《MAOS ; No More Secrets》Face My Enemy

As I ride my motorcycle, that I stole from The Government Warehouse, along South Beach in Florida, Hunter kisses a girl who has been invited to a fundraiser that has something that for sale that Coulson and May have put themselves on a mission to collect, so I drive past them just as Hunter takes her ticket to the fundraiser out of her bag and holds it out to me as I pass, and I grab it from him without the girl noticing. I then look back at Hunter to see him turn his head towards me and right wink at me as I drive away.
"The rabbit's in the hutch. I'm on my way." I tell Coulson over com in my motorcycle helmet as I make my way back to The B.U.S.
After arriving back at The B.U.S., I ride up the open Landing Bay before parking and turning the ignition off. I then take my helmet off and place it on the seat of the motorcycle and I run up stairs before entering the briefing room, and where Skye and Triplett are, and I throw Triplett the invitation to the fundraiser.
"I think we'll make it. Hunter did a good job, uh, distracting Gabriel Soto's executive assistant." I explain to them as Triplett places the invitation on the computer table, and Skye connects her laptop to the computer before beginning to photocopy it and put Coulson and May's names on the guest list for the fundraiser.
"Oh, I bet he did. Damn. Tickets cost $25,000?" Triplett asks Skye shocked as he looks at Skye's laptop to see the price.
"Each. That's why I'm going for the five-finger discount." Skye explains to him before she looks to me and nods.
"Mack? You're on." I tell Mack through my com as he is driving Coulson and May to the Fundraiser as we speak.
"Copy that. We're pulling up now." Mack tells us, and his com echoes through speakers in The Briefing Room.
"Good work on the cover, Skye. We're in." Coulson tells us.
"Okay. Remember, Soto has the painting in a sublevel storage room until it comes out later tonight for the guests." I remind them.
"How heavy is the security?" May asks us.
"Still assessing. Let's assume 'very'. Keep in mind we've got diplomats here, state officials. These are not friends of S.H.I.E.L.D." I remind them.
"Bridget said Soto's sending out the painting for verification first thing in the morning. She, uh, whispered it in my ear, if you know what I mean." Hunter explains to us over his com as Mack should be picking him up as we speak.
"Yes, everybody on the planet knows what you mean, Hunter. Let's focus." Coulson tells Hunter.
"Right, so upshot is tonight's our one chance to steal this thing." Hunter says.
"Director, are you sure you don't want me there? I can help you and May get around any security measures Soto has in-" I try to say, but Coulson cuts me off.
"-No, keeping it to two agents allows us to minimize detection in a small space. I need you there to lead your team and to step in as Director encase things go south." Coulson explains to me as Fitz walks into The Briefing Room, and Fitz, Skye and Triplett look to me warily.
"... Copy that, sir." I assure him.
"Good. This writing was in Garrett's lab, the Obelisk, and now a 500-year-old piece of art. It's important. Getting that painting could mean answers for us." Coulson explains to us.

"Yes, sir. We will-" I cut myself off when we hear what sounds like a high pitched scream over the coms "-Wait. What was that?" I ask Coulson confused.
"Yeah. That's May." Coulson tells us.
"I-is she okay? Is everything okay?" I ask him cautiously.
"Yes. She's laughing. I think the worst of it's over now." Coulson assures us.
"Excuse me... My face hurts." May states.
"Come on. We got a cover to maintain and some details to go over. Going radio silent. We'll resume contact shortly." Coulson says before their com locations disappear from the map on the wall computer.
"Did they just turn off their coms?" Skye asks us.
"Coulson, May, you copy?" I ask them, but I get nothing "Yes, they did." I tell Skye.
"Nice work out there, boss." Hunter says to me as he and Mack walk into The Briefing Room.
"Nice work yourself, though it didn't look like you were suffering too much." I say to him.
"And we were babysitting an empty plane. How is this fair?" Skye asks as she refers to Fitz, herself and Triplett.
"It's weird, women just like me, always have. Never understood it. Must be a magnetism thing, I guess. Who can explain it, eh?" Hunter asks us.
