《MAOS ; No More Secrets》The Writing On The Wall
Advertisement
As I sit at Coulson's desk and watch him carve The Obelisk symbols onto the wall opposite me as some old music plays on the record player on the desk that Coulson put on, Skye opens the door and walks in before closing the door after herself. She then waits a moment before turning the music off and Coulson snaps the blade on his knife accidentally.
"Damn it." Coulson mutters before he turns to us "How long were you standing there?" He asks Skye.
"Long enough. May gave us specific instructions: You go on a date with the crazy wall, we have to chaperone." Skye explains.
"I was already awake in the lab with Fitz, we didn't want to wake you." I say to her.
"Do I look like I've been sleeping?" Skye asks me.
"What's keeping you up?" Coulson asks her, but I already know the answer as he places the broken knife on the table near him.
"It's all connected, everything. Ward has information about our father, who just happens to have the alien buzzkill device, which is somehow connected to the writing, that is related to the G.H. serum that is in our blood... Like we're pieces to a puzzle." Skye explains.
"Except we don't know what the puzzle is or how the pieces even fit." Coulson comments as he looks at The Obelisk carvings.
"It's a hacker's worst nightmare, everlasting gobstopper of firewalls." Skye states.
"It wants us to know. I can feel it." Coulson tells us.
"Then it should tell us, because I have been trying to match the writing to constellation maps, navigational charts, genome diagrams. And if it's a map, it's a map to nowhere." Skye explains.
"I need you to stick with it. The writing's coming more and more frequently. Used to be two, three times a month. Then once a week. Now it's every day, every night. I can't turn it off." Coulson admits to us.
"How do you function? When do you sleep?" I ask him confused.
"That's why we need answers." Coulson tells us.
"And what if we don't find them?" I ask him, but he doesn't answer.
"Anything else?" Coulson asks us, but neither of his answers and he picks up a new knife from the table.
"When does May get back?" Skye asks him as May, Triplett, Hunter and Morse are on a mission to bring Ward back in as he escaped from Senator Ward's soldiers on the transfer.
"Not until we find Ward." I state as Coulson goes back to carving The Obelisk symbols.
After Coulson finished carving The Obelisk symbols, Skye came into my office and found a dead victim with The Obelisk symbols carved on her body, Janice Robbins. So right now we have just walked into Coulson's office as he faces a map of the world with points lit up on his wall computer, and he turns to us when we walk in.
"We found Ward." Coulson tells us, and although it is excellent news, we don't express it "What?" He asks us confused.
"One of my sources, this guy micro, he's kind of a crime-scene junkie and he came across something. The writing, but not exactly how we wanted to see it." Skye hands Coulson an electronic tablet she was holding and it shows a picture of Robbins, dead with The Obelisk symbols carvel into her bare back and forehead.
"When were these taken?" Coulson asks us.
"Last night. Whoever did this is still out there." I tell him as I tap to change the screen on the electronic tablet, and it shows Robbins' driving license.

"This is the victim?" Coulson asks me.
"Janice Robbins. Lived in upstate New York." I state.
"She's a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent." Coulson tells us, and we look at him confused.
"No, she's an art teacher from Iowa. I have her full bio." Skye corrects him.
"I'm not wrong. I've seen her. We should check it out." Coulson tells us.
After Coulson, myself and Skye break into Robbins' apartment that is under investigation, I close the door after myself as we all hold a torch each in our right hands.
"You know we're breaking about 14 laws right now." I say to Coulson.
"One of the perks of being outlaws." Coulson states as we begin to search through the house.
"This had to happen on our shift? You couldn't wait till May got back?" Skye asks Coulson.
"May's got her hands full with Ward. And we're the only ones who know what we're looking for." Coulson tells us.
"What are we looking for?" Skye asks.
"Answers." I state as I shine my torch over a blood stain on the ground where Robbins' was murdered.
"You're right. This place just screams S.H.I.E.L.D. agent." Skye says as she looks at a large Buda statue, and Coulson and myself walk into what we think is a study, but it's a lot more than that as there is multiple paintings of The Obelisk symbols, and all are signed with the words 'The Magical Place' "You two don't have a single thing in common, unless you have some Enya albums you've been hiding." She says.
"No. Nothing in common at all." Coulson says sarcastically as Skye walks into the room.
"I take that back." Skye says.
After taking photographs of Robbin's sketches Coulson, myself and Skye are in Coulson's Office as he sits on the floor looking at the photographs and he also has the painting from Miami next to them as I sit at one of the chairs at Coulson's desk, and Skye sits on Coulson's desk as she looks up more info on Robbins on her laptop.
"There's a lot of overlap. We were definitely working on the same design, but she has some pieces I was missing." Coulson explains.
"How does the carving we found in Miami fit into this?" I ask him confused.
