hands in his, staring down at me like I was a child and said, "Earth can't just be saved in a day, Archer. It doesn't work like that."

We began the descent down the staircase again. I was expecting a rusty basement at the bottom.

It was small but beautiful. A massive monitoring desk at the front with food and water supply fridge towards the back.

The excitement began running around my body. "This room looks exactly like a spaceship!"

I pressed the button to open the door and ran inside. It looked exactly like my apartment back Adalaide!

"That's because it is," came Raven's voice.

I turned around and door that I'd come through had slide back shut again. With Raven outside.

"What's going on? What do you mean-" I began asking, soon to be cut off.

"You're not safe here. Especially with what you can do," Raven said through the glass.

I took long strides towards the door. "Open this now!" I roared. "My friends might still be inside and my parents' dead bodies are in there."

"I can't."

"That is not your decision to make."

"I'm the one with the control here so I think it is."

"Raven, try to understand-" I started.

"I'll take care of all of your friends, including the princess bunny, and get them out of this planet. I promise."

My eyes softened as I stared into his golden specs. We were inches apart and the only thing between us was the glass door. I wish it wasn't there.

I put my hand upon the glass as a tear rolled down my cheek. He wasn't going to let me out. I wasn't going to see him again.

He smiled sadly and aligned his hand with mine, only to be separated by the glass.

"Be the strong girl you are, okay?"

I nodded. "But where would I go?"

"Destiny has a way to pull you to the right place."

His messy blonde hair swayed slightly, reminding me of the first day that I'd met him in that barn where I was trying to kill him.

Suddenly he leant his forehead onto the glass. I heard a beep from the other side of the glass as Raven fiddled with the remote. The door on the other side opened wide, enough for the spaceship to fit through.

Not yet. No, I need more time with him.

The spaceship moved slightly and in came a voice booming.

Hello, I am Raven, and I will be your personal guide through the cosmos. Please take your seat.

I laughed. A laugh that didn't reach my cheeks. Raven grinned at my reaction. He'd personalised to his voice.

I forcefully tore my hand away from the glass and took a seat in front of the monitor. Don't look back at him. Don't look back at him.

The spaceship began rolling outwards. Don't look back at him. I wanted to thank him.

The spaceship thrust forward into the sky. I tried visualising his face but had no luck there. His blond hair and fierce sunny eyes.

Instead, I looked forward to the sky. The place my destiny was pulling me to. Suddenly Raven's voice boomed in.

Next destination, Pearl Archer. Too soon? Sorry.