"If it makes you feel any better, I don't get it, either." Skye says to him as I see Fitz holding back from the conversation and the team.
"You alright?" I mouth to Fitz, and he nods rather quickly.
"You hear that? If I wanted someone to take jabs at me, I'd still be married." Hunter tells us.
"Mm. Not this story again. Can we not?" Mack asks annoyed.
"Oh, no, I think we can." Skye says as she looks to Hunter.
"I first met her on a spring night. She was on the pier facing the outer banks, the moonlight glinting off her face. She resembled a goddess. Of course, that was her cruel trick-" Hunter gets cut off when Coulson and May's Coms pop back up on the computer wall.
"-Guys?" Coulson asks us.
"Best timing ever." Triplett says to him.
"Oh, decided to come back online, did we?" Skye asks Coulson and May.
"Talbot's here." Coulson states.
"Talbot? What the hell's he doing there?" I ask Coulson and May confused.
"No idea. All that matters is our cover's at risk, so I'm calling an audible. We're not gonna wait till later to get the painting. We're gonna get it now." Coulson explains.
"I'll take point." May states.
"Let's move." Coulson tells May. Coulson and May then find Soto, and May distracts him as Coulson prepares to scan his retina patterns to access the house vault which has the painting inside.
"Well, I just think it's so admirable what you're doing for that poor church that burned down." May says to Soto "Oh... Well, I bet letting people see the miracle painting in person is bringing out all kinds of donors that you haven't met before. But just remember, I'm here for the cause. Well, the cause and the company." We hear May's one sided conversation as the com's speak range sounds turned down.
"She just said more words than I've heard her say in a year." Skye states.
"May, when you get the chance widen you speak range on your com. Skye will be able to pick up other conversations and clear them out to see if we can get any info from you surroundings." I explain to her.

"I just have to say, philanthropy is my passion." May says to Soto.
"All right, Agent May." Triplett comments.
"That's very alarming." Fitz adds, as I dought she knows anything about philanthropy.
"I'm all about giving." May tells Soto before they both momentarily speak in Spanish, and I scrunch my nose in disgust.
"What did they say?" Skye asks me.
"You don't want to know." I admit to her.
"I must get a picture of us together. Charles, come here. Honey, can you take a picture of me and Mr. Soto? It'll be such a nice memento of the evening." May says to Coulson.
"Oh, yes, that would be nice." Coulson says.
"He's your husband?" Soto asks May confused, as she was just flirting with him a moment ago.
"We're modern. Charles, please?" May asks Coulson as Coulson begins to scan Soto's retina patterns to access the house vault.
"Hang on, Heidi. Just trying to find the flash." Coulson says to May.
"Honestly, this happens every time. How hard could it be? They sell these phones to children." Mays says to Coulson.
"Okay." May tells him.
"Excuse me. I should go see about my other guests." Soto says to them.
"Oh, no, no, no, please. Uno momento." May says to Soto.
"Yes, yes, yes. One moment, and... There we go." Coulson says.
"Well, it was just-" May tries to say, but Coulson cuts her off
"-Wasn't it just?" Coulson asks.
"Hmm?" May asks Coulson.
"Mr. Soto, thank you so much. Lovely party. Goodbye. Come on, dear... We're blown." Coulson says.
"Why?" I ask him confused.
"No idea. I think Talbot's still pissed 'cause we kidnapped him that time." Coulson suggests.
"We need to do this now." May tells us.
"Oh, yeah." Coulson agrees, and we watch them as their coms move on the map of the house on the wall computer.
"Sublevel storage room straight ahead, painting's there." I tell them.
"Great. This isn't the op we anticipated. Everything's gonna be a little more fast and dirty than we planned." Coulson explains to us.
"Only makes it more interesting." I tell him.
"See? The exuberance of youth." Coulson states as they approach something that is glowing red on the screen.
"Guys, wait. You're about to hit-" Skye tries to say, but Coulson cuts her off.
"-Laser grids. Why is it always laser grids?" Coulson asks.
"Guy's not kidding around." May comments.
"Alright. I got this." Coulson states.
"They already know we're here." May says as she walks into the laser grids, setting of the alarms.
