《Sure Thing, Commander ✔︎》24

The bright rays of the morning sun peeked through the tarp, shining in Ahsoka's eyes. She groaned and squinted, wishing she could sleep for just a little longer. Rex stirred next to her. He had been woken by the rising sun as well. Ahsoka finally gave up on trying to go back to sleep and her eyes fluttered open. She turned to face Rex, a small smile tugging at her mouth. He looked so cute when he was sleeping. Rex breathed in deeply then opened one eye.
"Morning Rexter" Ahsoka whispered, cupping the side of his face.
Rex leaned into her touch, holding her hand against his cheek. Ahsoka gave in, and started grinning like a child.
"Morning Soka" he muttered, wrapping his strong arms around her.
Ahsoka scooted backwards, her back pressed against his bare chest. Rex started to caress her neck, running his hand down her montrals as well. Ahsoka gave a happy little sigh, enjoying the moment with her love. She could feel his warm breath on her skin, making her shiver just the slightest. The sunlight cast a brilliant glow on the tent, making it look magical. Ahsoka closed her eyes once more, taking in the perfect moment. It was peaceful, not a sound could be heard. With the exception of Rex's breathing. She felt as his chest rose and fell against her back. It calmed her in a way.
Suddenly the bustling in the refuge started up for the day. Ahsoka groaned, knowing the moment was ruined. She shifted her weight, signaling it was time to get up. Rex stretched and let out a questionable sound before sitting up. Ahsoka did the same and scrubbed at her tired eyes. Rex looked at her and gave a cheery smile.
Without a word the two began to pack their belongings, anxious to get off Onderon and away from Lux. Rex spotted his armor in the corner and began to put it on. He kept his helmet off though, pressing it to his side. He put his belongings in a bag and slung it over his shoulder. He was ready to go. Ahsoka really didn't have to retrieve that many belongings, as she didn't bring that much stuff to begin with. Most of her stuff had been destroyed in the crash. The one thing that was too precious to let go to waste was the blaster Rex had given her. She kept that in her pocket at all times.

Rex led her back to the ship and her mouth fell open. It was way bigger than she had anticipated. Rex saw her reaction, smirking in amusement.
"Will this do?" he asked.
Ahsoka gave a light laugh, "Yes. This will do just fine"
"Are you ready to go?" Rex questioned.
If it was up to him, they would have left a long time ago.
Ahsoka nodded, "But first, there's something I have to do"
She spun on the balls of her feet and started walking back towards the refuge. Rex raised an uncertain eyebrow, but shrugged and ended up following the togruta. She finally arrived at the medical tent which made Rex even more confused. She stomped in, throwing the tarp to the side. To the left lie a very injured Lux. Perfect. She walked over to the boy and stopped, waiting until he noticed she was there. A smug look was plastered on his face, making Ahsoka's skin crawl.
"Hello Ahsoka" he purred, "Have you came back for-"
But before he could finish Ahsoka raised her fist and landed a deadly punch to his face. A sickening crack filled the tent, making Rex flinch. Lux howled in pain, clutching his nose and thrashing on the cot.
"Never come near me or Rex ever again" Ahsoka growled, her voice dangerously soft.
Lux looked petrified and let out a strangled breath. Ahsoka gave a smirk of satisfaction and turned back to Rex. Rex's jaw was on the ground. He would have never thought that Ahsoka would do something like that. It was terrifying yet bad-ass at the same time. Ahsoka laughed and waved a hand in front of his face.
"Rex?" she said, holding back her laughter.
Rex shook himself out of the trance and looked at Ahsoka. She was stunning. Especially since the sun was shining directly at her, making her features stand out. What stood out the most to Rex was her eyes. Her beautiful, sky blue, big, eyes. He found himself getting lost in them for a lot longer than he would have liked.
"Rex?" Ahsoka asked again, starting to seem genuinely worried for the clone.
"Yeah sorry I-i just didn't..." He trailed off.

