《Burn Archer》Five- A Fiesty Game

"Burn, swear to me that you'll never do it.

Because if you do, I promise you that it'll come back to haunt you.

Never love one but show affection to another."

"I swear, mummy."

Guilt chewed and swallowed me as I pulled back from the kiss and rested my head on his.

Sebastian's image faded as my eyes locked with Titan's golden ones. Unlike with Sebastian's, I didn't see the entire universe in them but a black pupil which stared back at me.

I don't love Sebastian. I don't love Sebastian. I don't love-

"I haven't kissed someone in a long time," he said breathlessly, breaking out in a friendly smile.

I simply nodded, afraid that my voice would break and my eyes would give in to the pressure building in them.

"Say something, Archer," he said.

When I didn't say anything, he slowly said, "Do you regret it?"

I hadn't done anything wrong... had I? I didn't like Sebastian that way and it was definitely not odd for a girl to kiss a boy- a Maya boy to be exact-like we just did.

"I don't think so," was all I could say.

"Do you want to see something?" Titan said after none of us spoke for a bit.

I nodded, hopping off the platform to escape from the awkward position. He took my hand and entwined our fingers, leading me up a dark staircase.

It unveiled a small terrace with a concrete floor and an amazing view of- no stars... none at all.

"Where are all the stars?" I asked turning to face him, not feeling a tinge of wind.

Titan seemed relieved to have heard me say something but tensed up when he realised what the question was.

"The stars were removed because I wasn't allowed any stars since my mother thought it gives false hope of dreams. Here- I want to show you something."

He led to the edge of the building. I glanced down and saw little houses and street lights at least a hundred metres down.

"B-bu-but how is that possible? When I entered your house, it was a little building- two floors high!"

"When I was younger, I was afraid of heights so my mother invented the illusion of the building being this tall when in reality we're probably only two metres high," he explained proudly. "She used it to help me get over the fear."

"That's incredible," I whispered, peering down once more.

"The only way which you can recognise this illusion is if the corners are slightly bent in. I noticed the trick over the past years."

I slowly lowered myself on the edge as Titan had done, our feet then dangling down. The wind slammed on our bodies and I suddenly felt shivers crawling down my body.

"I have to find my friends first thing tomorrow morning," I whispered.

His mouth twitched. "You know... you could live here- with me."

"I'm being hunted down, remember? I'm an Apex."

His facial expressions changed immediately as if it were in pain or anger. "Are you okay?"

"Y-yea-yeah I'm fine- great actually," he murmured, gritting his teeth.

"Let's go back downstairs..." he said raising off the edge.

I pulled Titan down and said, "Let's talk for a bit."

"I don't think that's the best idea..." he said strangely.

"Let's- for one night- be ordinary teenagers," I said longingly, almost begging him to sit back down.

He thought hard but I smiled as the frown on his face vanished and was replaced with a smirk. "You're right."

And those words started off one of the greatest nights I've ever had which went something along the lines of-

"Let's play a game," I suggested.

"But not the kind that you have in mind," I added seeing the smirk that widened on Titan's face.

He frowned but gestured me to go on so I continued, "A game to get to know each other. 20 questions? We both get to ask each other twenty questions and we have to answer honestly and the questions can be personal."

"Okay you start," he said, bumping his shoulder on mine jokingly.

"What do you work as?" I asked.

Titan was definitely caught off guard- he clearly wasn't expecting a question as simple as that. He hesitated, thinking hard before he answered, "A newspaper deliverer."

"Why would you work as that?!" I exclaimed, completely dumbfounded.

"Well, it's a simple job. Doesn't attract too much attention and won't get us into trouble. And that's two of your questions gone."

I groaned, digesting the information. "Your go."

"Was that your first kiss?"

I frowned at the context of the question. "No."

He obviously was expecting another answer. "Then who was your first?" he blurted out.

"Edmund. My ex-best friend back on Earth. Now we're both at two. Favorite and worst childhood memory."

He smiled, probably recalling back."My best memory is the last moments on Zeig because that was the last time I saw my family. Worst is when I entered this planet."

"Being an apex is genetic. So my question to you is which one of your parents is most likely to be an apex and why," he added quickly.

My breathing instantly increased at the mere thought of one of my parents an apex. They were too... ordinary. But if it was certain that one of them was an apex... it was bound to be my mother. Simply because she was the less ordinary in the two.

"My mother," I replied. "Because she's less of a coward than my father and I don't think I've ever seen her cry."

Titan raised his eyebrows and smirked a little.

"I guess we're both at four questions-"

Suddenly a noise made from high black stilettos erupted from behind us. A slim lady with a pale complexion and a velvet navy dress stuck on her body approached us.

"Hello," she whispered beautifully as we scrambled to our feet.

"Mother," he bowed awkwardly.

I would be lying if I'd said she wasn't exactly as I imagined. Strict, beautiful and independent.

"I'm Jocyln," she said staring down at me because I was at least a foot shorter than her.

"And I'm-"

"I know who you are, Burn Archer," she said sternly. "They have posters of you everywhere with your name stamped on it."

"But this is new, isn't it? Because you're not a Maya or an everyday girl."

"What do you mean-"

"You don't know?" She turned to face Titan. "She's the fifth girl you brought home this week. Your lowest record in a week, am I right?"

My mouth had gone dry. Titan had used me.

Worst of all, he had me captured in his house. He had caught the apex.
