《Belle》Chapter 7 (REVISED)

I've been very agitated lately. Especially when James goes on and on about Michelle.

Like, we get it! You're in love. Lucky you.

My grandma was in town this week, so she's been taking care of me and my severe nausea. She's the only family I have that actually cares about me and Abby. I can tell she's getting worried since I've been sick all week. She kept insisting to take me to the doctors, but I kept reassuring her I'm fine.

Today is Friday, which means I have to help James get ready for his date.

"Does this look good?" James aseds, adjusting his tie in the mirror. "Tie or no tie?" He turned around from his full length mirror and looked at me frantically.

"You sound like a girl. Stop over thinking it, Jay." I said calmly, laying down on his bed to ease the nausea I felt. "But lose the tie, you look so uptight." He gave me an evil glare before taking off the tie and letting it drop to the floor. His button up blue shirt was a little big on him, but it looked nice with his black khakis.

"Now how do I look?" He dusted off his shirt nervously, trying to make everything look perfect.

"You look like a dad ready to go to work." He gave me another evil glare. "This," I started, gesturing my hands to the mess of his outfit. "is not you. Just be yourself."

"But I want to actually look nice. I can't wear a t-shirt on a date."

"The hell you can't. Where are you taking her?" I asked, sitting up on my bed.

"The movies." I had to hold back a facepalm. I swear, this kid is missing a couple brain cells.

"Yeah, you're way over dressed." I stood up from his bed and opened the closet door, looking through the many shirts he has. I pulled out a graphic t-shirt and a pair of black jeans. "These will do." I threw them at his face, and he caught them just in time. I watched as he took off his shirt, his toned abs exposed to my vision.

"Are you just going to stand there and watch me change?" James's chuckle pulled me out of my gaze. My cheeks flushed.

"You wish." He chuckled and I turned around so he could continue to change. When he finished, I brushed his shaggy black hair to the side, making it cover his left eye. "Perfect."

A grin appeared on his lips as he looked at me through the mirror. I couldn't help but smile back, butterflies erupting in my stomach. I pushed down the feeling, putting the brush on his dresser before looking over my hard work.

"Wait, one more thing." I say as I spot something in his closet. I grab his grey beanie and put it on his head, adjusting it to make it look just right. "There."

"Do you think she'll like it?" He asked nervously, turning around to face me as he spoke.

"She'd be crazy if she didn't." I instinctively bit my lip.

I managed to look into his dark brown eyes that shone as they stared back at me. It was almost as if everything around us just disappeared as we stared at each other. A small smile played on his lips and I glanced at them for a moment. The ringing of the door bell snaped us both back from our trance.

"That must be her." James finally spoke up, but quieter than before. I swallow the lump in my throat and put on a fake smile.

"What are you waiting for? Go answer the door." As if just realizing she was waiting, he jumps into action, running down the stairs. Once I heard the front door close, I grabbed my backpack and walked downstairs to find James' mom, Pam, sitting in the living room. She looked up from her book and smiled at me.

"Oh Bella, why didn't you tell me you were here?" She stood up and pulled me into a tight hug.

"I was helping James get ready for his date." I forced a smile as she released me from her mama bear hug,

"That was nice of you. Do you want anything to eat? I'll make you anything you want." She pushed open the kitchen door and I followed behind her. My stomach began to rumble at the thought of having her infamous chicken pot pie.

"If you could make your chicken pot pie, my stomach would thank you." She chuckled as I took a seat at the island, watching as she got everythings she needed from the cabinets.

"Coming right up" I smiled slightly, but it quickly fades away.

I wonder if she'll still love me the same when she finds out she's going to be a grandmother.

The front door slammed closed and I turned my head in the direction of the noise. James's dad, Victor, walked through the kitchen door, wearing a grey suit and holding a brown briefcase.

"Honey, I'm home!" He calls out with his thick French accent.

Victor moved to the United States when he was twenty for college and that's when he met Pam.

Victor noticed me in the kitchen and smiled, his green eyes lighting up. "Bonjour, mademoiselle Bella."

"Bonjour, Monsieur Thomas." James and Victor have been trying to teach me French for the last couple months, and I think I'm pretty good at it.

"Good job. What brings you here? Where is James?" He asked, placing his briefcase on the dining table and taking a seat next to me at the island.

"James is on a date, and Bella was helping him get ready. Now I'm making some chicken pot pie." Pam cut in before I could answer.

Victor raises his eyebrows. "James is on a date?" I nodded.

Pam placed a glass of water for me on the island and I took a sip. "I just always thought his first date would be with you." I almost spit out the water as Victor spoke.

"Victor! Don't embarrass her." Pam scolded him and he shrugged.

"Me? Why me?" I managed to ask after swallowing the water that almost killed me.

"No reason." Victor said blankly. "Put extra on my plate, I'm starving!" Victor changed the subject, which I was thankful for.
