With one more step, they were out of the zone, and not nearly as many zombies were around. But now being out of that zone Marnik let out a breath of comfort, "You alright Carisa?"

"I'm fine." She said and stopped to look at the area, a few houses spread around she suspected a town might be near, "Going to eat?"

"Not unless you will." Marnik stared at one of the houses, having a hand on the gun, "Maybe it's too soon to stop yet. Let's get away from the houses."

She raised a brow, "What did you see?"

"Nothing yet... just a hunch." He wrapped a hand around her waist and dragged her along, "Don't you miss the days we didn't understand a word about each other... and everything was just guessing."

She rolled her eyes, "Yes so fun to be dragged around from tree to tree. Unknowingly because you wanted to eat me... so romantic." She fell silent, "If you'd met me before... would you have also let me live?"

He looked at her and asked, "If you'd met me before... would you have been just as curious?"

"Yes... now answer me." She said hastily, and grabbed his hand to keep him there, "Don't make a question just tell me."

Marnik took a deep breath, "I don't know... honestly..." he saw her concentrated solely on him, "I, I would have probably... killed you."

"Kill me..." she let go of his hand and clenched them into fists, "As much as it would probably anger me... sometimes it's better to lie." She looked down at the floor, in a glare not wanting to meet his gaze.

"It feels wrong to lie to you... do you have any idea how terrible I felt for keeping the whole attack on the city a secret! I FELT HORRIBLE." He realized how loud he was speaking and calmed down, "I was scared someone else would tell you... and you'd never want to look at me again... just like you do now."

She stepped forward and huffed, looking him in the eyes, "Well how would you feel if you'd met me in the middle of chaos, and spend time with me. To the point you trust me, and believe whatever I say... then I say I was the cause for all the chaos you lived in..." that was a that went through her head but not one word of it came out. Carisa just stared at him endlessly until finally opening her mouth, "Well I'm looking at you now."

Marnik sighed, "I can see that." He leaned down to her level, "And I'm satisfied if that's all you'll ever give me."

Carisa's fists were clenched tight, "Let's just keep going if we're not stopping to eat."

They walked for a good few more hours, Marnik opened a door to one of the houses. Walking in before Carisa to look around. The one floor home having mattresses torn and dried blood on walls. Plants were even starting to grow from the inside. It was all dark and gloomy and to their luck not a zombie in sight.

Carisa sat in the bedroom while Marnik scanned through the window, "I'll block the door just in case." He said, setting up the sofa against the door in the living room before blocking the one to the room with some chairs.

"No dogs or monkeys... do you think some other animal might be infected?" Carisa asked, pulling a bottle out of the backpack.

"Maybe the phrogs... I don't know that many animals really, just a few that seemed to get close to humans maybe a couple of wild beasts."

Carisa snickered, "You mean frogs..."

"It's the same thing." He said, seeing Carisa shake her head.

"What other animals do you know?" She asked, wondering what else he might say wrong.

Marnik shook his head, "I'll keep it to myself."

"Let me guess cows are moo moos and cats meow..." falling silent with a smirk on her face when he glared at her, "well... what do you call lizards?"

He pushed her to the bed, "Go to sleep." Standing by the window he watched her by the corner of his eyes. Watching her grab the bottle she had taken out and looked at it intently.

"Marnik are you still afraid of these?" She looked up at him watching him turn towards her.

"I was never afraid." He spat almost, "Now put it away if you don't want it."

"Oh come on, I'm not blind, I've seen you glaring at them. They're just an object, so what's the reason for your dislike of them."

Marnik walked over and took it from her hands, "I don't have any fear or dislike of them. Their just objects like you said."

She pouted, and turned away, "Be honest with me."

Marnik bit the inside of his mouth, "Alright... so maybe I'm a tiny bit disturbed by them. After all, they bring nothing but a problem."

"Give me one example."

He instantly pointed out, "The time it fell and attracted the horde... the time you sprayed me with water while I was sleeping... their terrible."

"I apologize for spraying you with water." Carisa defended, "and the horde... that was just an accident." She couldn't help the smile forming, "Give me another example."

Marnik was crushing the bottle in his hand, "Well... I... go to sleep."
