《Return Of The Nerd|||| COMPLETED》Chapter 38- To Testify

Adrianna Rodriguez's Point of View:
As soon as dad mentioned having persons testify against Jeremy I knew the perfect person to talk to. Honestly, I don't know why we didn't think of this sooner. It was the best plan we had. I was currently at the Cafe Seb took me to the first day we met, waiting on the girl who could help us.
"Adrianna," I turned around after hearing my name being called.
"Jules hey," I pulled her in for a quick hug.
When I first saw that Jeremy was trying to blackmail her I thought he was signing his own death warrant. Her brothers were fiercely protective of her which was one of the reasons why she was very secretive with who she was dating. If her brothers found out they'd try to intimidate the guy.
The last time I spoke to her was when we had to work on an assignment together in history class. She was a sweet and funny girl.
"Take a seat," I pointed to the chair that was opposite me.
"Thanks"
She sat and busied herself with getting comfortable while I thought of a way to start some small talk.
"I have to say," Jules interrupted my train of thought "I was surprised when I got your message"
"Why's that?" I asked curiously.
"Because we don't exactly hang in the same friend group"
I hummed in agreement. She was right after all we didn't hang out much and she had every right to be suspicious of my invitation.
"You are right about that"
"So what did you want to talk about?"
I braced myself for what I was about to ask I didn't know what her reaction would be, "did you hear about what happened with Jeremy?"

She looked at me blankly before realizing that I was serious and that was actually my question, "you're joking right?"
"Who hasn't heard about it? It's around the whole school"
"Once again that's true," I muttered to myself.
"Well can you keep a secret?"
"Of course, I can," she laughed "I'd never survive with four overprotective brothers if I couldn't keep a secret"
I still don't know how she handles that, "my family was the one to turn him in"
She gasped loudly. I didn't blame her, things were pretty hush-hush so she'd be the first to know this.
"That's insane," she leaned in to whisper.
"I know," I agreed with her "that's the reason I asked you to come here"
"Do you know why he was arrested?" I questioned her to see if she was getting the gist of what I was talking about.
"There are so many speculations going around the school I'm not sure which is true"
I guess I'll just have to spit it out then, "we found out that he was blackmailing girls into having sex with him"
"Oh my gosh," she puffed out a breath.
"Do you see where I'm going with this?" I asked quietly.
She nodded and took a deep breath. I remained silent giving her some time to digest the news. I'm sure it was hard to hear.
"You said girls," she finally spoke as she looked at me "as in more than one?"
I nodded and she flinched from my confirmation. I reached out to grab her hand which was shaking but she raised it to signal one of the waiters.
"Can I get an espresso please?" She asked "and a cup of hot chocolate"
"Sure thing," he wrote down her order and turned to face me "do you want anything?"

"Make it two hot chocolates"
He nodded and walked away and I turned my attention back to Jules who was watching me intently.
"I thought I was the only one," she muttered quietly.
"I'm sorry, what?"
"I said I thought I was the only one," I looked at her sympathetically as she continued, "I thought he only tried it with me"
"Since I was one of the girls he couldn't have," she spat "my brothers chased him off once when he hit on me and then he tried the whole blackmail crap"
"I didn't think it was worth talking about"
"Did he try it on you?" She asked cautiously.
I looked down, "he was planning to but we found out about it before he could"
The waiter came back with our beverages just in time. He set them down on the table and hurried away to serve another customer.
"So why did you want to talk to me about this?" She took a sip of her hot chocolate "I know you dated the guy at one point but I'm not sorry he's locked up"
My eyes widened, "oh no God no!"
"I'm glad he's in there too...even though he's out of bail"
"We need someone to testify against him because the evidence we had can't be used"
"And why's that?"
"Oh just some crap about breaking and entering and cyberspace"
"Well damn!" She laughed roared with laughter "I always pegged you as a goody-two-shoes"
"Ha you'd be surprised"
"So you'll do it?"
"Yeah no problem Jeremy needs to be put in his place"
"I do have one request though"
"Name it"
***********************
I pulled up to my house and shut the car off. Luckily I saw Michael's car in the driveway and I wouldn't have to call him. In the end, Jules's request did have something to do with him.
Closing the door behind me I headed straight for the kitchen when a tasty aroma hit my nose. Stepping into the kitchen I saw mom and dad in the kitchen. She was stirring something in a pot and dad had his arms wrapped around her as they laughed.
When I was younger I thought it was gross how sweet on each other they were but now I think it's kind of cute. But I'd never tell them that.
"Hey mom and dad," I set my bag down on the counter.
"Hey honey," mom turned to face me.
"Hey, sweetheart how'd it go?" Dad asked.
"She agreed"
That's awesome I'll go let Jack know. He kissed mom on the cheek and ruffled my hair before leaving.
"She agreed just like that?" Mom asked.
"Well she did want something but I've got it covered"
"Okay honey"
I grabbed a bottle of water and ran up the stairs. I sent a quick text to everyone letting them know that she'd be there tomorrow. I walked up to Michael's room and knocked on the door.
"Who is it?" He yelled.
"It's me," I yelled back.
I could hear him stumble as he came to open the door, "what do you want?"
"How'd your date go?"
He looked at me suspicious of where this was going, "terrible, why'd you ask?"
"You're going on a date with Jules a week from now"
"Say what now?"
"Oh shut up you liked her in middle school"
"Wait is she the one with the four brothers?"
I walked away and headed for my room but I could still hear him shouting.
"What the hell Anna!"