"Whoever did it was on our wavelength. There's just a few pieces missing. It's almost there." Coulson explains to us as he stands up and Skye turns her laptop towards us to show us Robbins' real identity.
"You were right. She's a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. Agent Rebecca Stevens, level 6. Stationed at the Triskelion." Skye explains.
"That's probably where I saw her." Coulson states.
"Not recently, you didn't. According to this, she died five years ago from cancer. How is that possible?" Skye asks us confused.
"We won't know until we perform an autopsy." I tell her.
"Don't you need a body for that?" Skye asks me confused.
After Fitz and Mack returned to base with Stevens' body Coulson, myself, Fitz, Skye, and Mack are in the lab with Simmons as she sets up ready to prepare the autopsy, and Fitz and Mack lift Stevens' body bag up onto the lab table.
"How'd you two manage to acquire a body?" Skye asks Fitz and Mack confused.
"'Corpsey diem'. Seize the dead." Fitz smiles.
"Like I told my man here, you want something in life, you got to grab it and walk out like you own it." Mack explains as Simmons walks over.

"Is that all it takes? Really? Because I always thought if you wanted something in life, you had to work hard and earn it. Give me some room, please." Simmons explains, and Fitz and Mack step out of her way. Simmons then unzips the top of the body bag to reveal Stevens' face with The Obelisk symbols carved into her forehead "Does she have any family?" She asks us as Skye inhales deeply at the sight.
"No one. No relatives, no kids." I answer.
"She didn't deserve this." Coulson states.
"Is anything coming back to you?" I ask Coulson.
"She was level 6. It should all be in my head. But it's not." Coulson explains.
"We're going to need blood and tissue samples, full CBC, and multi-element analysis. Would anyone like to leave before we get started?" Simmons asks us, and Fitz, Skye and Mack raise their hands.
"We'll stay out of your way." Coulson tells Simmons.
"I'll let you know when I finish." Simmons tells us before we all leave her so she can do the autopsy.
After Simmons finished the autopsy, she called Coulson, myself and Skye back into the lab to show us what she found as Stevens is laying on her front in the body bag so we can see The Obelisk symbols on her back.
"The cuts were all quite deep, but the cause of death was cardiac arrest. She died from shock due to the pain, not from the wounds. Very common in this type of ritualistic murder." Simmons explains
"Ritualistic?" Skye asks her confused.
"It has all the characteristics. The cuts are very precise, and the killer continued to carve on her long after she died, as if there were some need to complete the work. My hunch is that it wasn't the first time, either. It's also not the first time we've seen these carvings. They're the same ones Garrett was making, correct?" Simmons asks us as one of the scientists walk over with an electronic tablet.
"Dr. Simmons, here are the reports you requested." The scientist hands the electronic tablet over to Simmons.
"Thank you." Simmons thanks the scientist before she walks away, and Simmons turns back to us "It's the analysis from the subjects." She tells us.
"Subjects, plural?" I ask her confused.
"We found blood and tissue samples from a secondary source under her nails. She put up a fight. Oh, no. Just as I suspected. She had GH-325 in her blood." Simmons says as she reads the electronic tablet in her right hand.
"A Tahiti patient." Coulson states.
"Whoever killed her also had GH-325 in their blood." Simmons says, and Simmons and Coulson look at both me and Skye.
"Don't look at me. I didn't do it." I tell them.
"Me either." Skye adds.
"No, of course, but the three of you had either GH-325 injections or some kind of DNA connection to it already. Hypergraphia was one of the side effects they tried to treat with memory replacement. Garrett suffered from it. Apparently, so does our killer, and they both turned into dangerous psychopaths. Have any of you been experiencing a compulsion to write or carve?" Simmons asks us.
"We're fine. But somewhere out there is a Tahiti patient who may be targeting all the others. We need to find him." Coulson tells us before he begins to leave the lab, so Simmons puts the electronic tablet down before we all follow him.
"The patient files were all destroyed. How would anyone be able to locate them?" Simmons asks him.
"I don't know." Coulson states.
"How many Tahiti patients were there?" Skye asks him.
"I don't know." Coulson repeats.
"Do you think the killer will come after the three of you?" Simmons asks us.
"I don't know." Coulson repeats.
"If you don't know anything, then how are we gonna find them?" I ask him confused as Coulson stops walking when we hit a wall with a pipe next to it and he lifts some of the pipe up to reveal a keypad before entering a code, and the wall opens up to reveal The Theta Brain-Wave Frequency Machine.
"You're gonna have to torture it out of me." Coulson tells us.
After Simmons cleared the lab and set up The Theta Brain-Wave Frequency Machine, Coulson is sitting on the machine ready as Simmons hooks Coulson up to heart monitors and other machines as myself, Skye, Fitz and Mack stand by.
"Is all this really necessary?" Coulson asks Simmons.
