《Burn Archer》Two- Runaway

The channels changed their emotions as dad flickered through them and suddenly stopped at the screen which retained the word news on it. The news lady had sweat dripping down her forehead, and her expressions were screaming in fright.
The news lady seemed... unstable? It was strange for people on the screens to show fear on national television, wasn't it?
"I am reporting to you live from Amsterdam where you can see, behind me, everything that it was constructed off has been destroyed. This isn't the case in just Amsterdam, but also in countries all over the world, like Canada, India, Russia and more. The cause for this is one word. Aliens."
"Oh, my goodness," my mum cried as her hands reached for her mouth. My heart danced a few beats and as a eccentric tingle stretched down my neck, I witnessed Earth violently getting murdered into shreds.
"Shhh," my dad uttered with his finger slide to his upper lip.
"Here we have footage of the spaceships attacking our planet."
A video lashed out into the screen.
A set of skyscrapers punched into the sky, and were surrounded by people rushing to go to their workplaces. Everything was calm, and the screams of the bustling streets could be heard. Suddenly, a loud thunderous uproar howled over the noise, and a big dark rock hovered above the tall buildings. The people beneath it shot their eyes up with curiosity and fear filled it. Suddenly, a red beam lashed out of the spaceship and sliced all the buildings in half . Each building danced for a few moments but ended up grabbing people as it finally plunged into the ground.
A scream escaped my mother's mouth and her hands searched for her eyes. I watched my dad's hard-as-nails eyes filled with tears and anger. My face whirled into the direction of the screen again as the lady reappeared.
''Hundreds of spaceships have been sighted across the world and each one is attack- "
A small man walked into the lit screen and his lips moved quickly a few inches away from the lady's ear. The lady's expression responded with a silent scream from her eyes and instantly tried calming down. She'd obviously heard some unbearable news that she never wanted to hear.
"I have just been updated that the spaceships are moving at an incredible speed and all the weapons that earth could have used have somehow been deactivated and don't seem to function anymore," she said as her voice shook. Tears stretched out along her cheek and her legs scurried off from the camera.
Suddenly, the screen died.
"I can't watch any of this anymore-"
A thunderous crash interrupted my dad. I ran outside onto the balcony to see where the noise had screamed from.
We lived in Adelaide, in the highest level of our skyscraper in a penthouse, and there was a beautiful park in front of our house.
The park was in ruins. The trees had been murdered and the buildings around it were slowly collapsing but, in between of the colossal damage, my eyes growled at the sight of the big rock that hid behind some overgrown bushes.

Something, which I couldn't quite put my finger on, about that rock attracted me. Why did I have an unsettling urge that I had to be over there?
Suddenly my body had the urge to jump over the balcony to reach that spaceship, but I didn't. My parents followed me into the spacious balcony and their eyes pierced through the damaged image in front of them.
Everything about the park screamed danger at me yet I still wanted to go. What was wrong with me?
"We have to get out of here and go somewhere safe," my mum cried as her head desperately whirled towards my father.
I observed my plain mother who expressions screamed fright and insecurity. She could have been an attractive lady if she cared about her face, but she believed that paying attention to your beauty portrayed negative signs like self-obsession and an unnecessary desire to show someone how beautiful you were.
"We have to hide in Burn's closet. It's the safest place because it's built with the strongest material our planet has today," I heard my dad say.
I couldn't believe it. Cowards. That's what my parents sounded like.
As my parents discussed it, their voices became cold background mummers to me.
I could hear someone's heart beating very fast. It was mine. It was wrong to escape and hide while thousands died. I could just feel it.
"I have to go." The words escaped my mouth bravely but I could hear the shred of confusion in my voice.
My parent's eyes scrutinised me with confused expressions and shook my body worriedly. "Honey, what do you mean?"
My veins trembled as I heard the cries of help echoing in my ears."I don't know!"
"Oh no." I saw the words escape my mother's mouth. It was time to go.
"I just have to go!" I screamed.
My heel scraped against the sole of my shoe as I spun around and ran.
I raced out of the door and my finger jammed the button of the elevator. I could feel every movement of the warm sweat against my skin and I could hear the echoes of my name being screamed by parents. I pushed myself into the elevator into the metal elevator and in a few dreadful seconds, the doors opened. As I ran, my feet were in sync with my hands and my heart danced in my rib cage.
Where was I going to go? I didn't know but there was this feeling in me to just run. It was immoral to hide while people were dying.
The grand entrance of the park invited me in and I continued running. My feet cried for help with every step, and my head spun while my angry breaths took control of my body.
Oh no. I was heading for the giant rock. The spaceship. My heart threatened to pound out of my body if I didn't lower the pace that I was running at.

