This concept might be new to some of you but its interesting. The topic markers are the particles which are added with a noun to show what we are talking about. They are '은' and '는'.

The particle 은 is used with words ending with a consinant while 는 is used with words ending with a vowel.

For example,

저는 - I

너는 - You

나는 - I

커피는 - the coffee

밥은 - the meal/rice

좋은 - is good

우산은 - the umbrella (우산 - umbrella)

Now how to use in sentences?

저는 말코예요.

Marco.

저는 미나예요.

Mina.

저는 학생이에요.

a student.

저는 선생님이에요.

a teacher.

저는 지수의 엄머니예요.

Jisu's mother.

We have a different case here,

오늘은 저는 영화 볼거예요.

Today will watch a movie.

In this exmple, the topic is "Today" but its "I" who will watch a movie, not "Today". Therefore we add the topic particle to 저 as well.

The topic markers are also used to emphasize or highlight a certain point of the topic. A few examples are,

이거는 싫어요.

I hate/dislike/don't want one.

그거는 예뻐요.

one is pretty.

오늘 날씨 좋네요.

Today the weather is good.

오늘은 날씨 좋네요.

the weather is good.

오늘은 날씨는 좋네요.

Today, the is good.

은/는 are used in the means of the noun being "unique" among others or "different".

These are not used in every other sentence just like WE DON'T EMPHASIZE EVERY SINGLE THING THE WAY I AM DOING RIGHT NOW COZ ITS ANNOYING. So we seldom use these particles. But they're used a lot in the form:
