《Chubs | KSJ》Bonding or Just Trying to Escape Two Idiots?

I sit quietly, watching the customers as Namjoon explains the same thing to Jungkook for the 3rd time.

".........Pardon?" Jungkook replies to Joon, probably the only thing he actually knows in English. Joon steams, breathing out his nose in attempts to stay calm.

Now he knows how I feel. I smile contently. No regret or pity. What. So. Ever.

"I'm going to the bathroom." Namjoon storms away, Jungkook obliviously goes back to writing sentences.

"Momo, is this right?" Kook says pointing to one of the sentences. "I feel like there's something wrong with it."

I look over at it and raise my eyebrows, flabbergasted to how incoherent his writing is.

"Wait a second, lemme see that." I grab it from his hands. Squinting, I try to focus my eyes on the scribbles. Like an old lady with bifocals trying read the fine print, it proves to be nearly impossible.

My leest favorite subject in Skool is meth. I hate meth.

I chuckle"Uhh,... technically there's nothing wrong with it, or at least I hope it's true but, your spelling is wrong."

Jungkook takes it back and looks it over, sucking in air as he tilts his head in concentration. "No,..." he furrows his brows "that's not it."

I glare at him.

"Hey Namjoon hyung," He calls as Joon walks back over. "Can you revise this?"

Joon looks over the sentence "ah, your spelling is wrong." he says, handing it back.

Jungkook brightly smiles "Oh! thanks hyung!!"

"Are you kidding me right now? Boi you better check yourself" I scold him, giving him crazy eyes to show I don't mess around.

"Hey, it's not my fault I trust him more than you, he's smarter." Sass-a-frass Jungkook snarks, glaring at me in protection of his idol.

"oh whatever" I roll my eyes

"He. Is."

"prove it then."

"Go on hyung," JK nudges Joon's side" Say something smart."

Nam smiles as if he's been waiting for this opportunity all day.

"Did you know you can spell candy with just two letters?" He looks between us, unexpectedly. We stare back, thoughtless." C and Y" he throws up his hands in the air like he's the bomb, waiting for a round of applause. But, there's only silence.

"That's stupid" I say.

"That's the smartest thing I've heard all day." Jungkook eyes twinkle at him in admiration.

I shoot daggers at Jungkook.

This boy is about to get the beating of his lifetime.

A young, pretty lady walks up to the counter and puts her stuff at Namjoon's register. She was dressed fairly modestly yet still managed to look sexier than I'll ever be.

She looks expectantly at Namjoon, waiting for him to scan her items. But Joon just stares at her, unmoving, too nervous by her good looks to even do his job properly.

"uhmm-"the girl nervously messes with her sleeves, looking around for help.

Idoit males.

"I can take you over here" I smile at her. "He's having some technical difficulties currently."

"a-ah" she looks over to me, nodding "I see, thank you"

I ring up her stuff and make pleasant conversation, telling her to have a good day as she exits.

Namjoon sighs, creepily watching her until she gets in her car and zooms off"How do I get girls to like me?" He thinks out loud.

"Dump a bucket of glitter on you and stand in the sunlight, they'll come running." Jungkook replies immediately.

"What?" Namjoon turns to him, baffled "No Jungkook, no."

"Then grow a pair and talk to them." I reply immediately after. Jungkook points to me, nodding his head in agreement with me.

Just then the door dings and in walks Jin.

"Hi Namjoon, Jungkook." He greets them then looks at me " Momo"

"Hello" the boys reply, bowing.

I stand, too shocked for a second to do anything but then quickly bow. He warmly smiles at me and walks over to the refrigerators. My eyes follow him, wide and hesitant.

"Grow a pair" Namjoon whispers and pushes me out from the counter.

Kookie watches, confused to what was going on "huh?"

We ignore him. This was a conversation for the adults. Joon sends death threats through his eyes, shooing me to go talk to Jin.

I groan, swatting away his presence. But with a final push from Namjoon, I give in and go walk towards Jin.

Why am I doing this? I don't even have anything to say! this is gonna be so awkward!

Slowly, I walk up next to him as he eyes through the kimbap. He notices, glancing at me.

"Hey Jin" I greet.

"Hey Momo. Hungry?" He asks casually, looking back over the food options.

"hm? why you ask?" I say, brows raised.

"I see you eying my food like a little vulture." Jin imitates a vulture with his arms out like wings, flying around then he tsks, shaking his finger at me.

"No,no really I'm not." I shake my head

" It's okay, I was gonna buy food for the poor college student anyways." he shrugs

I laugh, noticing the two peach milks in his hand and thank him.

Without another thought, he grabs four kimbaps and a kimchi packet.

"How old are you by the way? I don't want to keep calling you by name if you're older." I ask, still curious about the catfish theory.

"I'm 24. You?"

dang, guess he's not an old man. Would've made a great story.

"Oh, I'm 24 too."

"hm,.." Jin nods, " you should call me oppa anyways." he says waving a Kimbap at me.

"What?" I scrunch up my face "No, we're the same age, I'm not feeding into some weird oppa fetish"

"YAH!" he waves the Kimbap more violently at me "I"m buying you food all the time, from the kindness of my heart, without compensation then I ask one thing of you, and this is how you repay me?!"

