A loud crash woke Rex up. He frantically sat up and without even thinking looked next to him. He let out a sigh of relief when he realized Ahsoka was safe. He listened to the rain pounding against the ship. It was a good thing they slept on the ship. If they had been outside they would have been soaked and miserable. Ahsoka mumbled something in her sleep and Rex felt a soft smile spread across his face. She was alright. There was nothing to worry about. She was okay. He laid back down and wrapped an arm around her. She turned to face him and her eyes fluttered open.

"Good Morning" he whispered.

"Good Morning" Ahsoka replied.

Rex cuffed the side of her face and gently nudged her cheek. Ahsoka put her hand over his and grinned. She felt butterflies in her stomach and couldn't help but blush. For the first time in awhile Ahsoka was happy. She threw herself at Rex and hugged him as tightly as she could. Rex gave a gentle laugh and stoked her lekku. Suddenly the sharp smell of smoke filled Ahsoka's nose. She jumped to her feet. Rex must have smelled it too because he got up behind her. They both ran to the cargo bay and Ahsoka pressed a small button. This opened up an area with a small ramp leading to the outside.

The rain was brutal, slamming against everything it came in contact with. Rex wondered how anyone or anything could live on this planet. Then Rex and Ahsoka saw where the smoke was coming from. Their shelter was engulfed in flames. The smoke filled the sky, and left the air a faint, light, grey.

"Lightning must have struck it!" Rex had to practically scream over the roaring wind.

The rain wasn't doing much to put it out. The droplets sizzled in flames and just made the smoke worse. The hiss of the fire was almost as loud as the wind. A flash of lightning struck a nearby tree, and illuminated the jungle. Ahsoka had to cover her eyes because it was so bright. The loud boom of thunder followed almost as soon as the lightning hit.

Rex pushed the button, pulling the ramp up and forcing the bitter winds back outside. Ahsoka looked over to see Rex leaning against the wall, his abs glistening in the light. She tried to look away but it was if her eyes were glued to that spot. She found herself staring a lot longer than what she would have liked. Rex saw what was happening and rubbed his neck, his cheeks turning a light pink. Ahsoka shook her head, getting herself out of the trance.

"I-I...uh..." She stuttered.

"No it's-" Rex said and cleared his throat.

The two sat there, the sounds of thunder, and hammering rain filling the silence.

"I need to put out the fire" Ahsoka pointed out, "If it spreads to the trees the whole forest will go up in flames"

"No it's too dangerous!" Rex claimed.

"I will never forgive myself if I just sit here and do nothing!" Ahsoka cried, "We came here to hide and if the whole forest burns to the ground it will be our fault. We made that shelter and the wookies along with all the other animals are in danger!"

"Ahsoka-" Rex started.

"Please Rex!" Ahsoka interrupted, "I have to do this"

Rex turned away knowing when he was defeated. What if she got hurt? Then there would be no one there to help her! The storm was getting worse by the minute. If Ahsoka went out there, things could be flying everywhere. She could get hit! Or even struck by lightning.

"I'm coming with you" Rex declared.

"No, it's too dangerous," Ahsoka muttered.

"I'm not gonna just sit here and risk you getting hurt or worse..." Rex's voice trailed off.

"Trust me" Ahsoka whispered, taking Rex's hand into her own. "I can handle myself"

Their fingers intertwined and Ahsoka's heart skipped a beat. There was that sudden rush of energy again. Rex gave her a worried look and Ahsoka nodded as if to say, "I'll be fine"

Ahsoka snatched a large pail from the closet and jogged back to Rex. She let down the platform and a gush of wind flew into the ship. She braced herself and put her arm in front of her face. She dashed off the ship and into the storm. The rain clawed at her skin, each drop more painful than the one before. Her feet pounded the ground as she ran past the fire and into the trees. The wind nipped at her skin, it's freezing claws blowing her lekku behind her. She tried to recall where she found the lake and made a sharp left.

Back at the ship Rex stood in the doorway watching, waiting for Ahsoka's return. He was filled with dread as he imagined what could happen to her out there. The fire had gotten worse and the flames ate away at the logs in its grasp. The wind whistled, sounding like the cries of unknown people. Rex shivered and rubbed his arms to keep warm. Just the other day it was hot and humid. Now the rain was like tiny icicles beating against the trees.

