When Aspyn walked into the living room, she was immediately met with a frowning Jaslene. "Uh oh," she laughed. "What did I do this time?" She wracked her brain of anything she might have done, but couldn't seem to come up with anything.

"Aspyn, honey," Jaslene started. Aspyn knew it would be serious when she brought out the 'honey'. She looked at her friend with a wary expression. "What did we say about dating white men?"

Aspyn bursted into a pit of laughter, looking at her friend with a mildly confused look. "Wha—what?" She sputtered out. "First of all, what's wrong with white men? Second of all, no one said anything about dating them."

She gave her a deadpanned look. "Do I need to go into detail? When has a straight, white male, ever made either of us hap—"

To save you an explanation, Aspyn's past record of boyfriend's wasn't the best— though, it could be worse. Let's just say the bar is pretty low at the moment.

"Jas!" She scolded and cut her off. Her friend only shrugged in response.

"To be fair, George seems like an okay person. But I'm only saying this because he's friends with Karl, and I trust Karl's ability to choose friends." Jas said as she sprawled on the couch with a huff. She met Karl months ago, when he and Aspyn met. She thought his crush on her was adorable, and saw no threat in his presence. Her gut feeling had proven to be right still to this day, as Karl continued to be a great friend to Aspyn.

Aspyn walked over and took a seat on the opposite couch.

"I don't really know him, to be honest. I just know he's close with Alex and Karl." Aspyn confessed, pulling her knees to her chest. "But he seems nice. I watched his videos last night and he seems funny— his laugh is like, contagious. And he's always smiling!" She smiled while she voiced her thoughts.

Jas gave her roommate a suspicious look and hummed under her breath as if she was deep in thought. "Interesting. Are you on your way to Karl's?" She changed the subject, but the ideas continued to linger in her head.

Aspyn nodded and turned to grab her bag, which was sat on the coffee table. "Text me if you need anything." She called out to remind her.

She glanced back at her from the doorway as she tied her black high-top converse, and watched as she nodded. Within minutes, Aspyn was walking out of our apartment building, and made the short trip to Karl's apartment a few streets away.

On the trip, she stopped by her and Karl's favourite coffee shop and bought two coffees— one iced espresso for Karl, and one iced coffee with almond milk for me — and two chocolate biscuits. With the brown paper bag in one hand and the paper tray holding the drinks in the other, she pushed the bar to open the main entrance door with her forearm. She trudged up the stairs after buzzing in, being greeted with Karl's typical smiley face as he stood in front of apartment #301.

"Aspyn!" As the smiley girl walked towards him, she opened her arms a bit wider, knowing she would soon be met with a hug. And of course, she was correct.

"Hi, Karl." She smiled into the hug. Once they let go of each other, Karl reached for the biscuits giddily.

"You got me breakfast?" He grinned. His blue, borderline grey, eyes flickered between the paper bag and the coffees. "I love you, ugh. Why can't we just get married right now?" He pouted, leaning his head on the shorter girl's shoulder.

Aspyn laughed, pushing him off lightly as they walked into his apartment. "You're so dramatic."

"I'm serious— holy shit, whoever gets you as a wife will be one lucky person." He groaned as he ripped open the brown bag.