Ahsoka snorted, "I know. Now how about we get off Onderon?"
Rex nodded slowly, still mesmerized by the breath taking girl in front of him. They made their way back to the ship and into the cockpit in no time. Rex sat in the pilot's seat with Ahsoka in the seat next to him. He started up the engine and flew the ship off the planet with ease. When they were in hyperspace Rex could finally relax.
"So where to?" Rex asked, looking to Ahsoka.
Ahsoka shrugged, "I have no idea"
"Would you want to just rest on a nearby planet for a little bit? We've had an exhausting few days" Rex pointed out.
Ahsoka nodded, "That sounds great"
Within a couple minutes Ahsoka was out cold. Rex asked her a question but looked over just to see her curled up into a ball, sleeping peacefully. He smiled at the sight. Rex knew that she was exhausted, he was glad she was getting the much needed sleep. He silently admired her beautiful form from afar. All he wanted to do was to scoop her up and cuddle with her at the moment. But he had to steer this ship, even though he would much rather be with Ahsoka.
He put in the coordinates for Vandor since it was a planet not that far from Onderon. It was only around three parsecs away, and he wanted to rest. He was terribly tired. He realized this when he started to drift off when they were in hyperspace. He had to slap himself awake at least five times. He figured landing to rest for a bit would be for the best.
Finally the ship came out of hyperspace, right in front of an icy, blue, planet. Just looking at it made Rex cold. Hey, at least it was a place to land. He just hoped the ship would keep them warm. He flew the ship into the atmosphere of the planet, immediately feeling the freezing, whipping, wind. Rex shivered and focused on landing the ship nearby a huge mountain covered in ice and snow. Hopefully it would give them some cover to any unwanted guests.
Once the ship was landed Rex got up from his seat. He made his way over to the sleeping togruta in the copilot chair. He picked Ahsoka up bridal style, holding her close to his chest.
"No please" she sleepily slurred.
Rex chuckled and carried her into a room with a large bed in the middle of the room. He gently set her down and pulled the covers over her. She smiled and snuggled into the blankets happily. Rex sighed and got under the covers with her as well. He stared at the ceiling for a bit before drifting off into a dreamless sleep.
"No!" Ahsoka screamed, "Please don't hurt him!"
Rex shot up, woken up from the noise of Ahsoka yelling something. At first he thought someone was inside the ship, but as his vision focused he could see that no one was there. Still, Ahsoka was thrashing and screaming next to him. She was having a nightmare.
"Ahsoka" Rex called, gently shaking her.
She cried out, quivering violently.
"Ahsoka!" Rex shouted, shaking her awake.
Her eyes shot open and she gasped for breath. She looked around and saw the concerned Rex next to her. Before he could say anything, Rex felt as Ahsoka crashed into him. Her small arms wrapped around his torso and pulled him closer to her.
"What's wrong Soka?" Rex asked.
"Nothing just a nightmare" she replied, sucking in a sharp, shaky, breah.
"Are you sure?" he pressed.
Ahsoka sighed, "It was a vision actually"
Rex looked confused, "What was it about?"
"I don't really remember that much" Ahsoka claimed, "The one thing I do remember is you"
"Me?" Rex asked.
"You were running. Looking for something" Ahsoka said, her voice breaking, "Rex you were hurt, dirty, and crying"
Rex stiffened, taking in what his love was telling him.
"What does that mean?" he questioned.
"It means something is coming" Ahsoka responded.

Of Gods and Dungeons
March 16, 2021 - Hiatus note: I will come back to this story! I'm really struggling with it, though. It's been a number of years and I kind of forgot what the original outline was. I still remember the main path, but not any of the details, because I stupidly didn't write an outline. Progress is being made. I'd like a very decent sized buffer before I start posting again. Don't want to get hopes up only to immediately disappoint! ----- Amy Barnes, an aspiring chemical researcher, finds herself dying from cancer. One of her most desperate prayers is answered in a way that she'd never dreamed possible, and she finds herself living a new life as a dungeon. Warning: Violence, morbidity Cover: Taken from here, courtesy of www.pexels.com by photographer @tookapic. Author's Note: I've read some dungeon core stories on here, and they've tickled my fancy. I've thought up a whole story, start to finish, and thought it'd be a blast to put it into words. Other than the violent and morbid aspects, this story is suitable for children. Aside from the vocabulary, that is. I will avoid the temptation to have any cursing, sexuality, or gore. Excessive gore, I suppose - it is a dungeon story, after all. I’ll do a little research from time to time, but this story will not have a great deal of rigor. I’ve made Amy’s knowledge comparable to my own for that reason. There’s a few things she knows more about than I do, and a few things that she knows less about. Unlike me, she doesn’t have access to Google - it’s a non issue for her to be more knowledgeable than me, on occasion :P This story does not use the same magic system that I’ve used in either Sorcery in Boston or A Summoner’s Confession. This one is mostly intention based, and designed to be easier access for people who are more used to the idea of, “It’s magic, therefore it works” kind of thinking. Do note that Amy is, in most senses of the term, overpowered. This goes along with the usual dungeon core stories. She’s not more powerful than other dungeons per se, but she does have knowledge and intelligence that puts them to shame. I thought about doing this in a LitRPG style, but systems take balance, and I wanted this to be pure fun to write. This story was inspired from a few sources. Despite the title, it wasn’t really inspired by Of Mice and Men, though some of the themes match. Rather, I’ve taken inspiration from a few dungeon core novels on Royal Road Legends for the main idea. Many conventions of dungeon core stories have been perverted from the genre, however. I’ve taken my usual science-loving self to town to play around with the powers, and I can only hope you have half as much fun reading this as I have had writing it.

The Cyclical Nature of Time
A girl’s life ends unexpectedly early, or so it would seem. Instead of eternal nothingness, she wakes up in an empty valley with no clue how she got there. Taking her predicament in stride, she sets out to do something about it. Unfortunately for her, the first couple of people she meets aren’t much help. They claim they haven’t heard of electricity and dress as if they were on a break from their job at a Viking-themed amusement park. MC is a somewhat normal girl. She's pragmatic and not very angsty. The story is tagged with anti-hero, but to be clear, she is not a villain. She does good if she can, she just isn't morally motivated to do so. The story starts out smelling of fantasy but will eventually shift towards sci-fi. It contains some supernatural elements and has a strong lead, but it is not your usual power trip. Expect a story that takes its time, but not to the point where entire chapters are spent on mindless chit-chat. I’m not into that. This is my first serious attempt at writing and I've learnt a lot writing this. Unfortunately, that shows. Chapter 1-10 is slow and rather pointless. Things get better, but it is not until chapter 25 or so that I began understanding how to structure chapters and to make them support the larger story. I publish about 3000 words a week (every sunday) but I write about 10000 words a week. Sticking to that pace, which is easy, the last chapter will be out by July.
