《Home | The Originals》Chapter 34: No Mercy

I woke up to someone groaning right next to me. I flutter my eyes open to see I'm in a room and laying on someone's bed. "A wonderful skill that I shall be counting on very shortly." I hear Elijah say. I groan as I still feel pain in my neck and then I try to move myself off the bed but I ended up yelling in pain. I looked down to see two wooden stakes in my stomach. Elijah and Cami look in my direction. "You see, Niklaus and Phoenix will be weak as they recover. So watch over them and feed them if you would but slowly, please, and from your wrist." He told Cami.
"Don't you guys have bags of blood in storage?" Cami I asked him.
"We do, but your blood is laced with vervain. So it will burn them. They'll ingest it slower. Perhaps you could use the time constructively, persuade them not to murder Rebekah." Elijah said.
I was still raging. Elijah will not stop me from avenging my daughter. And if I have to kill him to get to Rebekah, then so be it. Elijah leaned over Nik. "Niklaus... it was not my desire to bring you pain, either of you, but I will not see you hurt Rebekah." Elijah said but Nik didn't say anything he just stares up at the ceiling. "Now, I fear Sabine may be making a final move against us. I intend to find her and to end this."
"Elijah," Nik whispered out. His voice was barely audible and it sounded like he was dying. "You will pay for this." Nik said.
"Mark my words, Elijah. If I have to go through you to get to Rebekah and Marcel, then so be it." I threatened him and he just left the room.

"Wow, things I never thought I'd be doing— feeding vampires." Cami said as she roles her sleeve up and held her wrist in front of me.
"Move your bloody wrist away from me. I do not want any of your vervain infested blood anywhere near my mouth." I said and she moves her wrist to Nik's mouth.
"16-year-old self would think I'm really cool right now." Cami said. Nik grabbed her arm and bit into her wrist. "Ah! Slow down. Ok. Doesn't the vervain burn?" She asked as Nik pulls away from her wrist.
"As you may have yet to realize, Cami, the line between what brings us pain and what sustains is far thinner than one imagines." Nik said and his voice was extremely dry.
"You talking about my blood or your need to hunt down the people you love the most?" Cami asked.
"I'm too weak for one of your talks right now." Nik said.
"She's your sister. How can you hate her? How can either of you hate her?" She asked us.
"Because she has done what no else has managed to do to us for 1,000 years— she ripped our hearts out." I said and Nik told us his memory of giving Rebekah and Marcel the okay to be together finally.
I used all of my strength to grab the stake and yank it out of my body. I yelled out in pain for a few second before I calmed down and watch as I heal. I did the same thing again for the last stake, then I layed in the bed for a while so I can recover.
I got out the bed and dragged myself into Nik's room where I had stashed some extra clothing.

I sped out of the abattoir and grabbed a random woman off the street. We went to an alleyway were I proceeded to bite into her neck drinking her blood. I hear a whoosh come near me and I pull away to see Nik standing behind the woman. He didn't really ask if I wanted to share her, he just went to the other side of her neck and bit into her. I also went to bite in her neck again and we drink her blood very quickly.
"What are you doing?" I hear Cami say behind us.
Me and Nik pull away from the human and drop her body to the ground. "Do you really have to ask us when you know what we are about to do?" I said to her.
"We're going to kill my sister, but first, I needed some substance with a little less vervain in it, no offense." Klaus said.
"When Davina showed me all you did to me, all you took from me, I wanted to kill you. I even thought about burying that blade in you like the witches asked me to, but I didn't. I stopped. I thought. I weighed the good I see in you versus the horrible things I know you've done, and I realized if I hurt you, I'd be filled with terrible regret. You will, too, if you hurt your sister, your sister, Klaus. As a person who has lost a sibling, who has felt that pain, you won't survive if you're the one who kills her." Cami preached to Nik.
I stepped up beside Klaus to look at Cami. "Quit acting like you are the only one who got their freedom taken from them when compelled. You are not the only person Klaus compelled to help him out. So move on from your hatred because it's starting to get old. And you talk about how Nik will be hurt if he kills his sister well it too late. Rebekah already tried that and caused them to lose their home here. She also caused me to lose a daughter. Even if Klaus doesn't kill Rebekah, what that to stop me from killing her too. My daughter will not die because of someone else mistakes and Rebekah will pay with her life from taking her from me." I yelled back.
"You can't spend the rest of your life hunting down and terrorizing Rebekah and Marcel. You'll both become just like Mikael." Cami said.
"I've been called every shade of monster, but that's new. My father? Mikael was the monster monsters were afraid of." Nik said.
"And let me show you exactly what Mikael did at the opera." I told her and held both my hands on her head and showed her my memory of what happened at the opera.
I move my hands away from her head as she stares at me with horror. "That is what Mikael took from me." I said.
Nik grabbed her by he arm. "I assure you, Camille, we will not terrorize my sister and her lover for centuries. Nor will we humiliate and torment or dehumanize them. No, none of that. We will simply and quickly end them." Nik said and we vamp speed away from her.

