《Stupid Sunsets | Anakin Skywalker》CT-1216: Pinup

There were never enough mirrors on Kamino. At least not for CT-1216. Between training sessions, after meals, in the dead of night, this cadet spent every second he could gazing upon his reflection. This particular habit often earned him plenty of teasing. However, no trooper could deny that there was something about this cadet that made him stand out from the rest, even though it was quite subtle. CT-1216 was without a doubt, the handsomest clone around.
Dawn, the unofficial leader of CT-1216's squad, Armani Squad, was wide awake at the crack of... well, you know.
"Rise and shine, boys!" Dawn said rapping the ends of the each of his squad's bunks. The response was a collective groan. Armani Squad was known to be somewhat carefree, but not Dawn. Dawn was the serious one. And it was a good thing too. If it wasn't for Dawn's talent in leadership, Armani Squad may not have made it as far as they did in their training.
The cadets let their bunks slide out and rubbed their eyes. As they all got the sleep out of their system, there was one cadet who remained snuggled in his bunk. Filo who slept next to him, rolled his eyes and pressed the button that made CT-1216's bunk slide out.
"Come on, sleepy head," Filo said shaking him awake.
"Knock it off!" the yet to be named cadet retaliated.
"Oh, Filo," Sticks, short for Sticky, short for Sticky Fingers replied. "You know our little brother needs his beauty sleep."
Filo and Sticks shared an amused grin. Even Red, who was getting dressed, broke into quiet laughter.
Dawn sighed and turned his attention to Sticks. "Make sure he's up in five minutes," he said curtly. "We've got a long day of training ahead of us."
Sticks groaned. "Why me?"
"Cause you're the only one he listens to," Red answered pulling on his gear.

Armani Squad was the first to arrive in the mess hall, as always. The rest of the squads would come filing in as the morning continued. It wasn't long before cadets were milling around in the common area, awaiting orders.
"Hey," Dawn nudged CT-1216. "Will you put on your helmet already?" He asked with frustration lacing his voice.
"We're not training yet," the cadet retorted quietly.
"Yeah, but it won't make us look good in front of the bounty hunters," Filo brought up. "They'll be here any minute now."
CT-1216's hands tightened into fists. "You guys know how much I hate helmet hair," he seethed.
"We're going to war, not a fashion show," Red said grabbing his brother's shoulders. CT-1216 jerked himself out of Red's grasp and stared at him defiantly.
"Guys, stop it!" Sticks said stepping between them.
"Aw, I thought we were about to see pretty boy get into a fight," a clone said walking up to Armani Squad with a sinister smile on his face.
"Kriff," Sticks muttered under his breath. The cadet coming towards them was Spike from Zenith Squad.
Spike stopped in front of CT-1216 and shoved him in the chest, making him stumble backwards. CT-1216 stayed silent. He refused to retaliate in fear of actually getting into a fight.
"Where did all that aggression go, pretty boy?" Spike taunted him and gave him another hard shove.

"Hey, back off!" Red shouted and gripped Spike by the arm, dragging him away. "You stay away from our brother or I'll send you back to your growth tube." Red raised his fist.
Sticks and Filo stood protectively around their brother while Dawn shooed Spike away. Once he left, Dawn approached CT-1216 and looked at him. "You okay?" he asked.
He just nodded in response and looked down sadly. Dawn placed a hand on his shoulder. "Will you put on your helmet now?"
CT-1216 smiled lightly and complied. He slid on his helmet carefully and posed a little for Dawn. The boys laughed and slapped their little brother on the back.

A game of capture the flag with Zenith Squad was underway. Whichever squad got a hold of the other's flag would win the training session and move onto advanced training.
"That flag is so close, I can feel it," Sticks said getting fidgety.
"You'll get your chance, Sticks," Dawn reassured him. He was sat crouched behind a short wall a bit of ways from Sticks. He gauged the scene before him. Two of Zenith's cadets stood guarding the flag and two more were on the move. Spike was nowhere in sight.
"Sticks," Dawn said catching his brother's attention. "You and I will take out those two while 1216 covers us."
CT-1216 let out a muffled whimper. "You should have let me stay on guard duty." He watched the two cadets from Zenith squad slowly moving into their territory. Spike was yet to be spotted.
"Red and Filo are just fine where they are," Dawn countered and got on a knee to adjust his blaster. He glanced up at CT-1216. "All you have to do is cover me and Sticks."
"Fine," CT-1216 muttered and followed after Dawn and Sticks who went in pursuit of the enemy team.
Dawn and Sticks circled behind the two cadets while CT-1216 closed in from the side. He went slowly, making sure to avoid every obstacle that came his way. The last thing he wanted was to trip over a cable and scar his face.
"1216, where are you?!" Sticks screamed quietly into the comms. The sound of blaster fire filled the area.
"I'm on my way!" CT-1216 replied and hurried over.
Over the comms he could hear a sigh from one of his batch mates. "When is he going to learn to pull his own weight?"
"I don't know, but now would be a good time," the other voice answered. "1216 is always the reason we fail."
"He's probably sitting somewhere without his helmet, staring at a shiny surface."
"Well, I hope he wisens up soon. I'd hate for anything to hap-"
"Will you two cut it out!" CT-1216 shouted as he made his way across the field. His eyes stung. "I'm making my way to Dawn and Sticks' position."
Red and Filo kept quiet now and regretted what they had said. CT-1216 could see the two cadets from Zenith Squad now. They were engaged in a firefight with Dawn and Sticks. He raised his blaster and took out one of them. Dawn took the other cadet's shock to his advantage and sent a stun blast his way. CT-1216 jogged over his batch mates.
"Good work," Dawn praised him out of breath. "Now come on," he said gesturing towards Zenith territory. "Let's get that flag."

