"Jimin, stop hitting the damn thing, it's not gonna get your hand out any faster." Jungkook scoffed as he scolded his friend. "I'm calling for help, okay?"
"Wait!" Jimin stopped him. "I have a better idea, here quickly, give me another quarter."
"Why?" Jungkook squinted his eyes.
"Because I'm hungry." Jimin sassily remarked.
"Stay there." Jungkook ordered as he took Chul with him, searching for someone to help.
"Where else would I fucking go." Jimin muttered under his breath.
Jimin laid his head against the machine, closing his eyes as he began to yawn. A couple minutes went by and he felt a strong hand tap his shoulder. His eyes slowly opened and he was faced by twenty officers.
—
"Should we go find Jimin and Jungkook?" Sora asked as she tried to catch her breath.
"Yeah." Faye gave a deep sigh as she was also tired from all the running. "C'mon Amina." She grabbed her daughter's hand and followed Sora into a boys' clothing store.
"Oh my God." Sora dropped the unicorn as she saw police officers surrounding the front. "I think some one died." She covered her mouth as she turned to Faye, who peaked over one of the officers.
"What?" Sora lowered her brows as she saw Faye lower her brows.
"I think that's Jimin." She slowly muttered, before both of them took off.
"Excuse me officers." Sora hissed as she pushed past them.
Jimin's eyes widened as he heard her voice. "Shit, pretend I'm not here." He lowered his head, as if that'd make him disappear.
"What the hell happened?" Sora shouted as she crossed her arms.
"Who are you ma'am?" A police officer lowered his brows.
"His wife, now if you'll excuse me, I'm trying to scold him." She gave him a forced smile, before she turned back to Jimin. "Why the hell is your hand in that thing—?!"
"You want me to explain?" Jungkook raised his brow at Jimin.
"Please, save me the humiliation." He muttered.
"Jimin wanted a gum ball, but the machine got stuck so he put his hand in there instead and, yeah you can pretty much see what happened when he tried that." Jungkook looked over his shoulder.
Amina tilted her head as she found a quarter on the floor. She picked it up and walked to the machine as the rest of them were busy. A jawbreaker caught her eye, sitting directly at the bottom of the container, near the door that lets it out to the slide.

She dropped the quarter into the coin slot, but just as she was about to twist the handle, a hand caught hers, making her squeal. "Don't you dare." Jimin warned her.
"I want it." Amina crossed her arms.
"Do you see that?" He pointed at the pink jawbreaker. "It'll break my fucking hand."
"It will?" Amina's face turned pale. "I don't want to hurt you, you're my friend." She reached down and gave him a comforting hug.
A sudden click got their attention, and they both turned to see Chul with his hand on the lever.
Jimin blinked a few times as he watched the latch open, letting the jawbreaker slowly roll through.
Jungkook held his hand over his mouth while the police officers just watched, as there was nothing they could do. "It was nice knowing you." Jimin threw out a peace sign, saying his last goodbyes.
"The boy that got his hand stuck in the gumball machine is now out!" The news anchorman said, with a beaming smile. "The bad news is that he's been transferred to the UCLA Medical center in Santa Monica, and we're hoping he didn't break anything!"
Jungkook rolled his eyes as he sat in the waiting room, staring at the television screen for half an hour now. "Doctor, would you please let us in."
"I'm sorry, but only his wife can be in that room."
"You guys are acting like he's dying." Jungkook crossed his arms. "A jawbreaker fell on his hand."
"Let me make sure it's okay with the patient." The doctor sighed as he walked into the room, before shortly coming back out. "You can come in now."
Jungkook rolled his eyes as he saw Jimin sitting up on the hospital bed, perfectly fine. "Why are you so dramatic." He slapped the back of his head.
"Ow, my head." Jimin pretended to whine. "I think I'm seeing stars."
The doctor turned to Jungkook. "Excuse me sir, I will call security if you hurt Jared one more time."
"It's Jimin."
"That's what I meant." The man crossed his arms as he stepped near the door. "I'll be back with your x ray scans."
"Hurray." Jimin muttered.
"Chul wants to say he's sorry." Faye smiled as she held the small boy in her hands.
"I'm waiting." Jimin lowered his brows as he rested his chin in his hands.
"Uh, he cant talk." Jungkook rolled his eyes at his stupidity, not understanding that it's just a saying.
The doctor walked back into the room, and every one's eyes were set on him. "Okay, I have your x rays, Jimin."
"How many x's do I have?" Jimin squinted his eyes as he was afraid to hear the answer.