Life of a Core
After a disembodied voice had told him he was what amounted to an exceptionally talented rock, it had been hard to not let it go to his non-existent head. Until, random chance had decided to give him a square kick in the minerals. Which had in turn forced him to fend for himself in an unknown land, all while he attempted to make sense of his place in the world. Truthfully though, all he had really wanted to do from the start had been to bury himself a hundred feet below the ground and be left to his own devices. Yet, for one reason or another, nobody ever seemed willing to leave the dungeon-building core alone long enough to actually make one. Each chapter will average around two to three thousand words, the release schedule is still a WIP but you should expect the first six chapters to be released over the next six days. This is planned out as a dungeon building fiction, but don't expect it right off the bat! The story is a depiction of the everyday adventures (alongside an overarching plot) of what I imagine a dungeon core would experience when thrust into a random environment where everything and everyone tried to covet or eat him. I also really enjoy reading the comments and reviews people leave and would love to get some reader involvement with the story itself, likely through polls at the end of each chapter. I hope you enjoy my story! (If you feel like some of the characters seem familiar, you may have read some older work I wrote a while back under a different account. If you happen to be one of my old readers and recognize the similarities, I'm happy to have you back!)

Cursebreaker
I'm not writing this anymore unfortunately, and I probably won't ever continue it. I guess writing is more difficult than I thought Reto Mason woke up on a mountain, and it was all downhill from there. Until they hit floor, at which point I'm surprised they didn't die to be honest. That is, they didn't die yet. We'll see what happens This is a LitRPG which does have levels and stats, but is more focused on Accomplishments, although expect some more classic RPG stuff in the future. The main focus is on skills, and skill modification/evolution in that regard. Expect some weird 4th dimension stuff eventually, and the weird things that come from there.

Malheur aux vaincus - Short stories
I am a reader, not a writer. But in the spirit of contributing to the trove of texts present here, I hope to share some short stories that I wrote: two in French in a Roman Fantasy setting ; and the rest in English: one inspired by manichean webnovels, another one... difficult to classify as a fiction, a little flight of fancy about the 'What if?' game, and last even two poems.

Dungeon core shenanigans
Our protagonist lived his life normaly, had a PhD in physics and some problemes. Nothing too out of what can be considered common. At least until he died. After his death, he comes to himself as some breathing sphere. While still himself, he forgot a good part of his memories, he kept various parts of his knowledge, but it is obvious he was impacted mentaly. Now we follow his actions and their consequences in a brand new world where he causes mayhem and panic without meaning to. Will he stabilise and be a new kind of dungeon? Or will he just continue being a mess of thoughts and doing atrocities without realising it? I have stopped writing this story, it was one for me to train, and I have much to work on. I don't plan to resume it, but if I do, then I will rewrite it from the begining.
