Chapter forty-four.

I rubbed my eyes and sat up, I panicked at first, not remembering where I was until I saw three boys laying on the floor. Tony and Zac were so close together it looked like they were hugging each other.

"They're a cute couple, don't you think?" My eyes drifted towards the voice. Sean was stood in the doorway with an amused smile on his face. "Nice bed hair," he winked and set a coffee in front of me. "I bumped into Kathy and she said she was going to drop these off."

"That's sweet of her and don't judge the hair."

"Dude, why is your arm around my waist?" My hands flew to my head and tried to pat down the mess. Sean burst out laughing.

"What's going on?" Tony yawned.

"Ah, I do love you, Mitchie." I was pulled into a hug by Sean, who was still chuckling to himself.

"Not funny," I huffed. "I love you, too, I suppose." He pulled back in shock, his eyes widened. I giggled. "Joking."

"I know," he winked and pushed me over. "Move."

"Could at least say please," I muttered. "How did you guys sleep?" I asked the three of them. Sean was the only presentable one to look at since Tony and Zac had no shirts on...

"Besides being hugged by his dude, it was good." Zac jerked his thumb in the direction of Tony. "Who knew hospital floors were so comfortable?" It was obvious he was joking.

"You two made a cute couple," I mused, tapping my chin, they both shot me a look making me hold my hands up. "Sorry. No need to be...ashamed." Tony went bright red and didn't comment. For a second I thought he was actually... you know, likes boys?

"Come on, let's get something to eat. I'm starving." I was tugged out of the bed by Zac. "If it's a struggle for you to walk, I can carry you..." I didn't have time to respond before I was picked up and trying to flatten the hospital gown so no one could see the embarrassing knickers Phoebe had given me.

"I hope you're not stealing Mitchie, Zac," I felt us quickly spin round, making my head go funny, to see Kathy standing with a small on her face and a hand on her hip. "She needs to stay a little longer... Until her dad-" she stopped talking, the smile slowly sinking from her face.

"Don't worry, we are taking her for some brunch, want to join us?" Sean asked, placing a hand on her shoulder. She let out a startled noise before looking up at him. "Sorry, didn't think I'd scare you."

"It's no problem. Sure, it's my break in a minute, been working the nightshift." She barely finished her sentence before she was yawning. "I'll tell you what's good to order," she winked and led the way towards the elevators.

Twenty minutes later we were sitting at a table with places upon plates of food. Since Kathy got free food because she got no dinner and her brother worked in the kitchen part-time, so she ordered almost everything for us to try.

"You're going to run us dry," her brother, Simon, had said to her. She winked at him before hugging him over the counter separating them. She and Simon looked too alike, it was creepy.

"How old is Simon?" Sean asked after taking a slice of my toast.

"My age, we're twins," she grinned at looked over at her brother.

"No way, Tony and James are twins," Zac said, looking at Kathy. It took me a moment to realize he was really looking at her - as in, checking her out. I had to admit Kathy was quite good looking, she looked like she was getting any boy she had her eyes set on... Made me wonder who her eyes were set on at this moment in time.

"Really? That's so cool," she smiled at Tony and, again, I noticed he was checking her out. I felt someone’s foot nudge mine, my eyes scanned them quickly before resting on Sean, and he was frowning. He slyly nodded his head in the direction of the corridor leading to the toilets. I sighed in response.

"Be right back," I stood and walked towards the corridor.

"Here," I looked up at Sean; he was holding his hoodie out. "You look a little cold," he smiled kindly while I took it off him. "I saw you looking at them..."

"Yeah, I can't help it. The way they looked at her. She's probably both their types and she won't mess them around if one of them likes her-" Sean put his hand over my mouth, even though I carried on talking - too lost in my own thoughts of how much better Kathy is than me.

"Will you shut up?" Startled I stopped talking and looked at Sean. "Thank you. Mitchie, everyone admires someone else if they are pretty, doesn't mean they like them-"

"Did you?"

"No..." I cocked my head to the side. "I didn't, okay?"

"Why not? You said everyone admires someone else," I peeked in an empty room with no name and sat on the chair.

"Yes, but I just don't admire her..." he ran a hand over his face. ”Hey, you changed the subject!"

I grinned at him. "It's what I do. Seriously. That means they like her then! If you didn't admire her then it must be because they like her..."

"For the love of God, Mitchie! They don't like her. I didn't admire her for different reasons," he crossed his arms over his chest. I sighed and decided to lie on the bed. "C'mon, Mitchie-"

"What are you guys doing?" I didn't bother to open my eyes; I would know his voice anywhere.

"Just talking," Sean said, I could feel one of their gazes on me but I still refused to open my eyes. I was being stupid. If they liked her, they should go for it, not wait around for a girl who can't make up her stupid mind!

"Mitchie, are you okay?" I felt the bed dip, my eyes cracked open to see Tony looking back at me with a worried expression.

"Oh my God." My eyes widened and snapped to Sean, who was looking out the window.

"Mitchie, what is it?"

"Oh my God, Sean." He turned to look at me with a puzzled look before it turned into a smirk one.

"You know, you shouldn't scream things like that, people might get the wrong idea," he winked.

"You-!" Now he looked confused again. "Here, now."

"Can't he wait until we are alone?" He joked, still confused.

"No - Tony, out, I need to talk to him." Tony looked over at Sean as he backed out the room, the warning look he sent him could make people drop dead.

"What is it?"

"Are you-" I blanked, what if he wasn't? Say I took what he said the wrong way?

He sighed and looked at me, "yes. I am."

"How could you not tell me?! I thought we were best friends..."

"It's not my fault I didn't want to tell you something I barely accept myself, Mitchie," he looked so sad that I had to get up and hug him.

"I'm sorry," I whispered. "I shouldn't expect people to tell me everything." He hugged me back and walked back to our group.

My mind still couldn't process it, my best friend is gay?

"Hallelujah!" I sang. "It's raining men!"

"Who gave her that fizzy drink?" Tony said with an amused smile on his face.

"It's raining men, hallelujah, its raining men!" I continued to sing the only part I could remember. I felt hyper and I wanted to have fun.

"What do you think will shut her up?" James asked from the driver’s seat.

"Skittles!" I shouted it so loudly that they turned to look at me from their positions in the car. "Oh my God, imagined if it rained Skittles! You could finally shout 'taste the rainbow'! Why didn't we ever think of that before?" I sat back in my seat and closed my eyes, feeling energy run through my body.

I could hear four masculine laughs around me, making a small smile form on my lips - I couldn't even imagine my life without these guys. "Who wants to go get some drinks?" I asked with a wide smile. Hyperness and getting a little bit drunk sounded good - well, not good but fun in a weird way.

"No." James said flatly from his seat in the front. I blew a raspberry at him before taking my ringing phone out of my pocket.

"If it isn't my most amazing best friend in the whole wide world!"

"Are you drunk?" Nora's voice crackled through the loudspeaker, I held the phone away from my ear and looked at it.

"No, she's very hyper though. Do you want to look after her?" Zac commented from besides me.

"No thank you. But I would like to meet up though, I'm bored senseless. Plus, Tess is moaning next to me - ow! What the hell-"

"Hey, guys, want to take a bored Nora off my hands?" Tess chuckled. "You can't hurt me, I'm pregnant." We all chuckled at Tess' way of getting out of trouble. "Let's meet up. Shopping center, thirty minutes?" After we all agreed, we set off in the direction of the shopping mall.

I had a funny feeling about it but I pushed it aside and joined in the boys' conversation.
