《The Villainess's Great Revenge》20

"...." Angelina was silent but in her heart she was mocking the idea of liking him...again
'pfft...that bastard? Why would I be interested in the man that played a big part on my death!?'
"I don't know him well" Angelina faked an excuse to avoid the question
"....he seems nice though miss" Marie was a little confused. To her, Chase was the ideal fiance candidate. He was smart, talented, good looking, high status, and seems like a gentleman.
"Well no one's perfect Marie"
"True..."
Angelina sighed and messaged her temples. Marie was kinda like her old self. They both thought Chase was the closest thing to perfection.
Marie left to go to bed and Angelina also went to bed. Angelina laid down on the bed, staring at her bedroom ceiling.
The room was silent and had a little creepy atmosphere. The halls were also quiet exept for some footsteps of the servants.
Angelina had been trying not to think about this, but this question had always haunted her. Why were everyone so sure she really tried to kill Evelina?
Even the emperor who was like a second father to her believed the accusations. The Bailey family was always full of pride. They would do anything to protect their family name. So her (Lilith) trial would be extremely humiliating. They would normally try to defend her and deny the accusations. But instead they also believed the accusations and abandoned her.
During the trial, Lilith was too confused to focus. She was suddenly arrested without an explanation, brought to trial in front of all the nobles, and was sentenced to death.
She felt so helpless.
At that time even if she tried to deny the claims, they all would probably ignore her. She didn't even know what happened, so how was she supposed to defend herself!?

She recalled the scene.
She was kneeling, wearing rags, and her appearance was extremely dirty and messy. Her arms were tied behind her back and all eyes were on her.
They accused her of countless unspeakable crimes. She tried to speak but her mouth couldn't make a sound. Her voice was drowned out by other's voices.
Even though the nobles witnessing the trial were whispering, she could here them clearly.
"I didn't know she could do such a thing..."
"How cruel and evil.."
"Ha! I think she deserves this! That's what she gets for always being so arrogant!"
"Looks like...for once...Lilith Bailey is losing"
"Honestly im not too suprised. She's always been an obsessive hag!"
"To think I used to follow her! I'm so ashamed!"
"Lady Evelina didn't deserve such cruelty!"
"What a witch!"
"If we keep her alive.. she'll probably be he end of us all!"
"Hmph! Whatever I never liked her anyway!"
"She think she's better than us just cause she has a better brain and face than us!"
"What a b*tch!"
Her eyes seem to turn darker as she stared at the ceiling. Those words clouded her mind. For a couple of seconds, she could only hear their voices. Every word stabbed her heart.
It was true she was arrogant and spoiled, but instead of talking behind her back, why couldn't they just tell her when she was wrong?
Maybe thing wouldn't have ended the way it did.
Maybe she didn't have to suffer being burned alive.
Sometimes she could still feel her skin burning.
When she was being burned, no one showed a slight but if sympathy. The last thing she saw was Chase's cold expression, and Evelina holding back her laughter.
"....."

She no longer want to think about this and she closed her eyes as she tried to call asleep.
But instead of a peaceful slumber, she had a terrifying nightmare instead.
For some reason she couldn't stop running. She was panting and people were chasing her. But she couldn't turn her head to look back.
She was wearing a long gown and eventually she tripped in her dress and fell. She tried to immediately get up but realized her ankle was injured.
But she still tried to get up. She tried to run but because of her injured ankle she could only walk in a weird manner.
Eventually someone grabbed her arm and pulled her back.
Than the arms grabbing her changed into chains. The chain rapped around her arm and more chains started to appear.
She tried to break free but she couldn't.
Then she saw a familiar lady walking to her holding a man's hand.
It was Evelina and Chase.
"Hehehe" Evelina was laughing and Chase merely looked at her coldly
Angelina tried to scream at them but nothing came out of her mouth.
Then a familiar and terrifying sensation overtook her body. She was being burned again.
She gritted her teeth and but her lip so hard it started bleeding. Then she let out a smile with the bleeding mouth of her's and all the life seems to fade out her eyes.
Angelina broke out in cold sweat.
"Hah!"
She got up immediately and checked her surroundings.
She sighed in relief.
Then she look at the maid who seemed surprised.
Marie was just about to wake her up when Angelina got up.
"Oh my god! Miss you scared me!"
"Huh..? Oh..sorry.."
"Miss did you have a nightmare? Your face is pale.."
"Yeah..I'm fine though"
Angelina suddenly hugged Marie and leaned her head on Marie's shoulders
"Miss?" Marie hugged her back.
"Did your nightmare spook you?"
"... yeah"
"Just let me hug you for a bit Marie...I need to calm down" Angelina's heart was beating incredibly fast.
But hugging Marie seemed to calm her down a little.
Eventually Angelina let go
"Tell my mother I won't be joining her for breakfast. Im not feeling well"
"Yes miss" Marie left the room
Angelina got up and went to the mirror. She again sighed in relief.
In the mirror showed a beautiful angelic girl with silver hair and gold eyes.
She went back to lay on the bed. She was still very tired so she decided to sleep a little more.