Sticks bolted into action, but CT-1216 hesitated. Movement behind the simulated debris caught his eye.
"Hold on, I see something," he cautioned Sticks.
Sticks quickly ducked behind some cover and held out his blaster. Dawn did the same. CT-1216 may not always be the most efficient soldier, but his brothers knew he was very perceptive. Nothing could get past CT-1216 without him knowing about it.
CT-1216 trained his eyes on the figure making its way towards Armani Squad's flag. "It's Spike," he confirmed. "Red, Filo. Spike is coming your way."
"Copy that," one of them answered. "We'll take care of him."
Dawn nodded in acknowledgement. "1216 and Sticks on me," he said and the three of them trekked towards the enemy flag.
Spike's plan to quietly take down Red and Filo was foiled because of CT-1216's keen eyesight. Dawn and Sticks made easy work of the two guarding the flag, especially since they had CT-1216's help. In a moment of sheer delight, Sticks got a hold of the flag and waved it proudly. Armani Squad's cheers could be heard echoing across the large room. The brothers met at the doorway and crashed into group hug, slapping each other on the backs. The bounty hunters overseeing the training session congratulated them. Armani Squad would now be moving up in their training. The boys headed towards the common area to relax and bask in their victory.
Red and Filo pulled CT-1216 aside to speak with him.
"Hey," Red started. "Those things we said, it's not true. You're not the reason we fail. You're the reason we won today."
"We just," Filo sighed. "We worry about you. We don't want you to get hurt in a battle one day because you were distracted."
CT-1216 smiled and looked to the side. "It's alright," he said. "I know you guys are just looking out for me."
"Just... don't try seducing any clankers out in the battlefield," Red teased. "I don't think those droids have any taste."
"Yeah, but keep serving those looks, brother," Filo lightly punched CT-1216's shoulder and he grinned.
Red and Filo walked away while CT-1216 sighed contentedly. After that game of capture the flag, he decided it was time to make a stop at the refresher. CT-1216 walked in and grimaced seeing his face glistening with sweat. He turned on the sink and rinsed off his face. Once satisfied, CT-1216 spent some time gazing at himself. He noticed his hair was ruffled in all the wrong ways. With a groan, he ducked under the sink and removed a tile from the refresher's wall. In a small crevice lay the hair gel he kept hidden away. It was Sticks who kept him supplied with the stuff. No one knew how he got it, but his name was Sticky Fingers for a reason.
CT-1216 pulled it out and sat on top of the sink to get closer to the mirror. He sat in strange poses as he tried to get comfortable and opened up the hair gel. He ran it through his neck length hair, fixing it up the way he liked it. He let some strands hang in the front, smiling at himself as he worked.
"Looks like pretty boy has turned into a pinup model."
CT-1216 whipped his head around to see Spike standing at the front of the refresher with the rest of his squad behind him. CT-1216 trembled lightly as he looked at their angry expressions. One of Spike's brothers mumbled something about CT-1216 being the reason they lost the match.
"What do you want?" CT-1216 managed out.
"What do we want?" Spike laughed humorlessly and moved closer. "We just want to give the model a makeover."
CT-1216 slowly slid off the sink. He wanted to leave, but the exit was blocked. He was being cornered.
"Leave me alone!" CT-1216 shouted in hopes someone would hear.
It was no use. Spike grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and slammed him against the wall. CT-1216 let out a grunt.
"This will teach you to stay out of my squad's way," Spike fumed. He landed an uppercut in CT-1216's stomach making him yelp in pain. He tried to fight Spike off him, but he couldn't even breathe. "The next one is one is going to your face."
"HEY!"
Spike turned his head to face the new voice. CT-1216 tilted his head to the side see past his attacker. It was Dawn. The rest of his brothers came running in. As Filo's gaze landed on Spike with CT-1216's shirt clutched in his fist, his eyes went ablaze.
"Get away from our brother!" Filo shouted and sent a packed punch on the first guy he saw. Then it was chaos. Spike was pulled away from CT-1216 and he breathed in relief. It was a mess of bodies in front of him, but CT-1216 was just glad he wasn't going to take a fist to the face. Sticks pushed through the crowd and found his little brother.
"Come on," he said and led him out of the refresher.
The two waited outside for a bit. It wasn't long before Zenith Squad was running out of there. Spike stumbled out with marks all over his face. He stopped for a second upon seeing CT-1216.
"You're just a stupid pinup! That's all you are!"
Dawn came walking out with Red and Filo right behind him.
"Do I need to give you two black eyes?" Red asked sweetly.
Spike froze hearing the threat and sent them all a final glare before dashing out of sight. Dawn approached CT-1216 and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"You alright, brother?"
CT-1216 just smiled. His brothers always had his back, and he would always have theirs. That's all he ever wanted. And... a nice, reflective surface too.
"I'm fine, thanks to you all," CT-1216 smiled gratefully at them. They all returned the smile as they looked at him.
Filo stifled a laugh. "Did Spike call you a... a pinup?" After hearing it out loud, the boys burst into laughter.
"Yeah, he did," CT-1216 let out a chuckle. "It's a good name, isn't it? I'd say it fits me."
The boys looked at each other in shock. Their eyes widened in excitement.
"Did our little brother finally get his name?" Sticks asked in disbelief.
"Yep," he replied. "My name is Pinup now."
The boys yelled at the top of their lungs. They collided against each other in a tight hug, completely crushing Pinup in the middle.
"He finally got his name," Dawn said delighted. "Our little Pinup."