"Oh, yeah." Coulson says before he follows her.
"There's no painting here." Coulson says to us.
"Skye, find that painting." I tell her as she checks the fundraiser sales.
"Could be a mistake. Another room, maybe?" May asks us as a record of appropriation pops up on Skye's laptop, and I sigh in annoyance.
"No, it's not a mistake. A record of appropriation just popped up on the church's books. Guess who from." I say to them.
"Don't tell me, the U.S. Government." Coulson states.
"Talbot took possession of the painting from the church this morning. 'Related to an ongoing government investigation', it says." I explain to them as I read from Skye's laptop.
"Why is he even on this? How does he know about that painting? We need to-" Coulson tries to say, but May cuts him off.
"-We need to go!" May tells him.
After Coulson and May informed us that Talbot wants to meet them both at Hotel La Ona in an hour to discuss the painting, May has went early to see what he is up to before Coulson arrives as Coulson is coming back to The B.U.S. first. As we wait for Coulson to arrive, Skye and Triplett stand in The Briefing room as myself and Fitz sit on the far left outside of The Briefing Room playing chess to pass the time as Mack reads a book on the far right side of The Briefing Room as Hunter stands beside him doing high kicks with a soccer ball. I then hesitantly make my next move on the chess board before Fitz moves his next piece straight over my king and Queen.
"Check mate." Fitz states.
"What are you seeing that I'm not?" I ask Fitz as I turn the chess board around to look at his point of view.
"You left your King and Queen unguarded." Fitz turns the chess board back around.
"I had a plan." I admit to him, and he looks up at me knowingly "Well I though I had a plan." I sigh at him.
"Maybe you should just stick to planning missions." Fitz says to me.
"Ouch." I laugh light-heartedly as I place my right hand over my chest, and he smiles a little as he sets the chess pieces back up.
"I've missed that smile." I say to him, and his smile fades as he looks up at me "I've actually seen that smile a few times when your around Mack." I say to him.
"Have you been spying on me?" Fitz asks me skeptically.
"Your part of my team, Fitz. Your my responsibility along with everyone else on this B.U.S. I spy on you just as much as I spy on every one else, I just happen to have a few favourites." I explain to him as he finishes setting the chess pieces back up "I trust you, which means I care about you. Meaning I feel the need to look out for you. My team is family." I explain to him.
"I guess your my family, too then." Fitz shows me a small smile, and I smile back at him before I look up through the broken windows of The Briefing Room to see Skye and Triplett looking into Coulson and May's classified mission.
"Don't remember Coulson asking you to do extra research on this thing." I say to Skye as I walk over to the outside of The Briefing Room and lean my right arm in where a window is supposed to be.
"I'm being industrious." Skye tells me.
"Or are you digging into a top-secret mission to find out about the parts they're not telling us?" Triplett asks her.
"I'm a good, helpful soldier." Skye tells us.
"Your breaking protocol." I correct her, and she looks over her right shoulder to fake glare at me.
"Tell on me, I dare you." Skye dares me playfully before she looks back to the computer wall.
"Well, I happen to appreciate your instinct to be thorough." Hunter says as he catches the soccer ball before leaning against the outside of The Briefing Room and leaning his right arm in where a window is supposed to be "I myself prefer a pint and a good nap, but, then, I'm the lazy type." He explains to us.
""Lazy" is not the first word that comes to mind." I admit to him.
"Dangerous?" Hunter asks me, but I shake my head at him "I understand. But truly, it should be "lazy". I just hide it well." He explains.
"Think that's what drove away the ex-wife?" Skye asks him,
"See, now you're bringing it back up." Mack says annoyed.
"Ha ha, and no. It didn't work out because interspecies relationships are hard. I was a human, whereas she was a demonic hell-beast." Hunter explains plainly.
"He doesn't like her." Mack states, and Hunter throws the ball at Mack without turning to him, but Mack successfully catches it with both hands.
"You don't say." Triplett comments.
"She's pure evil." Hunter adds.
"Hey, at least you got away from your ex. The guy I had a crush on is now the psycho living in our basement." Skye explains to them.
