《The Gray Brothers✔️ (Wattpad version)》Graduation

We had three days of practicing for commencements. I guess the teachers were afraid we would screw this up. We're not apes and could follow directions. Well, most of us could.

We collected our caps and gowns, and I hung mine up on the back of the door. Nash knocked on my door.

"Hey."

He walked over to me. "You ready for tomorrow?"

"Yeah, but is Nixon ready?"

We heard Nixon yell, "Woo-hoo, I'm graduating!"

He looked at me. "I would say yes."

I could help but laugh.

"Come on."

"Where are we going?"

"You'll see." He took my hand and led me out of my room.

Nash drove us to an open field, then parked the car. We got out of the car, and he opened the trunk as he pulled out a picnic basket and blanket.

"Look at you, Mr. Romantic." I smiled.

"I thought we could have a picnic." He walked over to a spot, set the basket down, opened up the blanket, and laid it down. Then he sat down as I joined him. He pulled out sandwiches, chips, and beverages for us.

We sat there and talked. Then afterward, we laid down on our backs, looking at the clouds.

"This was perfect. Thank you."

"Sometimes, you need simplicity."

"What do you think will happen to us?"

"Well, I figure we'll graduate, get married, have babies. Maybe have a little Nash or a little Mags running around."

I looked at him, and I could see a little boy with his dark hair and steel-grey eyes running around. Nash picks him up and swings him around. It was at that moment that I knew Nash would become my family.

I reached over and placed my hand on his cheek, then I leaned over and kissed him. He pulled me to him and rolled me onto my back. He kissed me then said, "But no babies until we're married."

"No worries there." I smiled as he kissed me again.

The next day we rushed to get ready.

"Nixon and Maggie, hurry! Graduation starts in thirty minutes!" Nate said.

"We're getting dressed, old man! Calm your tits!" Nixon said.

"I'll give you old man! And I do not have tits!"

Nash knocked on my door. "You better hurry before my dad has a stroke."

I stood up straight after pinning my cap in my hair. I turned around. "Well, does grey suit me?"

He stood there and looked at me. Then he pictured me when I was little and used to follow him around. When he would run over my barbies and when I became a teen entering my gawky period. When I was fifteen, the braces came off, and my face had cleared up. Finally, returning to find me sleeping in his bed.

He remembered our late-night talks through my window, our shopping expedition, ice cream fights, first dance, first kiss, first date, and the first time. He thought about all of it as he looked at me as I stood there in my cap and gown.

"Nash?"

"Um, yeah." He wiped his eyes.

I walked over to him and smiled. "Are you crying?"

"No, I had something in my eyes."

I raised my brows. "Yeah, your eyeballs."

He laughed. "I was remembering things."

"And?"

"And I love you. Now let's get you graduated." Nash pulled me into a kiss.

Then we heard Nate yell, "Two seconds!"

Nash chuckled as he took my hand. "Way to ruin a moment, Dad!"

We arrived on time and found our seats. We sat there and listened to the faculty speak, which was annoying. Then the salutatorian spoke, and he wasn't too bad. Then the valedictorian got up and spoke. If you have ever been to a graduation, you know that the valedictorian is the number one in the class and gives this lengthy speech.

They give a speech about our high school experience and the future. Let's face it, high school sucks. At some point, you have to deal with teachers you don't like. Then there are yo8ur classmates. Some are decent, and some are jerky. Don't be jerky.

Our valedictorian was that kid that gave the most boring speech I ever heard. Nixon and I looked at each other and groaned. It went on and on. Someone, please put us out of our misery. Finally, the principal cut them off. Thank God.

Now was the time we all waited for. The teachers were calling us to collect our diplomas. When they called Nixon's name, the Grays whistled and cheered. When they called my name, they did the same thing, especially Nash. Ah, can't you feel the love?

After they called everyone, we moved our tassels, signifying we graduated, then tossed our caps into the air even though they said not to. We didn't listen. Yep, we were that class.

After graduation, we all met up and hugged. It was a beautiful day, and things could not be better. I couldn't wait for the future. However, the future would bring more chaos and antics. I mean, what do you expect with the Gray brothers?
