I get out of the uber and I stand out of the house. Here we go. That's it. Baby steps, right? First the house and then Jensen. I take a deep breath and I walk to the door. I take my keys out and then I unlock the door. I open it and I walk inside. That's when I notice Jensen sleeping on the couch. He immediately gets up and looks at me "Oh, I thought you'd be in Vancouver" I say
"No, I had a few days off and I decided to come home" he says rubbing his eyes "If you had called me, I would have cooked something" he says
"It's fine" I say and he nods.
"Well, how are you?" he asks
"Good, good"
"Great" he says and forces himself to smile
"Ok, I'm gonna go take a shower and head to bed because I'm exhausted and dirty" I say and he nods
"Do you need help with your bags?" he asks
"No, thanks. Goodnight" I say and I head upstairs.
I get in the room and I close the door. Well, the baby steps plan is screwed. But I got this, right? I'm good, I'm healed and I can face him. I take all the things out my suitcase and I put them in the washing machine. I take some fresh clothes and I get in the shower.
After the shower, I immediately jumping in bed. I really missed it. And I missed him but I don't know what to say to him after that last fight.
________________
The morning I wake up still alone in bed. It's actually the first time in months that I finally felt it like I was home again. And it was really nice. But only one thing was missing.

I ended up staying all day in the room so I didn't have to face Jensen yet. I had to figure out what to say to him. But it was already getting dark again. That's when I noticed how much time I spent in here.
A knock on the door pulled me out of my thoughts."Come in" I say. Jensen opens the door and comes in. "You know you don't have to knock"
"Well, I'm not sleeping in that couch again, I'll probably go to the guests room next time" he says stretching his back.
"Why aren't you coming here?" I ask but he ignores me. He takes his suitcase and starts to pack "Are you going to work?" I ask
"Yes" he says and starts to get dressed.
"I'm sorry I left like that" I say and he stops
"Oh really? Because it doesn't seem like it" he says
"What do you mean?"
"You leave, you come back whenever you want. No warning, nothing. You've been gone for three months and you couldn't even return my phone calls? Let me know how are you doing? And then you show up here and wait for me to fine with it? Well, I'm not fine with it"
"I know and I'm sorry but it was good for me. The detox from everything and everyone helped me heal"
"And what about me? I was hurting every second you were away (Y/N)"
"I'm sorry, I am truly sorry that I wasn't here for you, but I'm here now. And I'm here to help you. To help eachother like we always do, right?" I ask.
"Look, we've been through a lot together. And you've changed (Y/N)" he says
"No, I haven't. I mean maybe I've just grown but I haven't changed. And yes, we have been through a lot but we are going through something now too. So we need to fight. For better or for worse right? That's what we swore to eachother, right? Well, this is the worse. So we need to keep pushing, to keep fighting"

"I'm not sure we are worth fighting for anymore" he says
"What?" I whisper
"Forget it" he says and closes his suitcase
"No, you don't just throw the bomb and leave. Because we are worth fighting for. We need to fight the best way we can because this is marriage. You don't just give up. You don't just stop" I say
"Yes, you do. You do just stop. And you know what they call that? Divorce" he says pissed
"That's your easy way to get out, isn't it?" I ask fighting not to cry in front of him
"I have to leave for work" he says and leaves.

8 204Catalyst: Avowed
The year is 605, and in your home— the country of Corcaea— the souls of mankind belong to demons. A phenomenon known as the "Catalyst" is what's to blame. This diabolical phenomenon lurks within every man, woman, and child. It can turn any human into a demon, if they fall prey to one, all-consuming element. It can be anything. Fear. Grief. Generosity. Even love. In a land where Gods are real and Corcaea's theocracy is the last hope for mankind, you follow in the footsteps of Father Richard Anscham: a deeply disturbed young priest, the leader of the Church of Mercy, and the foremost researcher of the Catalyst. Despite completing a holy mission from the Goddess of Mercy, obtaining a holy Relic, and escaping from demon-infested ruins, Father Anscham is in greater peril than ever before. Ravaged in mind, body, and soul, the solace he begs to receive from the Church of Flesh is impeded by a cruel lesson: the ramifications of a life spent sacrificing everything one has for others. See through the harrowing eyes of a man at his wit's end; through a dark fantasy tale of horror, hope, and desperation. Search for the cure. Conquer your personal demons. Welcome to Catalyst! As this is an archive of Catalyst Quest (an interactive, collaborative story), the prompts that were included with the original run of Avowed have been stripped, and the story is presented like a traditional novel for your reading convenience. If you would like to read Catalyst in its original format or participate in current events, you can find us here, on Sufficient Velocity. This book is complete! The story will continue with Catalyst: Calunoth, just as soon as I am done revising its content for here on Royal Road.