"Your not to complain, I slept with the psycho." I remind her.
"And every time you say that, it disgusts me." Skye states grossed out.
"Wait, you dated that wackjob?" Hunter asks me incredulously.
"Slept with. I was only in it for the sex, I don't do relationships." I explain to him.
"You know, I wish I could relate, but all my exes are awesome." Mack buts it.
"Is that right? I seem to remember an entire year where you had to pretend you liked quinoa." Hunter reminds him.
"Yeah. That was a dark time." Mack sighs.
I then turn to Fitz to see if he wants to engage with the conversation, but he begins to glance at where I was sitting as he plays chess on his own. After Coulson returned and said that May is on her way, Fitz wandered off somewhere as myself, Skye, Triplett, Hunter and Mack gather around Coulson as he explains to us about the fundraiser and what Talbot wanted.
"I don't know what he was doing there. I don't know how he-" Coulson cuts himself off as May walks in.
"May, we're just figuring out whether or not we should-" I try to explain to her, but she cuts me off as she looks to Coulson.
"-Good. Coulson." May says before she leaves the room, expecting him to follow her. Coulson then glances at us before he follows after her. What's up with her?
After Coulson and May leave, Skye continues look through the classified mission as myself, Triplett, Hunter and Mack watch. I then look over to the right doorway of The Briefing Room to see Fitz, and I motion my head to the left for him to join us, but he just shakes his head abruptly before looking down. Just then, the power on The B.U.S. begins to shut down, and the back up generator comes on.
"We're in trouble." Fitz lightly mumbles as I pull up the current plan of The B.U.S. onto the wall computer, and look at it confused as the cargo-holding ramp closes.
"The cargo-holding ramp just went up." I say to them confused "Fitz, Mack?" I ask them for answers.
"The emergency exits are locking all over the plane. It's the equalization stabilizers: they're fried. The B.U.S. thinks we made a water landing. We're sealed in. There's no way out." Mac explains to us.
"Well, who's doing this?" Hunter asks us confused.
"We're the only ones on The B.U.S.. This is all happening automatically." Skye explains as she walks over to the power control in The Briefing Room.
"How?" I ask them
"Uh, I think I know." Fitz says, and we all turn to him as he looks at the left power control in The Briefing Room, and there's some type of disk attached to it "S-somebody... We... We've been..." He tries to find the word.
"Sabotaged." Mack says to him.
"Yes. This is based on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s equ... Tech. It means that the plane is... The plane will..." Fitz tries to explain just as the emergency lights explode and the power begins shuts down completely "That." He says.
"The B.U.S. will explode?" I ask Fitz.
"Soon." Fitz states.
As Fitz explains to myself, Skye, Hunter and Mack how the disk in the power control is making The B.U.S. explode, he pulls up a live footage blueprint of The B.U.S. on the computer wall, as Triplett checks the flight system of The B.U.S..
"See? So it's like a... A small disease." Fitz explains.
"Virus?" I ask him.
"A virus, yes, and it's going through..." Fitz tries to find the right words.
"... Through the plane's electrical systems." Hunter speaks up.
"Yeah, blowing things up." Fitz says.
"The stabilizers, monitors." Mack adds.

As it would stand, the truth of the matter was that aliens had visited Earth before. Roswell was neither a hoax nor unique. It was simply a consequence of a world growing smaller as communication systems became more and more advanced, partly a result of said visitations. For the most part, past interactions between one of the planet Earth's more intelligent species of lifeform and the alien visitors were along the lines of obscure scientific surveys and tests disturbingly similar to attempts by some human scientists to estimate the intelligence of simians. For any species capable of travelling the stars. Visiting planet Earth made about as much sense as backpacking through the Ural Mountains of Siberia with nothing but a flint and a compass. That is to say, most people would prefer to stay close to someplace within walking distance of a mall or a population density slightly higher than four sapient beings per parsec. Still, statistically speaking, there are bound to be some weirdos who find joy rides though a nowhere solar system fun. Just buzzing a frantic farmer or two and playing chicken with an F-16 for the heck of it. Maybe even bring home a bovine to show off to the guys at the office.
