《You And I》ƇӇƛƤƬЄƦ 7: Dixie Larissa Clarkson

woke up by the sunlight screaming into my room, through the slight line between the two curtains.
A groan escaped my lips as I rolled over in frustration on the mattress and tightened the duvets even more tightly around me.
The duvets were too warm and inviting to leave, so I snuggled in more and closed my eyes. But like all stupid bugs in a beautiful picture, my phone started to chime.
Ugh!
My eyebrows got pulled together as I crept my left hand out from the duvet and grabbed the electronics from the nightstand.
Flipping it open in a quick move of my index finger, I scanned it's tiny screen.
My eyes slightly widened as the sight of 'Dad' written on the screen came to my view.
Flipping it close, I rested the buzzing device over my chest as a debate rose in my head.
Pushing everything at the back of my head, I rubbed a hand over my sleepy face, I placed the still buzzing device back and made my way to the bathroom.
Not now, Dad.
⚪✶⚪
Taking a bite on the granola bar, I sat myself on the single chair next to the counter in the kitchen.
Slipping my old Nokia out of my pocket, I scanned it's main screen.
A sudden pang rang in my body, as my eyes landed on the date displayed over the tiny screen.
Yup, 5th of November. The exact date when the maternal side was erased out of my life. The awful day when my eyes wept endlessly. The very unfortunate day, when I came home and wasn't lucky enough to get myself wrapped into those arms and warmth to take over me but had to run to hospital to find Mom on the death bed breathing her last breaths.
Throwing the half eaten bar into the bin, I grabbed my keys and laced my boots on, grabbing my jacket from the hook.

Locking up, I stepped out of the flat and took the elevator to the ground floor.
⚪✶⚪
"I'll have that red rose" I mumbled and the old lady nodded, handing one to me before I payed and walked out.
It took me a five minutes drive, when finally my boots landed on the concrete pathway.
Tugging the flower into my jacket, I secured my bug near the entrance of the empty God's acre.
⚪✶⚪
"Hey Mom-" I whispered as I bent down and pressed the flower on the headstone. Letting my fingertips trace over the 'Mrs. Agnetha Clarkson, beloved Wife, Mother and Daughter' letters on the cold stone.
"It's me. I'm sorry I couldn't come and visit you in a long time" I said, as I sat down on the grass.
"I know you are in there somewhere listening to me. And I want to let you know for a billionth time, that I love you" I bit my lower lip as the words rolled off my tongue and my vision started to cloud.
Hold yourself together, Larissa...
"Plus. Wow! See this. Dad is not even here today. Must have forgotten in his drunken night" a slight cough escaped my lips as I wiped my eyes with my right sleeve.
"I left home, Mom. I can't live there anymore" I said clearing my throat.
Disordered sentences were slipping out my mouth one after the other, but I cared less.
"I do remember, that you asked me to be with Dad and to take care of him. I tried, Mom. But I failed you. Like you failed me, by not fighting enough with cancer and left me all by my own" a sudden chuckle escaped my throat as I wiped my wet face.
"Phew! What am I even saying. Anyway, I'll come around soon. Until then Mom" words got recited as I rose up to my feet and pressed my two fingers to my lips before placing them over her name.

With long strides, I finally walked towards the gates.
⚪✶⚪
8:00pm struck onto the wall clock as I stepped in through the glass door, with my blue and silver uniform.
"Hi. I'm Rose Simon. You must be the new employ, Larissa. Aiden told me about you" a 5"4' red head walked towards me as she stuck her hand my way, with a smile over her pale face and glow in her dark eyes.
I nodded slightly and shook her hand.
"Umm... okay then. Come with me" she said as she started her pace, beckoning me to follow her.
A few dodges through the grinding crowd, we finally stepped in front of the bartender's desk with a grinning Luke on the other side.
She lifted a loaded tray and handed it over to me, pointing at each and every table I need to make a delivery at.
"Hey Luke!" The very familiar husky voice boomed into the place, making me slightly tilt my head and look at the entrées.