"Are you sure this boy is twenty five?" The Doctor began to search through his files.
"Sadly, it's true." Sora sighed.
"Alright, the good news is, you have no broken bones." He smiled, waiting for a happy reaction, though he only received stares.
"And the bad news?" Jungkook bit his lip.
"He fractured his middle finger."
"Nooo!" Jimin dramatically fell onto Sora's lap as he fake cried. "Wait, does that mean I don't have to pay the hospital bill?" He quickly lifted his head.
"No, but—"
Jimin pressed his head onto Sora's lap again, fake sobbing as she stared at his with disgust. "Get off before I put you back in the hospital."
"So does that mean he needs to wear a cast?" She looked up at the Doctor.
"Well since his finger is very small, I'm gonna have to make a special cast for him, one that we usually made for children that break their fingers."
Jungkook harshly bit his bottom lip, trying not to laugh. Jimin seemed so lost in it all that he didn't even notice the three of them cracking up in the back. "Your finger will heal in no time Jared."
"It's Jimin." He hissed.
"I said two eggs not, one." Jungkook panicked as he turned Amina back to the fridge.
It was him, Sora and Faye, with the help of Amina, on kitchen duty tonight, since Jimin was too busy being injured. It's Christmas Eve and a handful of Jungkook's cousins called in late, saying they'd be joining them for dinner tonight. That meant more food needed to be made, in a less amount of time.
"Faye you watching the turkey?" Jungkook looked over his shoulder.
"It looks good." She gave him a thumbs up.
"Sora, did you finish making the gravy?" He looked over his other shoulder.
"Yeah, I'll work on the pasta now." She wiped her hands with a clean rag, and grabbed a large pot.
"Sora."
She let out a loud sigh, and walked over to Jimin who was laying on the living room couch. "What."
He didn't say anything, but pointed to his lips like a little baby. Sora gave him a look, before pecking his lips harshly. "Is that all you wanted?"
Jimin slowly nodded.
"So I can go now?" She raised her brow, feeling kind of bad that she didn't get to comfort him.
Jimin slowly nodded again, making her give a soft laugh. "I'll admit, you're cute." She poked his nose.
He raised his broken finger, making her head fall back from laughter. Sora quickly went back to the kitchen, helping them with the food. After half an hour, a couple of the guests arrived, bringing the food they made. Jimin sat up from the couch as noisy children played around him.
He rubbed his eyes before taking a closer look at all the small Korean kids. "Where the hell am I?"
"Jimin." Jungkook walked over to him. "I didn't want to wake you up while you were sleeping."
"You remember Yoongi, right?" He grabbed the boy by his shoulder.
"Yoongi?" Jimin raised his brows. "Like min Yoongi, the computer hacker from 10th grade?"
"No, that's Namjoon." Jungkook almost choked.
"Wait a second." Jimin stood up. "You played on our high school hockey team?"
"That's me." Yoongi pursed his lips into a smile.
"Damn, how many kids are yours?" Jimin looked down at the playing children.
"Three of them." He proudly smiled.
"Damn." Jimin ran his fingers through his hair, with the hand that wasn't injured.
"I'm sorry I missed out on your wedding dude." He patted Jimin's back.
"No, it's cool. I didn't even know you got married either, to be honest with you." Jimin shrugged his shoulders. "Who'd you marry anyways?"
Yoongi turned to his side as he grabbed onto a girl's hand, turning her around.
"Miss Emerson." Jimin and Jungkook said in unison as both their eyes widened.
"Oh—" She smiled. "Jimin, Jungkook, nice to see you two again."
Jimin's cheeks went red.
"Hey Yoongi, can I talk to you?" Jungkook gave him a fake smile as he pulled his friend to the side.
"What?" Yoongi pursed his lips together.
"You married our high school teacher?" His eyes were still wide.
"Yeah, she's not that old." Yoongi hissed. "She was my assistant college profferer and we started, you know—"
"No." Jungkook scrunched his nose. "I don't know."
"Listen, it's just kind of weird, that's all." He tried to shake the thoughts from his head. "I'm glad you're here though, it's been a while."
"Think of it as a little high school reunion." He smiled, wrapping an arm around his shoulder.
The rest of the guests arrived by the time the table was fully set. Obnoxious giggles, and chatter filled the dining room, making it even more of a special Christmas Eve. These past three weeks have been insane, and no one was ready to let go. Tomorrow was the last day, and everything would go back to normal, or at least that's what they all thought.

For those unfamiliar with my writing style, Second Chances was my first attempt at writing. I'm not sure how much I learned in the process, except that readers get angry when you mess with characters they like! Warnings - I tend to info dump. I know I do this, I like slice of life novels that take time to unfold. So don't expect action, murder, and battles in every chapter, it isn't going to happen I prefer the first-person narrative. I will do an occasional POV shift, but it will never be done mid-chapter. I hope you enjoy the story, comments, ratings, and favorites are greatly appreciated!

QQQQ
Have you ever noticed that the letter Q is unnecessary? It doesn't provide any function to the language. Any word spelled with it could just as easily be spelled with other letters. Does that mean it shouldn't exist? Of course not. In this universe, everything has a place. Cosmic balance, Karma, God's plan, the laws of physics—they're all trying to describe the same thing. There is nothing that exists without purpose, and nothing without purpose that can exist. You can take solace in knowing that, just like the useless letter Q, you have birthright to exist in this world. Nothing can take that from you. Unless a creator God breeds technicolor angel-beasts hellbent on ripping you out of reality, of course. When Mina learns that she was a cosmic accident—a being accidentally created without purpose—what was once an easygoing life starts to entwine with conspiracies, impossible occurrences, and deadly occult mysteries. Not to mention friends so dangerous and unpredictable they make the cosmic horrors look normal by comparison. When the questions never stop piling up, it's hard to know where to begin.