Ahsoka ran through the forest determined to find a water source. The freezing, cold rain only pushed her to go harder. Everything around her was a blur. The trees, plants, and small animals. She could barely see as the rain stung her eyes. Suddenly her foot caught a root. She crashed to the ground, covered in icy mud. She wiped her arms and felt goosebumps cover her skin.

She pushed herself up onto her feet again and grabbed the bucket, ignoring the aching pain filling her body. She broke into a run again still searching for the lake. If she didn't find it soon the whole forest would be on fire. It would be all her fault. She couldn't let that happen.

Rex wiped his face clean of the droplets and squinted. The sky was growing lighter but the large thunderclouds made it seem like it was late evening. Where was Ahsoka? She should have been back by now. Rex paced back and forth on the ship hoping she was alright. He couldn't lose her just as their relationship was beginning to blossom into something serious.

Rex groaned and tried to keep his mind off losing her. Instead he thought about what their future might look like. A small house, on a densely forested planet. They would be surrounded by trees, animals wherever you looked. Hidden from war, and the empire. Away from anything bad. They would live happily, peacefully. Maybe as farmers or merchants. For now they were outcasts, criminals of the republic.

Ahsoka slid to a stop just before she fell into a roaring creek. Finally she found water. She quickly filled the large pail with water and began to run back to the ship. The water splashed against the side of the bucket as she ran. It was spilling everywhere but Ahsoka didn't care there would be time to get more. She ran as fast as she could pushing herself forward with each footstep. She had to put the fire out.

Rex paced some more and bit his lip. Where was she? The storm had raged on and so had the fire. If she wanted to put it out she better hurry up. He sighed and rubbed his face with his hands. This was stressing him out. Thunder boomed, shaking the entire ship. Rex held onto the side of a wall keeping himself on his feet. He had never experienced a storm so fierce in his life.

Suddenly he heard the sound of a ship. He stayed silent and sat there straining to hear past the storm. There seemed to be only one. But Rex could tell, it was big. The engine roared and buzzed, the sound getting louder and louder. Rex ran out of the ship just in time to see a massive shuttle land right in front of him. Clones began to file out of the ship. Only their armor was different. It looked more threatening, at least to Rex.

"Put your hands behind your head!" one shouted.

"Don't move!" Another cried.

Rex put his hands up and slowly behind his head, still shocked at the turn of events. His worst fears were coming true. He just hoped Ahsoka didn't get captured as well.

"Captain Rex you are under arrest for treason and crimes against the republic!" Dogma bellowed stepping forward.

"Dogma don't do this!" Rex cried.

Dogma had once been Rex's friend. Back on Umbara he had betrayed Rex and the 501st when he sided with General Krell. In the end Dogma killed Krell after finding out what his true intentions were. To see even Dogma affected by Order 66 made Rex's heart ache.

"No talking!" Dogma yelled.

He pushed a gun to Rex's head and forced him onto his knees. The rain pounded them, and Rex thought it might knock some of the clones over. Dogma took out a pair of binders and clasped them on Rex's wrists. Rex struggled against them but the clones stepped forward aiming their blasters at him. How was he ever going to get out of this one?

Ahsoka pushed past the leaves, branches, and the many plants in her way. Her whole body hurt but that wasn't going to stop her. She ran past a large animal, but she couldn't make it out. The rain made sure of that. She arrived in the clearing to see a large ship taking off. Right before the platform closed she got a glimpse of a blonde haired clone inside. His hands were behind his back and several guns were pointing at him.

"Rex..." Ahsoka choked out.

Realization hit her like a light saber to the chest. Her face grew hot and her eyes began to get misty. The bucket clattered to the ground and the ship flew into the sky.

"Rex!" she screamed tears flowing down her face and mixing with rain drops.

Ahsoka watched helplessly as the ship blasted into the sky. It got farther and farther away until it disappeared completely. Rex had been captured. Ahsoka only could imagine what horrors waited for him.