"If you're going to insist on doing this, I'm going to be monitoring you very closely. It took me and Fitz six weeks to figure out how to operate this, and quite honestly, I never thought we'd have to use it." Simmons explains.
"We should have destroyed it. In the history of bad ideas, this is light-years ahead of everything." I explain to Coulson.
"No, trying to bring dead agents back to life using alien blood blows everything else away." Coulson tells me.
"They buried those memories for a reason, Coulson. They were driving people insane. And now you want to uncover it when you've been getting worse. May would never-" I try to say, but Coulson cuts me off.
"-May's not the Director. This is my call. I was put in charge of the Tahiti project, so those people are my responsibility. If going back in this machine saves even one life, then it's worth the risk." Coulson tells me before he lays down in the machine ready.
"Mack, I need you close just in case." I call for him from the other side of the lab.
"In case?.." Mack asks me warily.
"In case he starts screaming and you need to hold him down." I tell him, and he walks over as I pick up the question sheet that Coulson wrote for me to ask him when he is under.
"Okay, try to stay relaxed. Listen to my voice. I'll guide you through, but at the first sign of any duress, I'm pulling you out." I explain to Coulson.
"No, not until we have everything we need to find this guy." Coulson tells me, and I hesitantly nod before looking to Simmons and nodding for her to turn the machine of.
"All systems are go." Simmons tells me, and I take out a picture of Stevens and show it to him.
"Concentrate on Agent Stevens. She's your access point. Focus on her." I tell Coulson, and he nods "All right. Take him under." I tell Simmons, and she nods before turning the machine on, and Coulson closes his eyes and takes a deep breath "What do you see? Where are you?" I ask him
"The guest house... In the interview room." Coulson states.
"Do you recognize anyone?" I ask him.
"I'm alone." Coulson answers.
"Concentrate on Agent Stevens." I tell him.
"... Do you remember how you got here?.. She's here. She's doing well." Coulson tells us.
"And the others? How many are there?" I ask him.
"... Six patients, well-adjusted. I'm recommending immediate release." Coulson answers, and I write down six patients on the sheet in front of me.
"His heart rate is spiking." Simmons tells me.
"What's happening, Coulson?" I ask him.
"I see the writing... For the first time. Something's happening to them." Coulson says before he begins to gasp and sweat.
"Vital signs elevating." Simmons tells me.
"Tell me what's going on, Coulson." I say to him.
"Degenerative effects. They're unstable... What have we done? What have we done?" Coulson asks.
"What did you do? Tell me." I ask Coulson.
"We erased them, all of them. New names, new memories... It was the only way." Coulson explains.
"You did the right thing. Can you find their new names?" I ask Coulson.
"Uh, how much more can he take?" Fitz walks over.
"I don't know." Simmons admits as Coulson's body begins to jerk.
"Whatever you're doing to him, you need to stop!" Mac tells Simmons.
"Coulson, we need their names. Find their names so we can pull you out!" I tell him.
"Lewis Seaver." Coulson tells me.
"That's one. That... That's one. That's... K-keep them coming. Keep them coming." I tell him as I right the name down on the sheet, and as Coulson says more names Skye looks them up on an electronic tablet.
"The body of Lewis Seaver was found in the remains of the Santa Maria church fire in Miami." I read from the electronic tablet Skye is holding.
"In the fire was this guy too." Coulson tells us.
"Three of the others died of unnatural causes in the last six weeks. This guy is definitely targeting Tahiti patients." I say to them.
"Is there still a chance?" Coulson asks me.
"Two of them are alive. We need to find out which one is the killer. Do you remember anything, any clues?" I ask Coulson.
"... Your not okay, and your getting worse. But I can help you... I need to know! I need to know!" Coulson shakes.
"Get him the hell out of there!" Mac shouts.
"Shut it down! Shut it down! Sedate him! I'm calling May." I tell them as Mac holds Coulson down and I step out of the room to call May on my cellphone that I take out of my right, back trouser pocket with my right hand and raise it my my right ear after failing May's number.
"Lyra?" May asks over my cellphone "We have a Ward situation that's about to get really bad for all of us." She explains to me.
"Coulson went into the memory machine." I tell her.
"What?! And you let him." May asks me incredulously.
"It wasn't my call." I tell her.
"Lock him up and keep him under observation until I get back." May tells me before she hangs up, and I put my cellphone down onto a near table and walk back over to the other to see the machine off, but Coulson is trying to get up with his eyes closed as Mack tries to keep him down.
"I need to know. I need to know!" Coulson grunts.
"What did you do to him?" Mack asks Simmons.
"Just hold him down." Simmons says as she tries to sedate Coulson, but Coulson pushes her away. I then take out my gun from my holster and aim it at Coulson
"Coulson?! Don't make me use this." I tell him as Mac stands aside and Coulson looks at me.
"I'm sorry." Coulson apologises as he looks at all of us and pants.
