《BITTERSWEET TRAGEDY◦VIKTOR KRUM》EIGHTEEN

morning, Viktor trudged down the broken wood steps of the Leaky Cauldron at exactly nine-fifty two. With a serious case of bedhead, tired eyes and a yawn so large that his jaw seemed as though it would unhinge, Arabella rolled her eyes at the eighteen-year-old. She had been waiting for him for over an hour.

"Forget about our coffee date, did you?" Her eyebrows were raised, fingers tapping impatiently on the table.

"No, I didn't forget. I was sleeping." He spoke with a deep tone. Morning voice. Viktor cursed to himself. He sat beside Bella and brushed down his sweatshirt as he did so, ruffling his hair as if suddenly attempting to look presentable.

"Yes, I know; I could hear you snoring. You should lead by my example and not be so lazy." She joked sarcastically, shoving him gently against his side when a chuckle escaped her lips. The girl was trying to lighten the mood, but upon noticing that Viktor didn't laugh with her, she frowned.

She nestled her head into his shoulder. "Vik, I wasn't being serious. Be as lazy as you bloody want to. I'm just an early riser, is all."

Finally, he laughed. "I'm not upset by that. I'm upset by my thoughts." He sighed deeply. "I was thinking about Zoe, and the burn scars that she has over her face. I-I was thinking how dangerous it would be if we went back to Hogwarts, because what I did to her . . . she wants to do to you. I don't want you to be in danger, Bella; I don't want you to look like her."

"But I have to go back to Hogwarts. I can't just abandon my school, and my friends. My sister, too. She's only twelve." She mirrored his sigh. "Believe me, I never thought I would be in this situation - for Merlin's sake, I'm hiding from my werewolf roommate who possibly wants to kill me. Like I said yesterday, Snape knows she's a werewolf, so if him and Dumbledore were going to expel her, they would've done it by now. Zoe is most likely staying at Hogwarts for as long as I am, so I need to face this danger instead of running from it."

Her lover shook his head in protest. "I don't understand how you are expecting to--"

Viktor was interrupted by the presence of a stout man, with a slightly hunched back and a grin far too large for his small face. He stood beside the table with his foot tapping on the solid oak floor, waiting to take their order, although at first this was not recognisable because no speech had yet sounded from his crooked mouth.

"I'll have a Snakeweed tea, please." Bella mumbled through a yawn. Figured she needed the tea to get her through the day.

"Just a coffee for me." Viktor spoke, when the strange man stared in wonder. Once he had nodded in acknowledgment and trudged out of hearing range, the Bulgarian leaned further into the table so he could whisper close to his girlfriend's ear. "What's Snakeweed tea?"

"It's a herbal tea, but with healing properties from the magical plant. You don't have it in Bulgaria?" The redhead asked.

Viktor shook his head in response, suddenly startled when a strong cup of coffee was slammed in front of him. "Oh-- uh, thank you." He stuttered to the familiar stout wizard, noticing that Bella had already begun sipping at her odd-looking tea.

"My Divination lesson with the Hufflepuffs starts late today, at eleven o' clock. We should be back in time, right?" Arabella pondered at her boyfriend, whose adoring gaze had not faltered from the girl in front of her.

Viktor nodded in confirmation whilst taking a large gulp of coffee which almost - just almost - burnt his tongue. He was thankful for the lack of stinging sensation he had expected to feel, as he felt the warm drink travel down his throat. In fact, to his own surprise, it was adequately pleasant. "We'll be back at Hogwarts. I'll make sure of it," he breathed softly. "But we still need to discuss a strategy for the second task. Cedric Diggory told me that the clue is in the dragon egg I got from the first one; something about putting it underwater, which I'm not entirely sure about."

"I trust Diggory because he seems clever enough, but why would he help the opposition in the Tournament?" Bella's brows were furrowed in confusion.

The Bulgarian shrugged. "I don't know." He paused to take another sip of coffee. "Meet me after your Divination lesson; I'll wait for you outside the classroom. We can discuss the second task then."

Arabella hesitated in her reply, a sceptical smirk curling upon the corner of her blushed lips. "I would love to."

Bella ran up the spiral staircase, almost tripping over her own feet, with her schoolbag flying behind. Her Divination lesson had started just a few minutes ago, but the Ravenclaw was never late (rather unrealistically, she had aspired to keep a consistent punctuality record). She opened the door to the North Tower, racing into the classroom with a startled yet displeased Professor Trelawney gaping at her. "Miss Flannery," the strange woman addressed in a surprisingly soft tone. "You're late."

"Yes, I know, Professor. I'm sorry, it won't happen again." Bella said guiltily as she took a seat beside Deanna, greeting her with a slight smile.

Trelawney sighed, her hands gently gripping a crystal ball as she gestured to the class. "Please continue crystal-gazing."

Noticing Arabella's confused look, Deanna grinned and tapped the crystal ball that stood on their table. "We're supposed to be predicting the future using bloody glass orbs. I can't see anything, can you?"

The redhead leaned closer towards the crystal ball with focused eyes. Not unlike her friend, the view did not change; remaining the sight of a hazed silver fog. "No, I can't see anything." Maybe that's just it, Bella jokingly thought to herself. Maybe my future is nothing.

Groaning in frustration, Deanna called the Professor to their table. When the odd woman marched to their presence, she suddenly gripped their crystal ball with great haste - Bella found herself worried that the thing would smash into millions of glass pieces. Before Deanna could complain of their incapabilities, Trelawney's eyes widened and she gasped at the orb in shock. "Oh, my! Y-your future is dangerous. I see a crow-- no, a falcon-- doesn't matter. These birds are omens of danger. Perhaps the result of an enemy, or a sudden act of evil that could scar you for life."

Arabella felt her stomach drop, as if it fell out of her system altogether. "W-who are you talking to, Professor? Whose future are you trying to predict?"

The Professor could not speak. She slowly raised a shaking finger, pointing it directly at the fiery-haired Ravenclaw in front of her. Finally, after moments of stuttering and shivering fear, the woman spoke. "Y-you, my dear. Miss Flannery, you are in grave danger."

Another short and shitty chapter :')
