《Home | The Originals》Chapter 56: Her Sacrifice

Me and Hayley walked into the room Klaus was in. He was spending time with Hope when we walked in. I held my arm out holding onto a small book with a pen inside so he can write his wish. "Here." I said then I placed the book onto the table in front of him.
"I'm holding a small child, Nix. The silly wish game will have to wait." Nik said as he looks back at Hope.
"That's why I brought Hayley with me." I said with a victory smile. He wasn't going to escape this tradition.
"You write, I'll hold." Hayley said making Nik look up at me.
"You do realize it is not I who is to be the husband you can boss around." Nik said.
He wants to go there, huh? "You do realize Hayley had to endure horrendous labor and actual death birthing the child that you hold. I also had to endure horrendous labor birthing 6 children that are in the other room." I said.
Nik glances up with a smirk on his face before sighing in defeat. "Fine." He hands Hope to Hayley and started to write on a piece of paper. "I wish Hayley would tell Elijah you're marrying your werewolf suitor at which point I will pour him a scotch and congratulate him on the bullet he dodged." Nik read out loud.
He ripped the paper and handed it to Hayley with an innocent smile on his face while she stares at him with a blank face. Hayley snatched the paper out his hands balled it up into her fist then threw it on the ground and then she left the room.
I look back at Nik who was smiling at Hayley's departure. I sped behind him and slapped the back of his head. "Ow." He yelled out as he rubs the spot I hit him on.

"That wasn't funny." I told him but all he did was pull me onto his lap and buried his head into my neck

Nik threw a lit match into the pile of sticks while me, Hayley, Hope and my kids, and Elijah watch the fire pit go up in flames.
"Hey, look what I found." Rebekah said with a big smile on her face as she walks towards us with a camera that prints the photo out. "I wonder if it'll work."
"Oh, bloody hell." Nik said turning to stare out into the horizon with his hands on his hips. This comment makes me laugh for a bit. He really doesn't like this tradition.
"Come on, let's try. Hey, Nik, do you think you can cram us into a selfie?" Rebekah asked her brother as she walks up to him.
Elijah followed after her. "Well, Klaus is the virtuoso of cramming his siblings into confined spaces." Elijah said making me and Hayley laugh out loud.
"I'm so glad I traveled hundreds of miles to visit my mentally ill brother only to have him insult me to my face." Nik said mockingly.
"Come on, just take the picture." Rebekah said.
Klaus held up the picture up and all of us smiled except for him. The flash goes off and a photo is coming out of it.
"See? I wish that it could always be like this." Rebekah said as she looks over Nik's shoulder to stare down the picture.
"If wishes were horses..." Elijah said. "Beggars would ride." Nik finished.
I look down at the photo. "You could have smiled more Nik. You look dull and you don't want to be here at all." I said making everyone laugh.

Nik swings his leg behind mine making me fall on my back. Everyone was laughing at our bickering. "Rude." I said to him as Rebekah helps me up.
"You realize we'll have to burn it. You want me to make a wish for the family, Rebekah. I wish it didn't have to be like this, but it does." Nik said and that makes all of our smile disappear. Nik hands the photo to Hayley. "We can't risk it falling into the wrong hands."
Hayley takes the picture and throws it into the fire with a sad face. "No, this isn't right. We deserve this. We've earned this." Rebekah said.
"You guys shouldn't have to pay the price of someone else's actions. It's not fair." I said.
"I know what to do to stop Esther." Rebekah said.
"Rebekah, no." Elijah denied already knowing what she is about to do.
"I'm going to take her deal. And when I do, I'm taking her down with me."
