《Orion》45

War cry erupted around Bellona, Soldiers lunging forward, moving past her to battle.
It was like she appeared invisible to them as no one took notice of her.
Her face scrunched up watching people being slaughtered, soldiers been massacred.
She was quick to recognise one person in the batallion of men who stood battling, Orion.
Sweat appeared over his face, as he fought ferociously, swinging his sword high in the air, and connecting it with the skin of a soldier. She flinched immediately, seeing blood covering her feet, where she stood.
The blood of hundreds of fallen soldiers, she realized.
"Elpida!" She heard a voice cry.
At the sound of the voice, she froze. Not because of how loud it was to her ears, but to whom the voice belonged to.
She looked up not wanting to clarify her thoughts, and there it was, she saw her very own self, fighting off soldiers, with Aiden and Elpida by her side.
Her eyes searched around the numerous heads of men standing, but not for once did she see Pavlos anywhere in sight.
She moved from where she was, going through men, like they weren't there, trying to locate Pavlos, but still he was nowhere to be seen. It was like he was gone.
A mystery to her.
It was then she realized she was in her own dream, and this time she was living in it.
Slowly she turned around, so eager to move away from there and go back to reality, but was blocked by a figure stood in front of her.
His long grey hair, swayed from side to side, bouncing in sync with the breeze. His eyes pierced into hers, like he was trying to get something from there.
A sharp gasp escaped the lips of Bellona, gazing at the man blocking her path.

She recognized him immediately, the old man who once saved Lorwich. The same one who was in Pavlos' cottage.
"So we meet again" He uttered in a low voice.
"Who are you?" Bellona questioned.
He remained silent staring into her eyes, watching her movements.
"You saved Lorwich once. Why?" Bellona asked him, yet no response came.
"I need answers" Bellona uttered immediately.
"None you'll receive" He responded, moving towards her.
"What?"
"You, Bellona Maynard will remain stuck in here" He uttered in a dangerous voice, grabbing her by the neck, and pushing her backwards.
Her fingers dug into his arms, while she choked and tried freeing herself from his strong grip.
"Let go of me" She coughed.
He held on to her tightly, pulling her hair back, and with a look of his eyes, he conjured a wild force, taking her off her feet and pushing her hard to the grounds.
"The Dreams you've been having lately have revealed too much for your feeble heart, and I'm afraid this has to be the last you'll ever have" He uttered in a cold voice.
He placed his feet on her chest, stomping it hard, while she screamed out in pains.
"Costa!" A loud voice echoed, grabbing the man's attention.
He turned around slowly, only to be met with the face of Zephyra staring back at him in a dangerous manner.
"Let the girl go" She commanded.
"I see the powers in you have given you much confidence to think you have the right meddling in on my business" He uttered.
"She's done nothing to you, Costa"
"Your past haunts you, it chases you and screams for you to come out of hiding. No matter the disguise, your heart still remains the same. The sins you've committed are engraved in your fingers. The truth will soon be revealed, every single thing will be uncovered and then, you will be defeated by the one man you fear, the person who dares challenge you. Not me, Costa. But Orion Ray Brennan" Zephyra spat.

Outraged at her words, he sent her flying back with his powers, throwing her figure afar, connecting with a boulder.
Striking her head on a stone, a low groan escaped her lips as she slowly raised her head up to stare into his eyes.
"It's been marked in the elements of the world, that he will be the one to ensure your death. The enemy isn't Cedric, It's you!"
The distant crows disturbing the silence of the night, jolted Bellona from her sleep with beads of sweat which appeared on her face, while she stayed fidgeting, thinking back to her dream, and the mystery behind it.
One name remained stuck on her lips as her eyes moved around.
"Costa" She uttered softly, remembering the terrifying dream she had.
He was the enemy, so said Zephyra.
What Bellona couldn't understand was why he saved Lorwich, when he wanted harm on every single one of them.
She panted heavily gazing around her environments, trying to recall where they were. She gave a low sigh, seeing that everyone was soundily asleep and very much comfortable.
Light movements snatched her attention, bringing her to hold herself together as goosebumps appeared all over her arms, making her chest tighten immediately.
Her fear soon drifted away, seeing the back of Orion in view.
He was keeping watch over the night, making sure no harm came lurking.
Bellona watched him as he moved around, staring at the night sky, while moving back and forth.
He turned around in a short while to gaze at her, sensing instantly, a pair of eyes on him.
His thoughts were clarified as his eyes connected with hers.
A quick look of concern crossed his face, seeing her shiver under the cold night air, and the way she held onto the blankets tightly.
He wanted to go over, asking her what the problem was, but in as much as he yearned for that, he couldn't. He held her gaze for just a brief moment, and then looked away, moving far from her.
But right before he did, Bellona was quick to catch on to the look of concern that rested in his eyes.

[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Inspired heavily by The Wandering Inn and Beware of the Chicken, as well as cultivation novels in general, this story hopes to take a Westernish approach to the standard Cultivation approach, being more subtle and changing how it approaches the standard tropes of the genre, without abandoning them entirely.

The Eye in the Sky
People have always thought that the undead would come from hell - that they would rise from their graves to bring their torments upon the earth.
