"Sara." My dad whispered, shaking me awake. I groaned and looked up.

"What?" I whispered. I looked at my phone. "Dad, it's three in the morning. What are you doing?"

"Come here. I want to show you something." He said. He walked out my room and I yawned, sitting up slowly. I had this undeniable urge to plop back down in my bed and sleep but I was super curious. I put on my flops and slowly walked down the stairs, finding my dad standing by the door. He motioned for me to follow him outside so I did.

We were in Texas for spring break and I was having a nice dream. Of course my dad wanted me awake at three A.M. though. Filming for Blackwater Cave was on break so dad and I came to Texas. Something that was very much needed. I was exhausted.

James and I have been a lot more close but we haven't ever made it back to the kiss. Just didn't feel like the right time.

I followed my dad out the door and he smiled at me. He then plopped down on a blanket laying on the ground. "What are you doing?" I chuckled softly, rubbing my eyes.

"Lay down with me." He said. I was tired and didn't really care if it was the ground or not. So I plopped down next to my father.

"Hey Sara." He smiled.

"Hey daddy." I smiled back at him, my eyes slowly adjusting. "What are we doing?"

"Look at the stars." He said. I looked up and gasped. I had never really looked at it while I was in Texas. They were so pretty. There wasn't much light pollution so you could see everything. There were so many stars. Different intensities, different sizes. A few blinked, others had a consistent light. You could see part of the Milky Way in all its glory. Never had galaxy had a better meaning. It was breathtaking. I didn't know what to say other than wow. "Beautiful, isn't it?" He asked. I nodded and laughed a little.

"I've never seen so many stars in my life." I said. He nodded and smiled.

"I had to show you." He said.

"Is this it?" I asked. "You just wanted to show me some stars?" He looked at me for a minute and I looked at him. Both laying flat on the blanket. We could hear crickets and other nightly insects all around. It was almost like it was a scene set up to be perfect.

"Well, star gazing with you. I miss just having our father/daughter bonding." He said. I smiled.

"Awe. I miss it too." I nodded.

"You've been working so hard. If you're not working, you're sleeping. So, I thought tonight, if you wanted, we could watch the stars together." Dad told me. I smiled and shook my head.

"You're such a softie. Dean would be disappointed in you." I smiled. He laughed slightly and looked up. He was quiet for a minute before looking at me again.

"Are you disappointed in me?" He asked. I looked back at him and furrowed my eyebrows.

"Why would I be?" I asked.

"Do you think I've been a bad father? In any way to you? Do you think it's bad I've raised you into acting?"

"Where's all this coming from?" I asked him. He sighed and looked away.

"Nevermind."

"No, no, no, no. You brought it up. Now tell me." I told him, moving his head to face me again. He sighed and closed his eyes for a minute. When he opened them, I could see tears in his eyes. "What's wrong?" I asked softly. He was quiet for a while before I finally got him to speak.

"There's just...there are people, you know. People say things and...when it's about you...it gets to me." He said.

"Someone said you raised me wrong?" I asked. He shrugged and nodded.

"Yeah, I guess." He spoke. I sighed and looked up at the stars. "Do you think I raised you wrong?" I was silent, thinking of a way to say it that would convey my thought without making anything bad for either person.

"I think you raised me just fine, dad. Sure, I was on set a lot and sure, it shaped how I am today. But, look at me. I might not have gone to a public school for half my life but I am in advanced classes. I might not want to be a nurse or a vet like most kids my age, but I'm doing what I find amazing. You've raised me just fine. I'm a nice, sweet young lady who wishes nothing but the well being of most people. I cry at the mention of death or terrorism or anything bad. I'd say that's great. In the case of me being disappointed in you, of course I'm not. You're my idol. I love you dad. Even when my biological mother abandoned us, you didn't abandon me. That's pretty great. You're the best father a girl could ever have." I finished. I finally turned to look at him and saw him crying.

"You have no idea how happy that made me." He laughed softly, wiping his tears away. I smiled and shrugged.

"I try." I said, pretending it was no big deal when, in reality, I was super happy what I said was so great to him.

