《Orion》43

On a raised platform stood an executioner, with a sharpened axe, which glistened under the sun rays.
A chopping block, was placed right at the center of the square, for defaulters who were to be beheaded.
Stood by the other end was Edwina, hands bind, while some guards led her forward.
Villagers all around at the Kingdom gathered around to watch their beloved baker, get killed.
Some murmured amongst themselves, unable to believe that Edwina would be the one to kill the prince. Some sympathized with her, some spat on her, raining insults.
Lily pushed through the massive crowd, going forward to where the Queen was stood.
Once more, she wailed and pleaded for her mother to be replaced with her, yet no one listened, instead, she was pushed aside, while everyone got prepared for the execution.
"Citizens of Tramaría!" The Queen began.
"It is with a burdened heart, I pass judgment on this woman, Edwina Griffin.
A lady I took care of for years, took her like a sister, loved her child, yet, so they say, darkness clouds the heart of humans, for one who would betray, will betray"
"For the death of Prince Harland of Tramaría, my son" She croaked
"I'm afraid the murderer also has to die"
"Therefore, Edwina Griffin, you will in the presence of Everyone, including your daughter, be beheaded" The queen sentenced.
"Please!" Lily cried.
The guards pulled Edwina forward, while she without resisting moved along with them.
Her eyes connected with that of Lily's for a moment, and then she looked away.
"I love you" She muttered softly under her breath, while being laid to rest on the chopping log.
Tears streamed down the face of Lily, watching her mother about to get killed, right before her own eyes.
Her long dress swept dirt off the grounds as she moved forward to gaze at her.

lips parted open, hearing the queen give the final command for the beheading.
A loud sound was heard which silenced the once noisy crowd.
All eyes gazing up at the platform, expecting to see Edwina's head rolling on the floor, with her blood soiling the surface of the earth. Instead, they were met with two arrows sticking out the belly of the executioner. And then more arrows followed, shooting at the standing guards.
Some guards rushed forward, with weapons in their hands, looking around in fear, wondering what was going on, and the reason for the sudden attack.
"Drop your weapons!" A voice commanded.
Sonora stepped forward from the crowd, with Sima right behind her, pointing arrows at them.
A guard holding a bow who was stood right beside the Queen, was about shooting, when Aiden from behind stabbed him with a dagger, dropping him to the ground in his own blood.
The Queen shocked at this, raged in anger.
"Who are you to barge in on the business of Tramaría like this?" She demanded.
"Let the woman go" Aiden said to her.
"Rubbish!" She spat.
"That woman killed my son, and so she must die!"
"You've always been one with violence, Daralisse"
A voice uttered from the crowd.
All heads turned, at the sound of the voice, looking at Orion making his way to meet the queen.
"Orion!" She gasped.
"Surprised?" Orion asked with a slight grin.
He ascended the platform swiftly, drew his sword out, and then broke the ropes which Edwina's hands were bind with.
"Mother!" Lily called out loud, running over to hug Edwina.
"I'm sure you remember the last time we met. How you threatened to get me killed" Orion smirked at Daralisse.
"My condolences to your son, I feel sorry for a boy like that to grow up with a mother like you"

"An undeserving mother" He added.
"Seize him!" The queen yelled, moving through the crowd, fleeing the scene immediately.
Orion immediately catching on to what was happening, chased after her, jumping through carts and pushing through people.
Some knights came charging towards him, giving the queen enough time to escape.
They were fought off, with the help of Bellona and Pavlos, battling each guard that came their way.
Orion who was long gone chasing after the Queen, finally caught up to her after quite a hot chase.
"You filth!" She spat at him.
"How dare you disregard the crown rested on my head"
"You and I know you acquired that through your dirty ways" Orion uttered in a soft voice.
"You were never meant to be the ruler of Tramaría" He added.
"I'm gonna let you go, only because you didn't get me killed the last time you promised to, and that I'm still waiting on."
"What has changed you?" Daralisse asked.
"Since when did you care about good" She spat.
"I hate being called good, but more than that, I hate being called bad.
For I am none in between. I am Orion! And if you've got a problem with that, I suggest you rip my guts out"
He stood firm on his feet, dropping his sword down and then raising his arms up.
"I'll give you one more chance to fulfill your promises to me" He uttered.
"It's either you do it now, or you forever be damned"
The eyes of Daralisse rested on him, watching him as he spoke. She wondered what audacity and wits he had.
A fine character she must admit.
She couldn't bring herself to pick the sword up and thrust it into him, not that he would let her do so.
She thought back about the days when Orion wasn't fully grown, and how she would always threaten to have him killed.
Lucas Brennan was always an enemy to her, and so was Orion. She had even ordered for her army to attack Brilthor once, killing villagers just to make her point clear to them.
Till this day, no one knew the reason for the enmity between Lucas Brennan and Daralisse.
Some say they were once lovers, and grew hatred for each other after they separated. None of it clear.
"I knew you hadn't the guts to do it" Orion said to her.
"Farewell, Daralisse" He called in a low voice and then turned away, sparing her life.
Seeing Orion walking off, Daralisse seized the opportunity, grabbing the dagger which rested underneath her dress, and raising her hands up to strike it at him.
A low sound escaped her lips as something hot and hard struck her on the side of her belly.
Orion spun around immediately, only to see the woman falling to the ground with a dagger thrusted into her belly.
He looked up to see, Sonora who had made the strike, approaching him.
"Mother made us swear that we would protect you, and that I must do, till we see you safely to the Wispy meadows"
Sonora uttered in a low voice, staring at the body of Daralisse laid on the floor.
"I needed her alive" Orion uttered to Sonora.
"Well, I don't. And you're welcome" Sonora responded immediately, stepping over the body of Daralisse and then walking off, while leaving Orion stood there staring at the figure laid on the ground.
