《Burn Archer》Two- Titan

My body felt weightless as the branch and I churned in midair as we fell downwards. My legs snapped off the branch and floated in the wind but my hands held on tight. I shut my eyes as I felt myself plunge to my death.
The thorns on the branch pricked my face as it slammed against the water. It caused a big splash and my face buried into the branch even more. My hands slipped from the branch and my body floated away like a lifeless fish. My head ached from the pressure as I got dragged deeper into the river. I kicked with all my strength to the surface of the water.
This isn't real. It can't be. This isn't even close to my first time facing death.
Suddenly I felt the water push me upwards as if it was unnatural and it was forcing itself to help me.
My face sprung out of the water and I spat out a mouthful of water. My body swayed along with the current until my hands found the strength to reach out to a branch and pull myself up. I laid on the grass gasping for air and my head throbbed.
I saw the young oagle approach me silently and covered her mouth as she stared down at my lifeless body. I must have looked terrible since there were scars over my face because of the thorns.
"Get away from me, disgusting monster! I swear if you come an inch closer, I will rip your heart out!" I screamed as my bottom scraped backwards.
Her eyes widened even more as her large mouth opened, "It's you who I should be afraid of."
I felt my eyebrows crease. "Why would you be afraid of me?" I said slowly as my lips quivered. My body was soaking wet and my hair was damp against my skin.
Her nostrils flared as she replied, "You really don't know- do you?"
I hesitated for a moment if I should tell her the truth or if I should pretend to know what she's talking about so that I could use it as an advantage. I tried standing up and she backed away immediately as she got into a guard position.

"Of course I know. And you should be frightened!" I gestured at her throat and pain scattered through my body.
Even if I did fight her, she would end up killing me since she knew exactly where I was wounded. My eyes searched behind her for escape and I realised that I could outrun her. The forest mostly looked dense so she wouldn't be able to get far.
"Don't you dare come any closer to me. I will take you to the Alliance and they're going to reward me heavily."
"Who is the Alliance?" I asked.
"They're the significant government?" she said it like I was supposed to already know the obvious answer.
"I'm not going anywhere with you," I snapped as I took a step forward. "Especially, not to your stupid government!"
I pushed past her and I felt my ankle cracking. My heart began pumping faster as my feet sped up. I was pushing aside all the tree branches from my face. Some of them bounced back and struck me in the face but regardless, I kept running.
"Stop running!" I heard her screaming behind me. "You won't be able to go far, the next city is a few kilometres away!"
My feet ached and I knew that I couldn't run any further. I would injure my legs even more. My breathing was uneven and my nose felt running as I pressed my back against a tree to hide.
I heard footsteps for a few moments but it stopped. She hadn't run past me which meant that she was still lurking in the trees, just meters away.
"I know that you can hear me, little girl!" Her voice echoed in the forest and I pressed my damp body against the bark even harder. "You're a weapon, you're more dangerous than you can ever imagine."
What was she talking about? I had never hurt a single innocent life before or even betrayed a soul.
"Wherever you run, they will find you. I will report you to the Alliance and they'll do everything in their power to hunt you down"
My throat felt dry and as if someone was holding a knife to it. Silence fell and I couldn't hear a noise. My mouth twitched as if it sensed something to be wrong. I took my chance and I ran.

Soon it came to my notice that the forest that I was in was absolutely stunning. The trees were slim and tall, the bark was a bright yellow and the branches were red. The ground was covered with a rich green carpet of grass, pearl powder sprinkled on it.
I walked on for a few minutes until I noticed that the trees were a lot closer to each other. It was thick and almost impossible to go through so I pushed past the branches with my cast.
I gasped when I reached the other end. It was as if the part of the planet that I was on was cut off from the rest of it.
There seemed to be a sort of protective bubble around the forest which kept the pollution and hustle out. On the other side of the bubble, the air was dusty and heavily polluted. The ground was covered in dark brown sand and sky was clouded.
The city was crowded with tall building and creatures of all sorts. It seemed similar to Zeig in many ways but I sensed a feeling of depression in the air.
It was like the world that movies on Earth showed of the destroyed future. It was a perfect representation of a dystopian world falling apart because of corruption and pollution.
I walked into the rusty city. Sebastian and my other friends might be somewhere in this city. They might be trying to find me but it'd be impossible unless I somehow signal them.
There were big advertisement balloons flying everywhere in the city and large spaceships with beams of light falling down on the city as if they were searching for something. Someone. Me.
The oagle must have spread the news about me. Was it because I was human? Are humans' dangerous weapons?
I felt uncomfortable being surrounded by oagles but it was a little comforting to know that there were other creatures around us. Why were there creatures from other planets on this horrible planet? Were they being help prisoners? The city was bustling with creatures rushing everywhere.
I saw a spaceship hovering over the place I stood. Everyone stood still and there was silence. The beam of light scanned through the crowd and I knew it was time to run.
I saw every head turn as I sped past them and as I entered the markets, the patrols followed me. The orange guards were following me and I tipped the people's foods of baskets over as I ran past them.
"I'm really sorry!" I kept shouting every time my instincts made me tip over a stall so that it slows them down.
As I passed a creature with two round metal heads, it held a type of fruit in one hand and a knife in the other, I grabbed the knife as I ran past.
I realized that I'd lost the guards that were following me but I noticed some approaching me from the front.
I clutched the knife even tighter in my hand and whispered to myself, "Oh god, forgive me for this."
I ran towards the guards in full speed and as I slid past each one, I either sliced of a body part or stabbed them. They groaned and yelled after me. I turned my head around to look at them clutching themselves on the ground.
"Oh my," I said as I glanced my hands which were covered in blood. I had to hide until nightfall so that I could find something that I could signal my friends with.
A small damaged apartment stood there in the corner of the street. It looked abandoned so I ran over and slammed the door shut behind me.
Suddenly I felt the presence of someone lurking behind me. My hand swung backwards and I instantly felt someone clutch my hand.
I looked down at my injured arm and it was just inches away from the person's body. The human hands were wrapped around my wrist. Human.
My eyes slowly moved up to his neck, then his lips and then his eyes. His golden eyes.
"I'm Titan, I mean you no harm, I promise," he said sternly as his lips curled into a smile.

Queer Tales From A Street Nominally Associated With Your Reality
The street is not from your world, and yet it's attached, clinging like a shadowy limpet to the edge of your London, your city skyline stabbing into it from above. Or well that's what we tell ourselves, no one who lives here really knows. We are after all just regular folk displaced from our original realities. Just a bunch of folks with queer tales from a street nominally associated with your reality. What to expect: - A series of interlinked short stories gradually unpacking the lives, complications and mysteries associated with those who live in the street - A weird pseudo-British setting where physics works inconsistently, and houses move position regularly - Stories filled with LGBTQ+ characters, and in particular ones on the trans/nonbinary spectrum - Potentially iffy grammar, I'm new to publishing my work online, so whilst I am checking things before posting it’s a near certainty that some things will slip through - A schedule of one chapter every two weeks.