"You think I'm your idol?" He asked. I nodded and smiled.

"Yeah. Of course." I told him.

"It's funny." He said.

"What is?" I asked.

"That I'm your idol." He said, looking up at the stars.

"Why's that funny?" He smiled but didnt look away from the sky.

"Because youre my idol." I was shocked. He didn't look away from the sky as he explained. "When you were born and your mother left, I didn't know what to do. I'd never had a kid and it freaked me out a bit. You're grandma and grandpa helped but I was mostly on my own. I learned to raise you and when you got old enough, I began working again. You learned really fast and it was amazing to me. You were such a smart kid. By the time I started Supernatural, you were already doing math and such, even though you were only three. You were always so happy and bouncy. When you wanted to achieve something, you kept at it. Do you remember when you wanted to enter that coloring contest when you were seven?" I shook my head slowly. "Well, you did. And you won. Your prize was a bike but since you never really liked riding bikes, you gave it to a random kid."

"I did?" He nodded.

"You always did stuff for other people. You still do. You're such an amazing girl, Sara. I'm glad you're my daughter. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me. I love you." He told me. I hugged him and he laughed.

"You're so nice, dad." I said. He shrugged.

"I try." He looked at me finally and I sighed.

"I'm tired but I don't want to leave you. I like sitting here with you." I told him. He smiled and nodded.

"I know you are. The best part hasn't even happened yet." He said.

"Best part? There's more?" He nodded and I looked at the sky. "What else is there?"

"You'll see. You just have to wait." He said. I nodded and sighed.

"Can I ask you a question?" I asked.

"Go ahead." He nodded.

"I know we've been over this but something happened. How do you feel about James?"

"I think he's a nice kid. Why?" He asked, looking over at me.

"Well, at the Valentines Dance, this thing happened. We both got super into everything and...we almost kissed." My dad chocked on air at that moment.

"Kissed?" I nodded slowly.

"We didn't though. Mel kind of ruined it. But...it's been on my mind lately. I mean...I think I like him. I mean, I do like him but...I want to know I love him before we kiss for real. Like...there will be a kiss for Blackwater. That's just how it is. But...I mean kiss for real for real. I want to know I love him before we kiss...you know?" My dad nodded slowly.

"You're worried you'll waste your first kiss?" He asked.

"Yeah. Kind of I guess. I mean, we've been together for almost two years now and I love him. But...I'm scared I guess. I don't know."

"It's okay to be scared. You're still young." My father told me.

"Yeah. I know." I nodded. "I'm not wanting to rush." He nodded and smiled.

"I raised you well." He said.

"Told you so." I laughed. He chuckled and shook his head. "What about you? Anything to ask me about?" He chuckled and thought a moment.

"Do you enjoy doing what you do?" He asked.

"What you mean?" I asked.

"Do you like acting?" He reiterated.

"Of course! It's so much fun!" I smiled. He nodded and gasped.

"Sara! Look!" He said, pointing at the sky. I looked up and saw a small meteor fly across the sky. A few seconds later, more flew by. It was an actual real meteor storm. I'd never seen anything so amazing.

"This is amazing." I whispered. My dad looked at me and smiled. He looked back at the sky and we sat in silence, watching the wonder of nature. There's not much to talk about when such a wonder is happening right outside your door. After a while, I finally spoke, not looking away from the sky. "It's weird. They're just a bunch of space rocks hurdling towards Earth at high speeds, luckily burning in the atmosphere before they hit the ground and cause mass destruction. Yet...it's so beautiful." I said. My dad chuckled.

"Always finding the best in the worst, huh?" He laughed.

"Just stating facts." I shrugged, a smile plastered on my face. We watched in silence before I cuddled up closer to my father. I could tell it wouldn't be long before I fell asleep and I wanted to be as close to him as I could be when that happened. He put his arm under my head and I curled into a ball in his side. He chuckled softly and smoothed my hair.

"I love you." He said.

"I love you too." I whispered.

"Night, baby girl." He spoke softly, kissing the top of my head. I smiled and got comfortable. I soon fell asleep while watching the meteor shower outside while laying on the ground with my father. What a night it had been.
