《Prophesy of the Elven King》Ch. 14 For Goddess Sake

My name was Lucille Einhart, and I was a ghost. One of the most famous in fact and one day I met someone. At first, he and I didn't really get along: we had different points of view about helping people. I believed in giving everything to help someone in need no matter the cost. He, however, felt I was naive and foolish. He believed that if you save someone, you have to save them all the way. He thought it a responsibility to keep protecting the life that is saved. Why feed a homeless person today when they will starve tomorrow? He used the old saying "give a man a fish and feed him for a day but teach him to fish, and you feed him for life."

He had anonymously created a charity to build housing and provide jobs to the homeless. Many of them employed by the program he created. His name was Rick Evets, and he was the man I fell in love with. Hundreds of years I roamed the earth repeating the same actions like a broken record. Then I met this researcher of the soul, and we began our debate of beliefs. One day though he said something that changed my view of him altogether.

We had gotten into an argument of epic proportions, but then he said, "Don't you get it after all you did to save those people they let you die! Then his voice turned gentle, and he mumbled: " You were the one worth saving." I felt my non-existent heartbeat, and I realized that I had been waiting for someone all these centuries. I had been waiting for him, and I found myself broken out of my fog.

I would often come to his house. A beautiful earth ship house as they are called. Half the building is buried underneath earth and sod. The other end of his house that was not earth insulated was a greenhouse. It was also energy efficient he would brag Saying that the glass was bulletproof Lexan and its layers were argon gas filled. It meant little to no heat left or entered the building through the glass.

He had been fortunate to inherit a sizeable wealth from his father and grandfather. Rick's dad had been a geologist that found most of the oil wells in North America before outsourcing to foreign countries. He got to keep a percentage of the value of every well found. His grandfather had just been a famous architect that created several private mansions for the absurdly wealthy. This had allowed Rick to follow his passions and become the expert on the soul. This was also how he had funded his charity and had his expensive house built. The design of which had been his grandfather's secret treasure that he had never built. Some improvement had been made however with the invention of things like argon filed glass panes.

One day he came home later than usual, and he was covered in burns. His left arm had been amputated below the shoulder because it had been burned to the point blood would not circulate properly, and the nerves were dead. I was horrified, but after that, I had convinced him to let me stay in his house to help him recover. I never left that house, after that day I haunted him exclusively.

There was a determination in his eyes I had never seen before. He handled massive amounts of paperwork that I did not understand and before I knew it we had a small child living with us. He had spent a fortune adopting a small boy named Trevor who was no older than five at the time. Trevor had recently lost his mother, and no one knew who his biological father was.

It was the beginning of the happiest times in my existence. At first, the boy had been startled by my presence, but soon I became his favorite person. He even started calling me momma Lucille. I would cook the most wholesome breakfasts and dinners. I would send Trevor off to school with a packed lunch made with love. We were an unorthodox family, but we were happy. We were even happy together when Rick's work was discredited by abusing popular opinion and media. I would spend nights sitting on the couch by the fireplace with him as he read a book. He would often fall asleep here, and I would lay up against him.

A common misconception is that ghosts can faze through people. Inside of a body is a soul and souls cannot pass through each other. Not to mention that a person's aura can also repel souls. Aura is an effect created by the soul's connection to the body. So I would lay up against him watching the firewood crackle at night.

Thirteen years passed and after Trevor went to college, Rick believed he had made progress with his main thesis. He went to relax at a nearby coffee shop as he worked. Hours passed after he should have been home and even using that phone thing people have these days I could not reach him. I went to the coffee shop with a feeling of dread in where a stomach would be if I had had one.

Then I saw it! His lifeless body laying on the ground covered by a tarp as emergency services surrounded the place. I barely noticed them as it felt like my world had ended. I screamed so hard all the glass in every nearby building shattered. I never got to tell him how I felt! I had waited centuries for him only to have him taken away! After everything I gave, why couldn't you let me keep him?

After that Trevor came home on leave from school. Rick's death had also caused a huge wave among legal services when they realized that Trevor would not only inherit everything but was the small child he had lost his arm pulling out of a car fire. Rick had been right next to Trevor's biological mother car when an 18 wheeler pushed her off the road and into a stone bridge. Many people had been around, but only he had acted. Trevor's mom had died in the impact, but Rick broke the glass and pulled the unconscious Trevor out. All the while the flames burst at his left side. He had shielded himself with his left arm.

It didn't surprise me as much as others. I knew that he always showed who he was with actions and not words. He had paid a fortune to break protocol and adopt Trevor. To Trevor, Rick had always been a hero, and he was even more certain of it after knowing the truth.

I always had and will always love Trevor, but I could not remain on earth without Rick. When did that become the case? I wondered. I said my farewells to Trevor as I prepared to risk everything on one of Ricks many theories. The theory that if a ghost was sentient enough, it could change its lingering attachment. A risky theory that could end my existence as I knew it, but I did not care. If wherever he was, he still remembered me and cared for me at all, we could be together again.

Amazingly, it had worked, and I was pulled across space and time and not towards the great beyond I was aware of but to where Rick was. Wherever he was, he still remembered me! I pulled and the tether launching me towards him faster, but when I reached the outskirts of our universe, it felt like a mountain weighed down on me. No matter how hard I tried, I could not move forward. I did not give up however, and I continued to struggle against the impossible. "Please, let me be with him!" I screamed. I felt the weight disappear off of me as something like a blue paper appeared in my vision.

Trait gained [Red String of Fate]

The goddesses of Love and fate have been moved by your determination to be with the man you love. The red string of fate connects you to those you share a bond with and will prevent you from being separated from them against your will.

Goddess of Fate says " We got your back Girlfriend!"

Goddess of Love says " Binding can also be a form of freedom too you know."

If I could blush, I would have turned red at that last statement. I had accidentally seen something like that when I used the thing Rick called the internet. I destroyed the computer out of embarrassment because I could not figure out how to close the window and I could not let him think I was looking at that.

I flew to the woods of an undeveloped world. There I saw a baby with golden eyes and immediately I knew it was Rick. He was looking right at me, but due to my soul being compressed for travel he could not recognize me. I noticed a beautiful elven woman standing nearby, and I could tell that she was pregnant, but the child had no soul. As such it would be stillborn unless a soul entered it. It was perfect almost like he had made it for me, but I was reluctant to take the body without permission. Another prompt appeared assuring me to do just that.

Goddess of Fate says, " Take it! This vessel will allow you to be with him and [Red String of Fate] will allow you to communicate with her. I know she will be fine with it, just tell her your story."

I trusted in her and entered the fetus. Over the next couple of days, my new mother and I chatted, and I told her everything. She had been moved by what I had been through. Even to an Elf, hundreds of years was a long time to wait for love only to have it taken away. She had cried when I told her some parts. Rick, who was now called Juren had not noticed as he thought that was normal for a victim to do. She had promised to do everything in her power to help and was happy to be a part of some prophesy it turned out.
