《The Immortals》Selfish

Julie was pacing back and forth in the hall of the Mikaelsons' house, glancing at the front door every minute, waiting for it to open. Dark thoughts came to her mind; what if Esther was successful tonight? Her mind was trapped in a nightmare, in a world where Elijah no longer existed and she was alone again.
An hour had passed and still, she was alone. The silence was like torture. She checked her phone but there was no messages. She tried to call Rebekah but she didn't answer. She wanted to call Elijah, to hear his voice, but she thought, if he was fighting against his mother, it was best not to distract him. It was best just to wait.
Finally, the door opened. As her heart jumped in her chest, she hoped to see Elijah but she met with the blonde instead.
"Rebekah," she breathed out.
"I let her go," she sighed, looking down, exhausted and hurt.
"Have you heard from Elijah?"
"Mother and Finn are gone," she nodded. "He'll be here soon."
Julie sighed, relieved, but the knot in her stomach didn't go away. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," she mumbled before she walked away. Julie watched her leave and she couldn't help the feeling of guilt grow inside her. She wished there was something she could do but she knew there was no way she could make any of the Original vampires feel better.
When Elijah stepped inside the house Julie saw the disappointment and the pain on his face. He was followed by Klaus and Kol who weren't any better.
"Oh, Elijah," she breathed out before she hugged him. "I'm so sorry," she whispered. He hugged her back without a word. She hugged him tight before she moved away.

"How are you?"
"I'm fine," he lied. She took his face in her hands and made him look at her.
"What happened?"
He sighed. "Damon turned Bonnie's mother into a vampire. My mother couldn't use their magic anymore. They've fled."
"They're gone? They won't stop before you're dead," she said.
"I know," he sighed. "Niklaus will find a way to unlink us," he told her. He took her hands and looked down. "Julie...I'm..."
"What?" she frowned "What's wrong?"
"I want to leave this town," he said. "Do you still want to come with me?"
"Of course," she nodded. "Of course." She hugged him again and placed a kiss in his neck. "I'd go anywhere with you."
He smiled and placed a kiss in her hair. "Please, pack up your things."
"...We're leaving now?"
"Today I've threatened an innocent girl to get what I wanted."
"Elena killed you twice! She's far from innocent!"
"Julie..." he sighed and shook his head. "I'm incredibly selfish," he said which confused her.
"What?"
"I'm not good for you," he said, looking up. "My mother is right. I'm a monster. I should leave you and never turn back." Julie's heart felt like it was being crushed. It was the most painful feeling she had ever felt. She was tearing up, terrified. "But I can't do that. I'm not strong enough to leave you. And for that, I am selfish. Because you'll get hurt because of..."
"Stop it!" Julie shouted, wiping a tear of her cheek. "Stop it..." she sobbed before she threw her arms around him and buried her face in his neck. "You can't leave me," she cried. "You're all I have." Elijah closed his eyes, hugging her back tightly, burying his nose in her hair. She hugged him tight, afraid she would lose him.

"Are you sure you want to leave Mystic Falls?" he asked.
"Yes," she answered. "What is there here for me?"
Elijah placed a kiss in her hair before he moved away. "Please, pack your things. I will be back in less than an hour." She nodded and closed her eyes when he leant to kiss her forehead. She watched him walk away and gave him a small smile and waved before he stepped out of the house. She sniffed, wiped the tears off her cheeks and left the hall.

A Nation of Distances (possibly a dystopian love story)
Michael lives in a toxic macho world with extreme male hierarchy. When he gets a weird rating that makes his place even more problematic he's forced to choose a fiancée at a Wife School, and he slowly discovers more about the other side of the great divide between the sexes in The Nation. If only the world would stop being so complicated... On the other side there's Megan, who's more interested in books than in marriage, and the unpredictable Eliza who seems to have a connection with Micheal already. Will they be able to cross the distance and become friends against all the rules of their own world, or will they just be crushed? Are positive relationships between men and women even possible? And is there a way to change the world or is that just a naive thought of a silly wimp? 'A Nation of Distances' is a slightly dystopian dialogue-heavy drama set in a low sci-fi future setting about the war between the sexes, disconnect and friendship. The genre will fluctuate in between more slice-of-life parts and soft sci-fi drama with possible romantic elements, with alternating lead and switching perspectives once more of the main characters are established. Content Warning: Certain concepts and scenes might be disturbing and/or triggering to some, even though the story itself won't be extremely heavy most of the time. Sexism as a double-edged sword destructive to both sexes is an important part of the story, but so is friendship.Note that all descriptions of persons and places are purely fictional and made up by the writer, and any resemblance with anything in the real world is a coincidence, since the real world is not supposed to be dystopian anyway!

Campaign: A Project Starfarer Sidestory
This novel’s lore, story and characters are entirely fictitious. Certain long-standing countries, institutions, organizations, agencies, and public offices are mentioned, but their histories and the characters involved are wholly imaginary. "What will you do with your freedom?"Growing up in a meritocracy, infamous for being lawless, Jordan Astros had been repeatedly asked this question, since times unmemorable. In a society where one's accomplishments and skills were tallied and ranked in order to determine one's standard of living however, Jordan quickly grew to understand that 'freedom,' was a reward earned by accumulating Merit. And so, after his 17th birthday, Jordan departed his Clan's habitat in orbit of Europa to embark on his century-long journey to rise from E-Ranker to S-Rank. And spread his name throughout the Galilean Powers. *** Campaign is a sidestory within its NanoPunk parent series, Project Starfarer. (Yet to be published. Be on the lookout for it!) In which the first transhuman known to humanity, the Starfarer, invokes a plan to seed terrestrial life throughout the galaxy. Campaign takes place around the middle of that timeline and explores the life of a key figure in that universe, Jordan Astros. And explores one of four great nations thriving in the Solar System during that time. A Meritocracy that spans Jupiter and its 79 moons, The Galilean Powers. What you'll find in Campaign: Brutal melee combat in airless and pressurized low gravity environments. A technology based progression system influenced by merit and accomplishments; using tech that's theoretically possible to exist in the near-future. An exploratory perspective of the dozens of Galilean societies, or 'Powers,' from Jordans; and sometimes others', POV. What you wont find: Romance. Harems. An MC who receives shortcuts, handouts, learns things unnaturally fast or has OP plot armor. Jordan is not a special individual. Jordan is not OP and he likely never will be. He's no different than any other citizen in the Galilean Powers and will certainly face as many defeats as he does wins. He'll suffer losses and grow as an individual, while the Powers evolves around him as well. This is semi-hard sci-fi/NanoPunk and takes place in a fictional version of our future solar system. Centered around technology that's plausible in the near-centuries to come. Everything abides by the laws of physics/thermodynamics (As best that I understand them, at least. I'm no scientist.) No artificial gravity, inertial dampeners, teleportation, FTL, or hand-wavy materials will be found in the Project Starfarer universe. Just advanced automation, nanotechnology, cybernetics and AI. Set in the backdrop of space. *I do not own the photo used for the cover*
