《The Chance of Falling》Chapter Forty

I sat on the stool, swaying slightly side to side as I swung on the chair. The voice of Joan Jett was reverberating throughout the muggle bar, drunk men laughing as they played a game of pool, women dressed scantily danced provocatively on the dance floor, the beading of sweat on their forehead could be seen across the room.
It wasn't a very big room.
It was a small pub in West London, the first one I had found after sneaking out to Hogsmeade and apparating to London. One of the many perks of no longer having the trace.
I nursed my glass of scotch, having lost count how much I have had to drink.
"Hey Doll," the man next to me leaned over, his breath reeking of alcohol, not that mine was any better.
"Hi," I nodded, my attention returning back to my glass.
"How about we get out of here?"
I took another to moment to glance at him, noticing the blonde curls, dark green eyes, and strong jawline. He was attractive, extremely attractive.
"What's in it for me?" I grinned cheekily, taking another sip of my drink.
"For you? Anything," he bit his lip, scanning my figure with ill-contained lust.
I reached my hand out for him to take, finishing off my drink before tugging him to his feet, "Come on, Doll." I mocked.
The faces on the posters leered at us, seeming to know our next course of action.
The back door was pushed open in a haze, a cool damp wall behind me without a moments notice. Strange lips attacked me feverishly, eagerly, sloppily.
The bricks rubbed against my bare back uncomfortably but I couldn't find it in myself to care at this moment, too occupied to even consider moving somewhere less public. His hands wandered up my skirt, grabbing my thighs painfully as I gasped out in delight.

This was exactly what I needed.
My lips connected with his once more, my hands entangled in his hair, pulling, tugging, twisting. He pushed himself against me, our bodies flushed and panting as he begins to work on unbuttoning his dark wash jeans.
"What the fuck!" A voice yelled before the weight of the man was pulled off, leaving me flustered against the cool brick as I struggle to catch my breath.
Flesh hitting flesh slowly registered, my sense eventually coming back to me, heavy grunts finally silence as I notice the figure who had intervened, his shining blue eyes glaring at me angrily.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing?"
It was Regulus.
--
I sat curled up on a sofa in the Slytherin common room, a coffee cup clenched tightly between my hands as I stare into the green fire.
"You just going to sit there all night or are you actually going to talk?" Regulus interrupts, staring at me quizzically.
"You didn't have to beat that guy up because of me," I mumbled in response.
"I didn't like how he was touching you," he shrugged, taking a sip of his tea.
I raised an eyebrow at him, anger surfacing, "You had no right to even intervene let alone admit that."
"You can fuck whoever you want when you're sober, it doesn't concern me then."
"It doesn't concern you in any instance!"
"Maybe not," he shrugged once more, "but that doesn't mean that I'm going to stop. Why'd you go for a muggle anyway?"
"I'm not too sure," I bit my lip, drawing blood, faintly hearing Regulus curse.
"Fucking hell," he muttered, leaning over me and gently pulling my lip from my teeth. "You're going to be the death of me." His thumb swiped softly underneath my bottom lip, cleaning up the trail of blood.

"It makes me feel something," I admitted, finally making eye contact with him. "Whether it's a rush or disgust, I feel it. It gets my heart pumping, my fingers tingle and I get excited because it's an escape from the numbness."
I looked down at my knees, silently ashamed of myself for blurting out the truth. Especially blurting it out to someone I barely knew.
"I make you feel something, don't I?" He teased, his eyes, however, were all too serious.
It took me a second before I nodded my head softly; "You make me angry and so frustrated it's insane."
"I guess I should stick around for a while then," he chuckled, brushing dark strands from his face.
"I guess you should."