As my body shifted closer to the spaceship, I could see that it was made up of small chunks of rocks squished together to make a massive stone.
A sigh barely escaped my mouth. What was I supposed to do next?
All of a sudden, the camouflaged entrance revealed itself and opened its mouth, allowing hundreds of smaller versions of the it to lash out to be released into Adelaide.
They were the same spaceships I had seen in the footage on the television. My fingers were curled into a fist, nails digging into my palm.
They were going to destroy the only place I called home. My skin was drenched of sweat and my eyes were throbbing in my skin.
As the last of spaceships came out, the entrance began to shut its mouth. It was as if a child had finished vomiting.
I stared back at Adelaide, fear would now be as ubiquitous as sunlight on these cracked streets. I forced my eyes to peel away from the sight. The door was half closed by now. Should I stay or not-
Before I finished my thought, my legs forced me inside the colossal rock and seconds later, I heard a loud clicking noise behind me. I turned back to see that the door was closed, locking me inside the murderous weapon.
I hadn't thought this through. Though my heart may often beat fast and my fingers tingle from an excess of adrenaline, I was a warrior at heart.
I did something not many people would have been able to. It might have been a selfish act but what good would I be to the world if I was a corpse in my closet?
A shudder ran through me when it hit me. Trapped. I was trapped. I was confined within the walls of the ship that only wanted to destroy my planet and my people.
I shook my head violently. I pounded down on it again and again, but my thoughts did not dislodge themselves. There would probably be a time that my thoughts became tormentors, a torture only escaped by sleep.
Were my parents in trouble? Had I done the wrong thing?
But I didn't reply to that voice in my head. Then it stopped. Just like any bully, they go when ignored.
This corridor is really long, I thought as I stared at the smoothly crafted marble walls stretch into the distance.
The ceiling gazed at me from at least a hundred feet. I eyed the bizarre masterpiece above me peculiarly and noticed diamond pipes running into the darkness across the ceiling.
I ran towards the end of the marble corridor, feet kissing the ground.
At the end of the corridor, there were two more mouths that led into complete darkness. I should do a coin flip, I thought as my finger tips reached into my pocket to grab out the golden coin. Someone once told me that when the coin is on the highest point in the air, you already know what you want to choose.
If its tails then I go right, and if its heads then left.
I pushed my fingers upwards to let the coin dance in the air and it eventually punched its way back into my palm. Without letting my eyes glance at it, I wrapped my fingers around it and returned it to my pocket.
Left. I wanted to go left.
This corridor was asleep which meant, no light for me. My hands stretched out in front of me but after a few minutes, as I took my next step, my hands yelled in panic when they touched something- something slimy which was covered in a form of liquid.
Panic lunged into me. I snapped my hands back instantly as a small scream escaped my lips. At the same moment, the animal in front of me, groaned in fright and anger. At instinct, my legs got into motion and sped through the screams of darkness. I'm a good runner, I assured myself. My feet were made to travel at speed and be as light as the paws of a lioness. Breathing steady, heart strong - I was born to run.
There's a light at the end of the hallway! I forced my exhausted legs to step into a room with thousands of shelves, pipes, and workstations with ten figures surrounding it. The figures were wearing had grey armour strapped to their orange muscles and wore skull masks.
Everything about the skull people screamed danger.
My body shifted to hide behind an abandoned workstation and my head peeked out to get a clearer view.
"Ow!" I screamed viciously as my body twirled letting my bottom kiss the ground because of slipping on the marble floor. Oh, damn me and my clumsy feet.
It caught the attention of one of the creatures and it began moving towards me. My head was dancing, making my vision growl because of the blurriness. I pushed myself upwards but it was little use since my hands were still frightened from the fall.
Panic consumed every cell in her body, swelling them with terror as the animal closed in. With every second I practically felt the rise of my blood pressure, but I knew that this was the least of her worries.
A growl was released from him but before I knew it, my hand swung around and snatched out a diamond pipe from the workstation. I clutched onto the pipe with every ounce of power in my body and smacked the alien across the face. It screamed and fell to the floor, gripping onto itself in pain.
Mum and dad would have been disappointed in me for hurting another being but I it was for self defence.
"I'm so sorry for doing that-"
Before I finished my sentence, my heartbeats pounded loudly, echoing in my ears, alongside fading pleas for help.
The feeling in my body drained away until finally all was black.
