Chapter thirty-eight.

My breathing was short and ragged as I hid behind a shelf, James, Robbie and Tony just around the corner. Tessa had just gotten a test and was now in the toilet taking it while I was waiting for her down the aisle -- what the boys were doing here was beyond me.

"What are you on about?" James spoke first. I peeked round to see the heading in my direction; I pulled the hood of my blue Cookie Monster jumper up and quickly walked down the aisle with them right behind me.

"I'm telling you, I think she is," Robbie this time. He cannot see me here; he would connect the dots and find out before Tessa has! I clutched the pregnancy test to my chest as I scanned around to find a way out of here without them seeing me.

"Hey, isn't that-"

"I mean, what if she is?" Robbie cut Tony off just in time. I glared at the Johnson brother and mouthed for him to be quiet. He pointed his finger in direction of the next aisle; I nodded my head and swiftly walked away.

"I'll be back, if not wait for me by the front." I heard him say before appearing in front of me. "Oh God, Mitchie." My face scrunched up in confusion, why was he looking at me like that?

"What?" I hissed once I realized he wasn't going to say anything else.

"You're pregnant?"

"What? Oh, God, no! It's not for me..." He would work it out any second now, yup, I just saw it clicked in his head.

"It's for Tessa, isn't it? That's why she's been avoiding my brother." He plucked the test from my hand. "Huh, she doesn't seem the type to do it with-"

"Do not say anything."

"Is she pregnant with my brother's kid?!" He hissed, I held my hands up.

"Ever heard of don't shoot the messenger?"

"Sorry, sorry. But seriously? Here." He shoved the test in my hand and pushed me in the direction of the tills.

"Slow down, gosh, these are backups for if she screws the other ones up." I smiled at him, hoping it would calm him down - clearly, it didn't work.

"How can you smile about this?"

"Because someone needs to be the mature adult, Tessa was freakin' out and now you're freakin' out." He sighed and ran a hand down his face.

"Hey, Tony, you down here?" My eyes widened and I ran down the aisle before either of the other brothers could see me. "Dude, why are you holding that?" Was the last thing I heard before I was jogging towards the bathroom and, hopefully, a calm Tessa.

"Don't cry, honey, it'll be fine..." I wrapped my arms around Tessa as she cried; currently we were sitting in the middle of the food court talking about what she was going to do.

"I know it will be fine, I'm crying because what do I do about Robbie? He won't want to be with me after this..."

"You won't know until you -- look who it is." The three boys closed in on our table and sat down.

"Hello, ladies," James greeted us. He plucked a chip from my tray before I swatted his hand away.

"Get your own food, Johnson."

"Which one?" They all replied at the same time. I gave them a dirty look. I caught Tony's eye, he was silently asking if she was pregnant.

"I need to get a drink, anyone want anything?"

"I'll have a coke, please," Tessa said quietly. I smiled at her and nodded.

"Same here," James and Robbie said.

"I'll help you," Tony pushed himself away from the table and followed behind me. "Well?"

"You can't tell anyone." I looked at him to see his gaze on Robbie. "Please, Tony, you can't say anything. This is for Tessa and Robbie to discuss."

"Okay, fine, but it better happen soon."

"Hey, hey look at me." I took his face gently and made him look at me. "Why are you getting so wound up about this?"

"Because they thought it was for you." His mouth snapped shut before he said anything else.

"W-what?"

"They saw me with the test and thought it was for you, they didn't believe me so the quicker Tessa says something the quicker they believe me."

"Hey, if they don't believe you then it's my problem, I'm the one they think has a kid growing inside me." He cracked a smile before resting his forehead against mine. "Don't worry about it, they can believe what they want to believe but we both know it's not the truth."

"Okay, fine." He hugged me and paid for the drinks. "By the looks on their faces they probably think you've just broken the news to me," he whispered as he looked around.

I chuckled, "if it wasn't for Tessa I would actually go along with it to scare them."

"Sean!" I pulled the unsuspecting boy into a hug when I spotted him.

"Hey, Mitchie, how's it going?"

"It's going good," I grinned at him then Zac, how I didn’t notice them before we started walking over was beyond me. "Tessa this is my amazing best friend, Sean."

Tony, James, Robbie and Zac coughed then looked each other chuckling. I grinned at them before looking at Tessa, "Sean this is Tessa."

"Nice to meet you," he shook her hand and sat down next to me.

We spent the rest of the afternoon joking around, talking and at some point I think Tessa told Robbie, he came back looking really happy and he even hugged me.

"So," Sean said as we were walking back to the car with everyone else a few hours later. "When are you going to choose?"

I sighed, "Way to ruin the fun, Seany-boy."

"Sorry, forget I asked."

"I was joking. I don't know, I want a bit more time, I want to be friends with them but I want more..."

"That sounds like you wanted to go into details of what you want from them," he laughed as my cheeks went red.

"Shut it," I hissed. "Do you want to come to Trent's wedding?"

"You’re asking me to a wedding?"

"Yeah, Zac's going because he's friends with the guys, my girls are going because they're friends with me. And now you’re going because you’re my best friend and my date for the night."

I was pulled into a hug, "I'm glad we're friends, Mitchie."

"Me too," I choked out. He sighed and put me down. "It would be weird if we never became friends."

"I know right." he smiled as we neared the others. "I got a lift here with Zac, I'll see you later."

"Yeah, bye, Sean, love you." I winked at him.

He laughed, "Love you too, Mitchie." I waved over my shoulder but Sean pulled me back, "Just a word of advice, don't leave them hanging too long, the boys have quite a lot of feelings."

"I know thanks." I watched as he walked away. I thought I would have head butted the parking lot roof as James honked the horn and scared the life out of me. I flipped him off as he burst out laughing.

"Mitchie, did you hear?"

"I can hear right now, so you'll have to be more specific."

"Even your sarcasm won't ruin my mood. Tessa’s pregnant." He grinned at me before looking at Tessa.

"At least we know Mitchie isn't pregnant," James commented.

"Yet," Robbie added in, sending me a smirk.

I blushed. "Thanks, guys, what are you implying?"

"You make it sound like it's bad to be pregnant..." Tessa looked at me.

"No, wait, I didn't mean it like that-"

"I was kidding." She laughed at me. "Don't worry, they're teasing. James told me that he thought the test was for you."

"I want to know who you thought the father was if I was pregnant," I asked them. Tony stiffened in his seat while Robbie and James exchanged a look. They stayed silent and we didn't talk on the way home.