Even though he's pretty young, his mannerisms remind me of an angry old man.

I laugh "I'm not saying it." I continue to refuse.

"Fine!" Jin swats at me. "Repay me a different way."

My mind instantly jumps to the gutter. I look cautiously at him "..how?"

Please don't be a weirdo.

"Eat with me." He asks apprehensively, holding up the food.

I smile, relieved it wasn't something crazy. "Why? "

"It tastes better eating with company, plus I'm sure you could use a break from those two idiots." Jin points his head towards the two boys. Namjoon hit Jungkook on the neck scolding him, probably fed up with him. Jungkook takes his notebook and starts beating Namjoon back. He cowers in defeat.

"Well, you aren't wrong about that." I sigh "sure, I'll eat with you. It's the least I can do, since you're buying it for me."

I follow Jin over to the counter and he pays for the food. We ignore the boys as Joon grabs the notebook away from JK, accidentally tearing the pages out. Jungkook glares at him, yells then hits him with his bare hands as punishment.

"Joon, I'm going on break" I call and follow Jin to the sitting area.

The two stop fighting and watch in shock. Joon smiles and whistles quietly.

"Is there something I'm missing here?" Jungkook askes Namjoon.

We sit down and Jin slides me two kimbaps and a milk.

A feeling of guilt rises in me, he's spending money on me without reason. Heck, I barely even know more than his name.

"I'm okay with just one" I refuse, sliding one kimbap back to him.

He looks at me, slightly hurt and confused "Why? I bought it for you, do you not like it? "

"It's just that I'm on a diet." I give a fake excuse.

He scowls at me "Yaahh! you don't need to go on a diet! you're skin and bones! plus, delicious things don't have calories." He sweetly smiles at me.

haha, so cute! How could you say no to that?

I point a finger at him, smiling " I like the way you think!" I grab the kimbap back and unwrap them as Jin happily takes a bite of his.

Man, I can't even keep a fake diet.

I take a bite, smiling at the taste. I quickly take a couple more bites, giving in to my pig like desires.

Jin chuckles at me. He puts down his kimbap and opens the kimchi packet. Noticing, I stand and grab two chopsticks, handing one to Jin.

"Oh, thanks" Jin breaks his and eats a piece of kimchi. I do the same.

"Try eating it with the Kimbap like this." Jin puts a piece of the kimchi on top of the kimbap and takes a bite altogether.

I nod, impressed and intrigued. I follow his instructions and take a bite.

"oooooo" I give a thumbs up, chewing the marvelous mouthful."Yah, you sir, know how to eat" I lightly applaud the master.

He laughs, bashfully waving me off. I laugh with him and take another bite with kimchi.

"So, what do you do besides work?" He asks me.

"Uh, on weekdays I go to school beforehand, and then I come straight here. Usually on weekends I stay home and do school work but lately, I've just been working."

"What are you majoring in?" He asks

"Art, studio art." I open my peach milk, taking a sip.

Jin's eyes widen "Wow, that's a pretty time consuming major. Now I know why you're always hungry, do you even get time to eat proper meals?" Jin grabs a napkin.

"Eh, not really. Just when I get home for dinner."

Jin hands me the napkin,I say a quick thank you. He doesn't say anything back, still chewing.

"What major are you?" I ask him, not really wanting to get to close into my financial situation.

He swallows and shrugs "I'm minoring in business, my dad wants me to take over his company. That's not really my cup of tea though so, I'm majoring in culinary arts."

"Really?!" I ask, impressed. He nods "Can I try some time?"

He nods and opens his second Kimbap. "Sure. You're working tomorrow right?"

I nod "2:30-8:30"

"I'll bring something before I go to class tomorrow." He takes a drink.

"For real!?"

He nods again with a small smile over my excitement.

"No take backsies!" I yell, holding out my pinkie."Promise?"

He puts down his drink. "aigoo, aigoo" Jin wraps his pinkie around mine. "I promise."

With our promise complete, Jin leans back in his chair" I feel like I'm being used for food." He takes a bite.

"Oh you definitely are" I vigorously nod my head, taking a sip of my drink.

He busts up laughing, lightly choking on his food.

I laugh at his wiper laugh as he holds a hand in front of his mouth, trying to keep the food from falling out.

"Yah, this is is a beautiful start to a beautiful friendship." Jin wipes a tear.

"I see it more as parasitism."

"Welcome young children."

Joon walks in, stands in front of a chalkboard, yellow pointer stick in hand.

" Some of you may not remember biology class so you might be a bit confused in regards to the last joke made by Momo. So, allow me to enlighten you."

He points to the definition on the board.

"Parasitism: a symbiotic relationship between two organisms in which one benefits while the other suffers. EX: mosquitoes and humans."

"You see, Momo's joke was actually quite humorous. By saying their blooming relationship was more of parasitism than a friendship, she further emphasized that she was only using Jin to get food. She is gaining food, an essential part of life, while Jin is losing money, another essential part of life."

He points to the definition again, accidentally breaking the pointer. He ignores it and continues as if nothing happened.

"They have a parasitic relationship."

Zooms in on his face

Joon forcefully smiles, done with life.

"Funny."
