~Eight months later

Jensen and I haven't been seeing eachother a lot lately and to be exact after our one year anniversary. He has filming, preparing the directions for an episode that he is directing, so no many days off and also interviews and promotional photoshoots because it's the beginning of the season in a few weeks but also conventions. He is under a lot stressed lately and also guilty for not spending much time with me. I try to convince him that it's ok and it's just a period that'll be over in a few weeks.

I was on my way out of the hospital when I saw Donna coming. She sees me and smiles

"Hi" I say and I hug her

"Hi (Y/N). I'm sorry to bother you but can we talk?" she asks

"Of course. Do you want to go home or talk here?" I ask

"Maybe here would be better" she says

"Ok, let's go to a conference room so we can be alone" I say and she nods.

"I'm sorry again if I'm keeping you from going home" she says as we sit down

"Don't say that again, please. How can I help you?" I ask.

"I've had a problem with my gallbladder for a few months now and my doctor finally decided that I should get it removed. I have all the results of my tests here with me if you want to see them" she says taking the papers out of her bag. I take them to get a look at them. "And he recommended me a surgeon but I wanted to take your opinion too" she says and I nod.

"First, I need to take a look at your chart. See what medication you were and are on, what else your doctor tried before deciding on a surgery. Then I'd do a full examination and full set of labs again" I say taking a quick look at her file

"Do it. I'm here now, so do it. I just need one more thing from you" she says and I look at her again

"Whatever you need" I say

"Don't say anything to Jensen. No one knows about it except you, me and Alan and I don't want to worry my kids yet" she says

"I won't" I say and she smiles. "Now let's go get you admitted and I'll order those tests" I say

"Ok. Thank you" she says and takes my hand. I smile and I hold her hand.

I did a full examination on her and we were waiting for the tests' results. Most of them would come out tomorrow so I sat in her room all day to keep her company. She thanked me and apologized to me a million times during the day. The night, when she fell asleep, I took a careful look at her medical history.

"Dr (Y/L/N)?" I hear and I wake up immediately. I was still sitting in the same chair with yesterday having Donna's file on my lap

"Yes?" I say immediately

"Your results are ready"

"Thank you" I say taking them. I take a look at them and I go back to Donna's room.

"Good morning" I say as I enter

"Good morning" she says

"So everything came back as expected..." I say and I sit down. "... and by the look on your medical history I would recommend a gallbladder removal too. As soon as possible. The good thing is that it can be laparoscopic. That means low risk, just four small incisions in your abdomen, you can be out of the hospital the next day and recovery takes only about a week" I say. She nods looking down at her hands.

"I know that you are scared but I can guide you through the whole surgery if that will make you feel better" I say putting my hand on hers. "I also know that Alan is leaving for Vancouver next week because Jensen asked him to be on the episode that he is directing" I say and she nods. "Look, I have the whole next week off. I can put you on the schedule and then I'll come to Dallas to help you recover until Alan is back" I say

"No, (Y/N). I'm sure you have plans for your week off" she says

"It's ok. Health comes first. And I would recommend keeping it from Jensen at least for now because he is already under a lot of stress lately and that will just make it even worse" I say

"Then he doesn't need to know if I'll get fully back" she says

"And you will. Just make sure Alan doesn't say anything too because he'll be with Jensen" I say

"Yes, yes, I will" she says.

My phone rings "It's Jensen. I'll be right back" I say

"And I'll call Alan" she says. I get out of the room and I answer the call.

"Hi babe" I say

"Hi baby, how are you?" he asks

"Good. How are you? How is directing going?" I ask

"It's... going. I can't wait to see you next week" he says

"About that... I won't be coming to Vancouver next week" I say

"Why? What happened?" he asks

"There is a... medical convention in Houston next week. It lasts for a whole week and I've been waiting months for it" I say

"And they announced it just a week earlier?" he asks

"No. But they moved it earlier than they had planned and because it happens to be on my week off I want to go" I say

"But (Y/N)... I haven't seen you for more than an hour in a month now and I miss you"

"I know. I miss you too but--"

"Can't you just go next time?"

"Jensen..."

"No, you know what? It's fine, go. Bye (Y/N)" he says and hungs up immediately. Without an 'I love you'. I'm not gonna lie, that hurt but it's for his own good.
