《The Touch of Infection》Chapter 86:Cry your eyes out

Carisa had her fists clench looking out the window to see everyone doing their work. She'd been locked up in this tent for the past hours and it was finally about the morning. She slapped her face slightly to make herself up, she'd barely slept and was in a bad mood all night.

While she kinda felt like telling Amite she'd forgive her, a small part of her just wanted to hold on to the information. Wanting to process it longer, to try and put herself in their place and see if they even deserved forgiveness. Carisa pulled her sleeve up to see her hand turning a shade of black and blue.

The door opening up as Vasin walked in solemnly, "Let's have a chat."

Carisa sat on the bed looking at him, "About what?"

"What happened with Amite? And is that why you want to leave?" he asked grabbing a chair and sitting in front of her.

Carisa sighed, "She kept something from me, something I deserved to know. And I want to leave because I don't feel comfortable with any of you."

"What about Bavyn?"

"It's different, he's just a kid. He shouldn't be a part of this." Carisa told him. Looking down, "Just don't bring him up."

"Alright." Vasin agreed, "What did she hide... Heard it has something to do with a town."

"The town I used to live in. I know I saw either her or Ezhno in the distance that night, just barely. I'd gone with them to the town, way before we went to HQ... You know back then I thought we went there out of pure coincidence... But now I know it's because they knew the area. I went to my old home!" Carisa gritted her teeth, "I saw my old bedroom, I saw my parent's room, my mom's dress... All the scratches on the walls... Everything was just like I remember. The town hadn't been ransacked to my surprise and it's because of them. They killed everyone."

Vasin laughed slightly, "Who do you think told them to do that Carisa? I did, Fallyn did, and we also ordered all the rest to kill and destroy another town. You know Marnik even destroyed a city, a two Alaois team, setting out to destroy a city. So many guns and weapons are easily disabled." he grew closer to her, "And all in less than a week the world fell apart. The city's couldn't contact anyone and no one could contact them. A flimsy communication kept you all from helping each other. Not that you did once you know the threat."

Carisa was red with rage, "How dare you even laugh?!"

"Because it's true!" he yelled, "You should blame me, blame Fallyn... Fallyn wanted to use you as a weapon even. Something to persuade our rivals and enemies. A common ally." he stood up walking right up to her, "Can't say she's wrong once hearing her reasoning, but I know you wouldn't cooperate. Because unlike Fallyn I know you're angry, I know if you could you'd return the pain we've caused tenfold."

Carisa was backed up against the bed as Vasin loomed over her, "You don't get how I feel."

He grinned, "Aw, cry your eyes out then." Vasin stood straight giving Carisa space, "Whether you want to accept it or not in reality we are all to blame. Some of us wanted your death others your survival, so we're all to blame because we settled with killing you all. We were alright with eliminating your whole species... And that's alright, it's perfectly fine." he flung his hands in the air, "I should congratulate you, you changed our minds, you made us want to see why you're so special. I couldn't even kill you if I wanted to, " he snickered, "but if I do, I know I'd be run to the ground. Because to us, you become something special, a one of a kind."

Carisa was quiet and Vasin walked around the tent, "I'm sure you've been told that only some humans will come with us. Those that want to come will come, those that don't will stay. And when all that's decided, we'll set the world up in flames."

Carisa looked horrified, "You can't just do that, innocent people are at stake."

"They had a choice. We gave them one, they decided. They're lucky we don't only take you and leave." he huffed, "Everyone can't be saved, everyone doesn't want to be saved. Now Carisa... Just think about how Marnik would feel if you stayed, he'd have my head." he kneeled, "what's the point in staying, you have so much to live for out there. So I can't just let you die, I need to be a good example, I can't be like Fallyn." Vasin walked to the door, stopping, "You should probably stay here a while and calm your nerves..."

Vasin took a deep breath once he was out and spotted Amite and Ezhno looking in his direction. Amite looked dishearted while Ezhno seemed angry. Last nigh she'd tried again and again to get permission and see Carisa, every time being told no.

She began walking over as Vasin raised his hand, "Let her be Amite, she knows everything now, its her choice whether to let it go or not."

"But i can explain, I can make it better." She began.

"No." He said sternly and walked past her, leaving another Alaois at the door of the tent as guard.

Ezhno walked up to Amite, wrapping his hands around her, "Come on, let's get your mind off this." He tells her beginning to pull her in another direction. Slowly getting her to leave the area and move on.