Welcome to the Upward Bound System, V.2
Technically abandoned. I will be reposting an updated version of the story one chapter at a time. When the System came to Earth, it changed everything. It is a grand thing used by gods and men alike. What had once been fantasy was now a reality. People believed and so that belief gave ideas the strength to manifest. "Welcome Founder of the SCP Foundation" It stirred the gods from their deathly slumbers. Stirred by an almost mechanical voice promising them new life, and followers as countless as the stars. All it asked of them was for their help. Help with what though? The old gods, the forgotten gods, and the new gods drew breath, and then made their voices heard. On a day like any other Dante was home from college watching the Presidential inauguration with his parents. Little did they know that this day would turn out to be anything but ordinary. That this was the day everything changed. Dante is not your typical MC. While he has a troubled past, he looks forward to the future. Follow Dante, his parents, and the new friends he meets along the way as they traverse this new system world. However, before they can explore this new world they must complete, the Tutorial. (Please note: This tutorial will be part of the story. Rather than a skim of the information, you will get to experience it in depth. So the tutorial will last a good while.) A much slower style of LitRpg than what you would normally find. Follow Dante and his party as they find their world taken over by the system. Welcome people of Earth to the Upward Bound System!... With the system's arrival so too does great danger come... The tools of your survival shall be granted upon you by the system... Please note, I don't own the art. Please enjoy the story, and if you don't please leave a comment and I will try to improve the story for you. This is the second version of this story, so feel free to check out the original and compare the two.

Art of Mortality
New Synopsis after chapter 56: Long long ago, there was a mortal who despised the gods and envied the immortals. Why do the mortals have to die when the gods wish them to? Why do worlds have to perish when the gods say so? Why do only immortals get to live forever, why not mortals like him? As his family, friends, and his loved one died, he lamented. He wailed, he cried. He cursed the immortals, blasphemed the gods, spat at the heavens. But he was just a mere mortal. His curses were pointless, his blasphemous words were useless, and his spits only returned back to fall on his face. At last, he thought, enough was enough, he would definitely do something about it. He decided that it was time for the multiverse to know what a mortal can do. He was the first mortal to cultivate. Eventually, after a long struggle, he killed the Immortals, enslaved the Gods, and shattered the heavens. He reshaped the multiverse and rewrote his fate. In the end, he reincarnated as he decided upon a grand scheme, a scheme to rule 'All and Always'. He came up with the concept of what is known today as 'Paragon'. And with this, all of reality, 'All and Always', was finally reforming, according to a Mortal's Wish. Synopsis (Old): In the vast and complex multiverse, what can a mortal accomplish? In the grand scheme of things, what can a mortal change? In truth, what is a mortal, and what is mortality? Being mortal is being ordinary, the same as being trash, or so says The World. "No, mortality is an art, and a true mortal is a grand artist. Being the root of all, a mortal can become anything.", says a young mortal boy. Meet Edward Alexander, a mortal boy walking the path against gods and immortals, fighting to the end to rewrite his destiny, and change the grand scheme of things. Can he really change the grand scheme of things? Or maybe he himself is the Grand Schemer? To know the answer, follow Edward Alexnder on his journey to demonstrate the Art of Mortality.*******
